A massive square peg for that gaping square hole. Delighted with this one.

So Real Madrid are selling us a 30 year old and we're giving him a huge contract for up to 5 years. I'm not gonna lie I've always liked Casemiro but we're just never going to learn are we?

Age doesn't concern me at all, he's still absolutely top class in his position we have been trying to fill since 2007

It's more like they are allowing him to go, not forcing him out.

Anyone else a bit confused by this transfer? Why did we only start pursuing in late August? How did we start with Frenkie and end up with Casemiro, two completely different players?

Anyone getting Schweinsteiger vibes from this?
No Schweinsteiger was constantly injured and legs were clearly going at Bayern. Look at Casemiros performances in the CL final last season and Super cup. They are performances of a player at his peak

That’s exactly what I said, we don’t seem to be targeting a specific type of midfielder but like someone’s already said I think ten Hag realised we needed a natural DM to protect the back 4 after we’re leaking goals for the fun of it.

How can it be fantastic when Fred is still in there?
Fred is much better on the brasilian national team with Casemiro, so there is a good chance he will be better for us as well.

We wouldn't. Erikson is average at best nowadays and Casemiro is not want we need. Rather than a destroyer type DM we need a deep lying play maker who can sheild the defence and dictate play. A Carrick, Busquets type player. I might be wrong but from what i've seen Casemiro is a good DM and good at winning the ball but he's not the Carrick, Busquests type and he'll be yet another player who isn't particularly good on the ball or comfortable in possession.

That's one of our biggest problems. Our current squad is very limited in terms of players who can keep hold of the ball or are comfortable in possession. They all want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Casemiro will be more of the same I expect.
EriksEn is still very good when played in his usual positions. You could even run with eriksen to dictate the play and Casemiro next to him and then have Donnie or Bruno as the 10. What we lack is defensive stability in our midfield and Casemiro will provide that.
Anyone thinking going from McT to Casemiro isnt a monumental upgrade needs to start watching more of Casemiro..

If it helps to stop us leaking goals this season then I’m in… could be the signing that makes our season and gets us into top 4. Find it strange though that we could have Varane, Casemiro and Ronaldo all playing Europa league football
I know you're right just feel like Madrid mugging us off, getting tchouameni for 50m selling the other guy other 60m

Not too convinced of Eriksen in the deeper role. Dont think he deals well with the press and physicality, think he should play instead of Bruno as our #10.
I don't think Eriksen is the right man for the job in midfield, but first of all, I think he should be playing close to the opposition box right? That's where he's most useful.
I would rather Eriksen play deeper than Fred or McT. He is more than capable of playing that role. I don’t want Fred or McT starting in league games unless there is an injury.

Because they have no idea what they're doing.

I still imagine his dream scenario is Casemiro now & Frenkie late in the window.
Few reports saying we’ve been on this one for a while.

I like his work rate and that he is intelligent, physically strong and aggressive. We need that in our midfield and team. I would like to see him play with McTominay, not Fred. I think Fred takes too big risks at time.

Sancho cost £76m and has offered nothing.

Not that concerned about spending £60m on one of the most accomplished DMs in the game who could play for another 4 years,

A midfield of Casemiro and McTominay. That's hilarious. Mourinho would be wetting himself with joy

If you're referring to Liverpool then it needs to get done by around midday today.
Why midday?.you think that'll be enough time for a visa to be sorted?

McT shouldn’t be anywhere the first team anymore. I still can’t believe we are willing to sell Garner first over McT.

I get peoples apprehension on it and I feel the same, a 4-5 year contract on massive money could come back to bite us. That said 1 week ago it looked like we were signing Rabiot so this is a much better move.

Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
That would be epic, but even if our executives move their asses quicker than they ever have, Casemiro still needs a work visa which will take some time, no?
No, there’s a system in place where players meeting certain criteria can breeze through if memory serves, games played in the last X years at certain levels. He easily would pass any test like that.
