I think they should be sanctioned with how blatant and obvious their tactics have been lately. They're beating other teams to sing players by offering some ridiculous wages only to blackmail them later on into taking paycuts.
The €14M gross that FDJ received in his original contract does not seem to me a disproportionate salary, and less being this before the pandemic.
And of course Barcelona did not win in the fight against PSG for the salary offered, both clubs offered similar amounts.

So they have less than 24hrs to register new players. Good luck with that
They are doing it right now. Lewy, Christensen, Kessie and Raphina are registered so far. Sergi Roberto and Dembele should follow, while Kounde will be registered next week, since he was injured most of the summer anyways.

Laporta in an interview said that in the coming years Barcelona will spend little and that they must lower the wage bill.
The only way to do both of these simultaneously is to sell players with high wages and buy players with lower wages while not spending much more than you sell for.
Not really something Barca has excelled at lately?

Which would be a disaster for this squad if doesn’t achieve what they need them to achieve.
They could easily fail as they did last season, they lack a bit of athleticism imo. Do they just roll over? Then they do need to make big signings just to survive and they can’t because they need to tighten their belts.

Yeah, but that's in the coming years. For them to be able to sell players on big wages in a couple of years time, they need to sign those players on big wages now.

Barcelona have sold part of their media production unit “Barca Studios” for €100 million, the club announced today.

There is a Danish proverb that fits that situation: "It is like pissing your pants to keep yourself warm".
Barcelona find a short-term solution that feels good now, but becomes a disadvantage in no time.

Busquets ends contract this year, Piqué and Alba the next. Also they will eliminate some high amortizations.

How can Pique continue to go so low in wages according to their PR when their PR last year was that this kind of deduction wasn't possible....

Will they expect fans to casually forget these so called 'levers' and the fact they can't really earn any money to spend anything for about 5 years, but they will obviously buy players, for big money and on big money.

Busquets and Alba will both need quality replacements though, to avoid issues with quality of XI options and squad depth.
Same thing with Auba/Lewa when they get too old/leave (but perhaps one younger replacement for both is enough).
It's going to be a tough balancing game in the next 2-3 years or so.

There are reports that Barca are briefing they still need another 20 to 30 m euros to be able to finish registrations. I wonder how many of the squad have a spare kidney?

Finding a replacement for Busquets will be a problem. We will see how the transfer of Nico to Valencia goes, otherwise we will have to spend significant money on a substitute

Alba's replacement could be Gayá who ends his contract next year if he does not renew.
Balde is having a good evolution but is still very young.

In the CF position I think Barcelona will go for Endrick if the guy continues to evolve and becomes a great player.
Fati can also play there.

Isn't FDJ is a perfect candidate for the #6 role? As a deep lying playmaker bring the ball out from the back? I thought his playing style is to drop in between the centre-backs to dictate the flow of the game. His salary is an issue to the current board, but the cost to find a replacement isn't going to be cheap either, right?

You're right, there's not many deep lying midfielders who can break-up play and start the transition to attack. We've been after one all summer but are still trying.

So they found another lever? Really? Still unable to register one player though it seems. What part of Barcelona did they sell off this time?
I think they're still waiting to register 3 but have registered 4 players now?

For me FDJ is the ideal player for that position, but the one who decides is Xavi, and he doesn't see him in that position.
So we will have to look for a player if Nico does not progress well at Valencia.

If FDJ does leave (which I'm unfortunately doubtful of), I'd be seriously questioning Xavi. That's a difficult position to fill and he's shown he can do it well.

They’ve registered all their new signings except Kounde, who’s not match fit anyway. Next couple weeks they’ll register him.

I wish Ten Hag got the backing Xavi has had.

Neville still has Barca nightmares from his 0:7. Can't explain his posts otherwise. This guy was a very bad manager, so he became a Social Media "journalist". People give this guy way too much attention, because he was a good footballer at some point.

Just because he did not make it as a manager does not make his football opinions invalid.

Imagine being Kounde, the one player out of five they don't bother registering, and your place in the team is dependent on wage reductions or sales with a couple of weeks left in the window. Farcical football club.

By reports he isn’t fit and ready to play anyway. So I guess that’s why it’s less urgent to get him registered.
