Antony Martial Sancho

Now that looks really good. If we can get a RB similar to Malacia in we're good to go.

you think he's worth well more than that amount?
Yes, though not just for his ability. His entire profile, the position he plays in, his contract, Ajax' financial and sporting position, his nationality and how he's shown himself there etc.

I am not saying it's no risk, but it is weird that 70 million euro's for Neto seems normal for most, and they think Antony should go for 60.

Mind, in my mind Sancho was a bargain at that time though he hasn't shown for it at all. But a player of his profile should have gone for about 100 million euro's in the current market as well. We were lucky because of Covid, Dortmund had to down their asking fee.

You're going to overpay with a 100 million like I predicted. Everything below ain't happening hahaha. What a deal, 100 million
Nope, we’re coming back with a €80 +1€ bid after we tapped him up nicely ;)

Raphinha went for 55. You aren't dortmund.
Pounds, not Euro's. Raphinha is also 3 years older and if Ajax isn't Dortmund, Leeds is nowhere near Ajax.

Raphinha also would never join United, he was Barcelona bound.

I think they are around the same level currently.

can't argue against any of that as really the market has been set for certain attacking players and positions....80m is arguably 10m or so higher than it should be for some but given his ability, our need and what he would bring to the table then this would be money well spent for United

we clearly need a forward and badly need a left footed attacker

Oh no, how ever will we be able to sleep at night knowing we've paid €100m to buy a quality player who will bring entertainment to Old Trafford

55m pounds is 64m euros. 80m is a very fair and generous offer, holding out for 100 is insanity.

Aint no way you're getting Antony guys haha. There's just no way, unless you pay our feckoff 100 million. I think he does not want to go now also to Manchester.
He is telling your club to feck off. You're just a feeder club to us, but the things you feed us aren't so special as you think.

And you'll be rejected again. Ajax are not stupid. Even if Antony really is kicking up a fuss, that's not going to change Ajax's positoin much. It may have a small effect, but Ajax certainly won't be bullied by it. Just remember the Martinez saga. Reports came out Martinez was clear to the Ajax board that he wanted to move when you offered 45m. You ended up paying 57m+10m which was well above anything that was reported before that.

Ajax wouldn't be bullied then and certainly won't be bullied now. Worst case scenario for Ajax is Antony will kick up a fuss, won't play the next 2 games, transfermarket closes and then he has to return and play his socks off to get into the WC squad. If that's how far it has to go, Ajax can take it. Not the most prefereable option of course and Antony might very well not even go that far.

Nevertheless, my first reaction after you bid 80m yesterday already was that this deal was going to happen. I posted that multiple times yesterday. So I expect a deal to happen. Regardless of Antony's stance, an offer in the 80m range is getting towards a point where it's difficult for Ajax to refuse. The potential downside on this become bigger (if Antony doesn't deliver next season) and the potential upside in his value (even if he has a fantanstic season) becomes limited. Hence why I felt like this deal was happening the minute the news broke that United offered €80m.

I am sure Ajax is already looking at a replacement. Just based on common sense I expect a deal to be completed somewhere next week. In the Martinez saga the fee became much higher than anyone expected. United is even more desperate now and we're closing in on the end of the window. My gut feeling is telling me that Ajax is going to hold pretty firm for a 80m basic fee and then see how much add ons United are prepared to give on top of that. Ajax will be looking to break the 86m transferrecord for De Jong I think. If Ajax really hold firm, which they did last time, I can see Ajax eye-ing a record breaking €100m fee. In this market I won't be suprised anymore. The one thing that would suprise me if Ajax turned around and said 'well United, ANtony became such a problem for us. We rejected your €80m offer last time around, but we've made a U-turn, please take him for €80m'. I would not bet on that one happening, but that's just my take on it.

€80mill is already a huge bid for him. I dont know How you could expect so much more?
It’s not Mbappe we’re trying to lure from PSG. Because lets be real here, Ajax are not in the ’Big club league’, And he Will be looking for a bigger move sooner than later. So I feel that Ajax are trying to price him out now. Which of course he Will kick up a fuss for.

Not surprised at all. I knew months ago that he might be unhappy if Ajax decided to reject the big offer. Although, Ajax fans shouldn’t blame Antony because €80m is a lot and Ajax was just being too much when they rejected that offer.

A huge amount for Antony, yes. But if we do go ahead and shovel Rashford to PSG, though I have no idea if that’s still on, the net spend can’t be all that problematic.

This exactly!

Ajax already has proper replacements in the squad as it is..
Exactly. I would be surprised if Ajax didn't plan for his departure. One of the best run clubs. Ofcourse they don't want to sell but if a decent offer is in, think Ajax will sell him and replace him with some unknown gems.

I think 80m is fair and generous as well, but Ajax is within their right to hold out for more.

United is in the place and need perhaps to go beyond that. Buying young star players with long contracts from top teams is always expensive. Just look at Joao Felix or Dembele. I think Antony is just below their talent, which the price reflects.

Sancho and Rashford have been equally useless but I believe Rashford does a better job pressing statistically, so it could be Sancho that finds himself on the bench. Now maybe Antony coming sees Ronaldo leave and they move Rashford to a central position but he didnt even get that chance in the opening game when ETH tried a false 9.

He seems like a very inconsistent player, I'm getting horrible Rashford vibes!

I'm the first to admit that I have only watched him a few times though so I'm not best placed to judge.

Only seen a few seconds of him on you tube before the horrible music they always use make me stop but I still want him

Isn't Antony fast?
Yes but not quite as consistently quick as a Salah. He's like a Sancho style skills dribbler who can turn on the pace when he wants rather than an absolute speed merchant. Not as bad as Sancho in that respect who has a very playmaker languid style.

If we can pull this signing off then I think we’ve had a great window even though we’ve left it late. We do ideally need another midfielder and a RB but we ain’t getting everyone in one window.
