Honestly would be the best striker we've been linked to this window if the links are true. Clinical and still just turned 26

How many bloody Dembele are out there? I swear they started popping out from nowhere about 10 years ago and suddenly every league has 2-3 Dembele

The fact we are still “ considering” anything is the most soul destroying thing…

a club like Utd, knew in January, with Cavani definitely gone and Martial/Ronny very likely leaving in the summer…we needed at least one striker with no real youth coming through in that position…. We should have had striker targets identified in January, sounded out before the end of the season and one target signed immediately. Instead we are two losses into the season and we haven’t made a decision on whether to bring in the most obvious available striker on the market?

funking unfathomable

We just opening new threads for every single player we get linked with. That’s gonna be a lot of threads… they know we’re desperate for signings upfront and in midfield so expect us to be linked with a ton of names with nothing actually coming from it.

Shows how unprepared we are. Going behind every striker available with no plan as such. Such an incompetent group of people. We deserve everything we arr going through now.

This is just an old regime target though, we were linked when Ole was here. I don't think anyone knows who we're targeting - could include the transfer comittee at this point.

Yup, fully agree. Our incompetence is mind boggling.

Of all the strikers we’ve been linked to, he’s the only one that I think would be good in our league - he’s a traditional no.9 who can play with his back to goal and is a finisher. Seems to have about 20 or so goals in all comps most seasons, which is better than what we have been chasing.

Dos he have a dodgy injury record or am I remembering his time in France wrong?

Yeah a few of these links seem re-hashed - the alternative is that we have actually gone back to the old scout reports as all of EtH's targets have been discounted.

I think that it's tied to Ronaldo. The club didn't took a strong stance and we are now trying to facilitate his departure while mitigating it. And it's not surprising I said it before but that's why people are a bit too naive when they talk about selling clubs, the good ones don't sell recklessly, they plan for departures and anticipate. United is still in the mindset that players will necessarily extend or that they won't want to leave.

The deeper we are into the transfer window and the more my will to give the benefit of doubt to Murtough vanishes regardless of how the window actually ends. His mindset has seemingly been wrong, instead of focusing on small but definite improvements and on making sure that the players that want to leave or are clearly unwanted actually leave, he managed the transfer window as if we were CL finalists.

I hear there is a young fella at Strasbourg called Kevin Gameiro that looks like he could have a decent future ahead of him.

Does his agent know that yet? He could ring up Murtough and co and we could do something about it

He's on the last year of his deal. If we can't even close this for 35M, we might as well give up pretense of being a football club.

He's a good finisher, but does very little else. Having said that, if Ronaldo is off, we'll need some goals from somewhere and Martial (two league goals in 18 months) can't really be relied upon.

Agreed on this, I gave him the benefit of the doubt at first, but looks like a stinker of a window from him and the team on all fronts.

Who is there more of, the Wayans or Dembele’s ? On topic though he’s not exactly set Ligue One alight has he ? In a team with Aouar, Paqueta, Caqueret and Cherki also there.

Going through all the C-tier strikers. swiping right on everything we see and getting no matches. Sad era right now

Would be a shrewd purchase I think. Has had a bit of a rocky time last couple of years from what I can tell, but is a class player at the right age and in the right mould for what we need.

Dembele, Martial & Garnacho (Rashford reserve) would tide us over for a year I reckon, allowing us to reasses and hopefully upgrade next summer with a bigger budget and hopefully a competent recruitment team behind us.

A guy can dream I suppose.

He has generally been very good, better than Aouar. And Cherki shouldn't really be mentioned.

He had a 0.92 goal per game ratio and has scored 67 goals over the past 4 seasons for them, going over 20 goals 3 times.

He's one of the best finishers in Ligue 1

This is the same Moussa Dembele who was at Fulham at one point. Was very highly rated back then

I suggested him a couple of times, I think he could be great. But I'd try going for Jonathan David or Evanilson first. The latter will cost £60M-£70M within two years. We could get him now instead. But I wouldn't be mad if we get Moussa Dembele also.

What happened to him in 20/21?
Dembélé? I don't remember but he was loaned to Atletico for half of the season where he was only brought as a bench warmer.
