This idea that as soon as a player turns 30 he turns to shit. I don't know where they get it from.
No but he’s only going to get older and stats tell us that players start to decline massively into their 30s. Aren’t we trying to build something? Even if it clicks and he’s immense for a year he could need replacing a year later. We saw that exact thing happen with Matic.

That’s fine. It’s all about opinions. There is no real way to say what you are saying is true either. It is my opinion that he is not what we need specially at the money quoted but people are free to disagree. I can already predict how this will go if he signs for us, you can quote me back if I am wrong
Well there is a way of saying it. In the sense of him bossing in the CL final 3 months ago and having a great season overall.

Thanks for your valuable contribution. There is a reason the European champions have signed someone to take over from him soon. He is obviously a quality player but I have been burnt far too many times with 30+ guys trying to get a big last paycheck.
That I believe is an appropriate response for quite frankly a laughable statement. Just because someone turns 30, there isn't some magical switch that suddenly makes them into shit. That is FIFA logic, not real life.

It is another question on what would be preferable but we have to remember that It takes 2 to tango. We were interested in Tchoumeni as well, but he chose Real Madrid. It appears to be the same case with FdJ as well with him either opting to stay at Barca or move to Chelsea.

We don't need a project signing in central midfield. We need a signing for the hear and now. In the season we missed out on Sancho we acquired Pellestri and Amad and what good has that done?

A one dimensional approach doesn't always work. We have to take a pragmatic view as well on occasion.

Spending 50 million and 400K a week on Casemiro is just symptomatic of the complete dysfunction at the club. Don't care how good Casemiro has been, he's going to be required to essentially save the club's midfield on his own which is night and day to what he was required to do at Madrid. One thing to just win the ball back and pass to Modric and Kroos. Whole different thing to run the midfield, control the game and also shield the defence on your own, all at the same time.

Also, La Liga is walking pace compared to the PL. La Liga is basically exhibition pace football. How quick (both in feet and mind) will Casemiro still be as a 30 year old with a lot of miles on his body already. As great as he was defensively, he already looked like he lost steps last season and two seasons ago. Going to look even worse playing with the likes of McFred and Maguire in by far the fastest and most physical league on the planet.
Cool cool cool... lets just stick with McFred then eh?

There’s more evidence to say that DMs actually get better with age though
Journal of Sports Analytics 2 (2016) 89–105

When do soccer players peak?

The results show that the average professional soccer player peaks between the ages of 25 and 27. In the preferred models, the average forward peaks at 25, whereas the typical defender peaks at 27. For midfielders, the estimated peak age varies by model but still occurs in the 25–27 age band.

this place is insane . "We need a DM, we need some one who can change the way we play right now , we need to spend money on top quality , why do other teams buy such good players and United don't ....etc. etc. "

Do you want Casemiro arguably the best DM in the world ?

"no ,too old and too expensive "

nuts man, nuts .

I would be thrilled to see him play for united! bring in loads of top quality players and who knows we might not suck .
This is spot on and the reaction from people on here complaining about potentially signing a DM that will add not just quality on the ball but height and DM that really sniffs out danger. Instantly will be the best DM in the League, but hey he is 30?

The Champions League winning team had a midfield of Kroos (32), Modric (37) and Casemiro (30). Fernandinho who played a similar position for City and won the title is 37 right now.

We don't have a single competent central midfielder. If he needs replacing in a couple of years so be it. At the end of the day, its a Cost-Benefit Analysis. Adding Casemiro to our squad is a significant upgrade. Of course him alone is not enough, we need further upgrades, but I will be happy if we sign him.

Weird that we have shown less ambition this transfer window than Nottingham Forest. It's going to be a tough fight for 13th season

I remember when he broke the Di Maria to Utd news, everyone was fecking buzzing, he had exact updates and timeline was perfect. He nailed that transfer.
So you cursed Casemiro to be next Di Mari case and move to PSG for 20m next summer?

We're that dickhead down the pub who's always loudly telling people what he's gonna buy next year.

That's not true though is it, we've gone after players however haven't been able to finalise the deals. It's rather a common sense and strategic planning which we were lacking rather than ambition.

They will get no credit from me for blindly flailing around in the general direction of high profile players.

We all love United
I would absolutely jizz myself if we sign Casemiro and Antony to finish off the window. We need no right backs as we can put Wan Bissaka in that position because Dalot infuriates me thoroughly

At some point Dalot could benefit with having Antony on his side as he's not bad at defending / backtracking.
