BREAKING NEWS: FC Barcelona sell 158% of their players naming rights. All players MUST legally change their names to the highest bidders until 2028. The eighth palanca has been pulled.
Truly we can think about Sergio Biscuits and Gavi-scon!

Sorry, mate, no can do. I was dismissive of this happening when the noise around FDJ to Chelsea first started but I’ve come around to the idea now, and now I really, really want him.

This is ridiculous. With no context, you're probably right, but most sane fans wouldn't gamble the future of the club on a handful of transfers and a shot at trophies over the next couple of years in the way that Barca have. Their house of cards is so precarious that any number of social or economic bumps could bring the whole thing down. They should be dealing with their financial mess and all the covid fallout rather than funding shell companies to buy their own TV rights in a (botched) attempt to artificially inflate their wage bill so that they can sign players that, apparently, the fanbase demands every year or else... like I said, ridiculous.
I don't think what they are doing now is so unsustainable. They are clearly turning the screws and quite successfully lowballing players across the board on their wage demands.

What was unsustainable was paying over 2M/week across MSN, financing Liverpool to PL and CL success, La Decisión, etc.

Or, by the way, how we chuck away money for fun on continued abject failure. I've no doubt they will turn the corner and come out smelling of roses, can't say the same about us. Far from it.

Sky reporting on Transfer show right now that Utd believe a deal is still on as they have agreed a fee and a deal in principle with FDJ's agent.

24 Hours in the life of a Twitter football journalist:
1. Reference others tweets, find the trending saga
2. Open thesaurus to change a few words from the previous day
3. Add words to seem knowledgeable, "Players camp", "Agent", "Terms", "Champions League", add drama.

Tomorrows draft saved: Frenkie De Jong is unwilling to agree terms with #MUFC as the players camp is unsure of Champions League football. Player likes tapas, player is not certain of kebab scene in Manchester.

Does seem very much like we will see who is right in the next 24 hours or so though. Barca meeting with his agent today and La Liga kicking off on the weekend, it is squeaky bum time as the great man likes to say.
That's all happened before though. Ooh things are happening, then nothing happens. I suspect that United have known for some time whether this is definitely happening, or definitely not happening.

Ultimately there are a lot of people now making a living purely out of speculating on transfers, and it infuriates me. We've all seen significantly more evidence that they know fk all and then we have that these guys have an inside track, and yet people eat it up to the point where it actually makes them angry about their clubs.

We're on the road to Idiocracy and nobody seems to realise they are playing a part in it

He's defo leaving then

We've known this for 2 months. They keep having meetings and we keep hearing exactly the same thing.

He doesn't leave and they carry on playing him in friendlies?

Oh the mouthpiece has finally spoken now.

They are in the end game.

Leave Frenkie or else.

So much for "we want you to stay, but please take an 80% paycut and also we will charge you 15m to have your wedding at the nou camp".

He needs to be fit since he is one of the few players they can actually register.

I just can’t see why this isn’t clear to everybody else. It’s so fecking basic.
he or his agent, depending on the verbiage in the contract, could fuk him over if he publicly says anything about leaving which could lead to breach of contract and losing that 17m quid

Romero has had a shocker this summer.

he keeps reporting the same thing, like its news.

If Barca communicated this to De Jong through proper channels, I think this could have been sorted a long time ago.

Its obvious they think they can get him to sign a new deal on lower wages, or else he would have left.

Murtough and Arnold can kiss my big blue balls the way they’ve treated this saga. So many weeks and months wasted chasing him to lose him to a top 4 rival.

Meanwhile we’re linked with has beens who have no place anywhere near a team like United. How the mighty have fallen.

Look at the blame game beginning. Its all Ten Hag's fault we're panicking at the end of the window. Wonder who's fed that to the journalists?

Always, always ends up like this.

The people that run this club are more interested in covering their ar$es than helping us succeed.

Next year maybe, this year they absolutely don't need him
We do. He and Fofana would completely alter how we are able to play. And what window you sign people in makes no difference. De Jong would be a better player, at less money, than buying next summer. And it would still all be in the same 3 yr FFP rotation.

It’s identical to Woodward’s first window. New man in the job and new man upstairs. Spend months chasing a player who doesn’t want to join before a late panic buy of much lower quality. fecking morons.

If its true that Barca have offered 6m of the owed wages, without a doubt Utd would be willing to pay the other 11m. If it really was just the 17m problem, it would be sorted overnight and he'd be a Utd player. Becoming pretty clear that isn't the issue stopping this.

Move on then, pointless to wait and see him sign for Chelsea next week. This was clear all August. Still 3 weeks to do some deals.
