Feels similar to when we sold Smalling, but kept Jones and Bailly. We can only sell players someone is interested in buying or who want to leave. We are way too soft a touch when it comes to moving players on.
Yeah, seems about right for us.

Years of being shit in the transfer market means we will sell low and buy high for a while. Its easier to Do when you're not desperate as well.

15m is decent but the replacement will probably be worse for us knowing united

I was hoping he would have been given a chance in the first team, I can't see how he would have been any worse then McT but there is no point keeping him if he is seen as 5th or 6th choice.
Hopefully he'll go to Forrest, he had a great season there last season and seems to be very highly rated by everyone connected to the club.

It's a shame but clearly EtH has seen enough to know he can't cut it here and we may as well cash in whilst his stock is reasonably high on the back of last season.

Right time to sell him if he's not getting minutes. Hopefully a big sell on or a buy back clause will mean if he does turn out to be a top class player we can get him back again.

Not even given a chance when our options are so bad... he was good at Forest, perhaps in training he doesn't impress. Massive shame.

Fee should be closer to £20m though, especially if it's Forest wanting him as they know his qualities. It would make sense to include a buy-back in case he kicks on in that case, as he could succeed in the familiar environment.

We need the money so I’m not surprised. At least it would be making a decision one or another.

If he isn't going to get many oppertunities to play, I would sell him. Insert a sell on clause or even a buy back clause and take £15-20m.

He’s apparently not that highly rated by ETH if he’s willing to let him go.
Selling Garner for 15m and replacing him with Rabiot without having to reduce our transfer budget for other targets makes sense to me.

Hopefully we include a buy-back or future percentage clause in the deal.
Best for all parties.

We're not on the training ground, so its difficult to judge, however I thought Garner could have something. Disappointed not to see him get a chance given the state of our midfield. Hopefully we include a buy back option, in case he flourishes elsewhere.

Like many others, I suspect this would not be happening if Glazernomics were not at play. Them's the breaks I guess.

He's nothing special from what I've seen in his games with Nottingham Forrest and he's more suited to a team that won't have the majority of the ball.

Would be a joke to sell him in a position with absolutely no talent and the performances we have seen so far, no way is he worse than McTominay who has continuously failed.

If the manager doesn't think he's good enough then it absolutely makes sense to move him on whilst we still can.

I'm not convinced by him but hopefully we put in a buy-back clause just in case. It would be typical if he went on to be a world beater while our midfield rots away.

Should be sold before being tried in this crappy squad, he did well in the Championship with Forrest so let's maintain his good reputation for now, so he can fetch £20M easily.

Gutted about this maybe more because it highlights the problems at the club and finances, rather than this being a football decision.

That said, I watched Forest a fair bit last season and he never stood out. Had I not been watching and listening for him particularly, I wouldn’t have noticed him at all. Not sure he’s cut out for the PL yet.

I don't see him being a starting 11 player in any European ambitions side, he might develop into one in the future, but that's why we should sell and have a buy-back clause just in case of a first bid clause or something similar.

Terrible decision in my opinion, if you impress on loan you should be given a chance in the team. His competition are terrible so the risk was low for a significant financial gain if he did perform.

This is a good move. The club needs to start being more decisive, rather than the approach of let's give X, Y and Z a go.

You need to trust your ability to assess the ability of the players. If you can't tell whether a player on your own books is good enough, what hope do you have when trying to recruit externally?

What makes you think he is not worse than McT? ETH sees him in training every day, I would think he sees what's what. It should be quite telling if he can't make the team even if the competition in his position is so bad. Just like with Donny, people are unhappy when he doesn't play but every time he plays he is crap.

We should definitely put a buyback clause in there.

The right move if we're planning to bring in both de jong and radiotherapy as he wouldn't have gotten much game time otherwise.

Most likely our only sellable asset at this stage
Still think we should’ve sold Henderson rather than loaned him. Either that or play him because it’s clear that De Gea needs a rocket up his ass.

£13-£15m is about right - what ever his potential he is a top level champ player untested in the prem. Having said that, for sentiment reasons I’d have him back even if it cost £20m.

The problem is we now have a lot of options in midfield. Mangala and Yatesy as number 8’s, O’Brien and Fueler at 6, Colback and Cafu as back ups. We need a 10 to compete with Lingard and Jimmy isn’t a 10.

I bloody hope he comes home though - my player of the season Last year

What matches are you referring to re: Garner being crap, exactly? He hasn't played a competitive game for us in years.

Henderson's stock was low after a year on the bench. A year of football should help us get a good fee for him next summer.

Garner's stock is quite high after playing a year of football last season.

He must be gash if he's being shipped out and not getting a chance ahead of the clowns we have in the middle right now.

This honestly feels like a bad dream, chasing arnautovic and rabiot while trying to flog any promising youth we can because we can't/won't shift years worth of waste like Jones, Awb, mctominay, bailly.

It's unquestionably worse than any time post Ferguson

I'd like to have seen him been given a chance first. We have persisted for years with the same really bad midfielders. Could he be any worse? At least he has some potential.

This is the right decision if they feel that he is not good enough, we get far too emotionally involved with players and get no money in the end

I'd much rather we sold McTominay, who has demonstrated time and again that he isn't cut out for playing for United.

There was rumours on the tour he was the one who turned up late and subsequently got dropped.

If true then he's clearly not got on the right side of a new manager. Silly boy.

We have not even tried to use Garner, this is on ETH, I’m increasingly becoming a non fan of our new united coach, we could at least give the kid a game first with the dross we currently have in our midfield. Mctominay would probably raise £25m if we need cash for transfers.

How do you propose we do that? Nobody would want him and his wages are probably double what they should be for his ability.
