Can’t help but feel like Casemiro at United would look several levels below Casemiro at Real. He’s like what 31 as well, right?

Would love us to sign both Casemiro and SMS…

Bruno/eriksen. SMS
Casemiro
Now that would be a midfield to compete with the best.

If we are spending 80 million on someone who is already picking out coffins, we really have lost our marbles.

Crazy price and seemingly unlikely. I wonder if this might be one of those transfer rumors leaked to the press just for "positive engagement" in social media. Gotta have some good KPIs for the quarterly report.

It all feels a bit immaterial because I doubt either of them are interested at all, but you're right that if we are going to offer mental money for any of their midfielders, it should be Valverde.

I just feel now more than ever that offering idiotic money for an aging player playing for their last contract is not the right way to go. We're going nowhere fast, you can make a case for experienced players but not when it's eating up all of your budget.
Definitely - but we're desperate. If it comes to ending the window with what we have vs ending the window with what we have + Casemiro, then I'd rather the latter.

Spunking 80m on Casemiro or suffering through another season of utter wank that is McFred, yeah not really seeing an issue personally. We are desperate and he's fantastic.

Not happening anyway, but people not wanting him are bizarre.

Its not bizarre, Madrid spent the same amount on a much younger player. We are about to spend around the same amount and pay more in wages. Its poor squad building. If we had an established team and were trying to win the league or champions league he wouldake sense.

Aye, but those aren't the only possibilities on the table. Caicedo at Brighton, for example. If he was being offered to us by his agent (and it was reported he is/was a United fan) then that sounds far more appealing to me than a guy who's only coming here because we're offering him a blank cheque.

Of course its poor squad building. But we've seemingly got a blind spot to actually buying the young talents that would obviously help us. We're in a terrible terrible position in the market, worse I've ever known us. No matter what we do in the next few weeks, no one will be satisfied.

80m on a 31 years old player. That will be peak Man United when it comes to stupidity. You can't make that shit up.

Even after the shambles that has been this window, it comes across as people think our predicament is anything less than dire and that we should be passing over someone of this calibre on general principle.

To be honest, he’s a phenomenal player. Just wish he was 3-4 years younger.
30 is no problem. We get a perfect player. But I am not dragging my self in this transfer just yet. It’s Casemiro, a world class player.

Stupid wages but we have offloaded a lot and if anyone is justified its a player whos arguably the best DM around, even at his age.

If the figures mentioned are real then anyone would have to seriously contemplate it at that stage of their career, still hard to see it not ending in Real offering him a slight raise over the next few years.

They won't want to throw their young guys straight into the fire just yet and they have the best chances of repeating in the league and CL with him in the side rather than out of it

I can’t wait for “Casemiro loves Madrid and has no intention or joining united’s circus”

Has he been on the decline or can we get 2-3 good years out of him still ? He's certainly an upgrade on what we've got so far

He’s a great DM, one of the best around. Don’t understand the posters who don’t want him.

It’s definitely not real though, no way we’re getting him. It’s Sergio Ramos all over again.

Still at the top of his game and they wouldn't have won the CL without him.

Him, Benz and Modric were the stars of that improbable run

Ill still laugh until the glazers leave at things like this.

No way its happening.

Casemiro would be great, but we still need a DLP.

This is literally what we all said about Matic. We’ve been rebuilding for over half a decade now because of signings like this.

Really? He’s the best player in the world in his position with a winners mentality.
If anything he’s worth more to us
He's the best in the world with Kroos and Modric. Real's midfield is a perfect balance. Casemiro would be of very little help in building plays and has failed to impress with Brazil. I actually have a hard time remembering more than a couple of very good games with his NT in 7 years.

That being said, he's amazing at what he's doing with Real Madrid.

Ironically enough, Fred and him have provided a very balanced midfield partnership for Brazil over the last year or so
