If he were coming on a 3-year contract for 30 million pounds, I’d be excited. But 60 million and a 4 year contract for a 30 year old is ridiculous. Even if the next few years show a lot of progress, he will need to be replaced by the time the club is ready to compete for trophies.
If he’ll stop us leaking 4 goals to feckin brentford, surely worth the cash, no? And how about garner learning from him?

We needed a CDM, we all knew this. The fee is definitely high, could have got him for 55 million I suppose.

Is this for real or just a dub over?
It's definitely a dub over. I saw this on twitter and apparently the context behind is the guy in glasses is new to the national team and Casemiro doesn't like that he makestoo many jokes and says this important for team building and he needs to take it more seriously.

Just like Sancho/Lindelof, right? That's worked out great so far.
Sancho will work out. It’s clear that he is supremely talented just needs equally talented, hungry players around him.

I’m not a huge fan of Lindelof in terms of his lack of pace, strength and aggression… that’s just poor scouting.

Both have resale value and Sancho has the potential to be immense.

"The best player in the world in that position"

Has anyone got the stats that back this up? Genuinely? Or is it just that he starts in the team that won the champions league, just like Varane won 3 of them and yet made no impact in defence at all. I can't believe with the resources we have we haven't been able to identify someone with their best years ahead of them. Im delighted with the signing don't get me wrong, but we've had our fingers burnt so many times since Fergie left that i am skeptical over everything these days. After Di Maria, Sancho and Ronaldo I can't help but question every transfer these days!

A competent club shouldn’t need to spend 60 million pounds on a player just to beat brentford. And a club as incompetent as United is right now shouldn’t be overpaying to buy its way out of this mess. Casemiro isn’t excited about ETH or the club’s project. He’s coming for the pay day. You don’t improve the culture at the club by bringing in players this way.

Liverpool signed Thiago at 30 and he’s one of the best in the league. We have to prey that this guy at 30 can have the same impact and lift the shower of you know what around him now.

Some people really are jaded from the last few years. Imagine being miserable after signing the best DM in the world ::lol:

Yesterday it was reported he'd agreed terms at €18m a year, or £195k a week.

Today Whitwell is trying to tell us he's going to be on £375k a week.

I'm more worried about this taking the sting or impetus out of of any protests than I am about signing the player himself. It just feels so important to keep the pressure on the Glazers at this moment. I hope we're not bought off by a shiny new midfielder.

What a difference it is working with Madrid as opposed to Barca, few days wam bamm and the deal is done. He's obviously a world class player, excited to see what he can do and I hope this lifts up the squad as well. We still need one more CM.

Have to admit, when this first came up I thought there was no chance, so fair fecks.

It will probably turn out to be a disaster, for some reason, but in theory this is a good move and a bit of a coup.

don’t spend €70m on a 30 year old who thrives with better players around him unless you can acquire those better players before he turns 32.

Sort recruitment out so that we’re not buying piecemeal but adding multiple correct pieces simultaneously.

it’s quite simple really.

So again back to moaning for sake of moaning. We been struggling to buy players.

How the hell do we beef up a serious problems area and do all this top notch transfer work, we can't get the original targets since it's dead simple

Really hard to get excited about this. He’s a decent player but the reported 70 mil + add ons is an absolute joke. Real laughing all the way to the bank and Casemiro making a quick exit probably realising his playing time was about to get reduced due to Camavinga and Tchouameni.

United are a complete joke. Recruitment is absolute piss. I hope he does well but see Him becoming another expensive mistake.
How about, shut up.
This is one of the best midfielders of the last decade you clown
:houllier:Takes a redcafe poster to call Casemiro “decent”.
Decent player... Are you having a laugh? Might as well change your nickname to Andersons optician.
Decent?? He's a million miles better than any midfielder we have and he's a DM at that. How anyone can be downbeat about this is baffling to me.

Madrids announcement (note that bold bit for those saying he is past it and ‘decent’):

“Real Madrid CF and Manchester United have agreed on the transfer of the player Carlos Henrique Casemiro.

Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection for Casemiro, a player who is already part of the legend of this club.

Since he arrived in January 2013 to play for Castilla, at the age of 20, Casemiro has been one of the most transcendental players in one of the most important and successful periods in our history. During this time in which he has defended the shirt and shield of Real Madrid, he has won 18 titles: 5 European Cups, 3 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups. On an individual basis, he was named Best Player in the final of the European Super Cup won a few days ago in Helsinki and has been nominated for the 2022 Ballon d'Or.

In addition to this brilliant record, Casemiro will always represent the values of our club. An exemplary player who has given everything for Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and he wishes him and his whole family the best of luck in this new stage of his life.

Next Monday, August 22, at 11:30 a.m., an institutional act of homage and farewell to Casemiro will take place at Real Madrid City, with the presence of our president Florentino Pérez.

Following this act, Casemiro will appear before the media in the press room at Real Madrid City.

It’s mental to think these were just some of the posts in here 3 days ago when the news broke. Dont worry, I thought it was a load of bollocks too! But what a whirlwind few days!

I'm sure that's happening...
This is simply untrue.
Talk about silly season.
I'm a very optimistic United fan 99% of the time, but I just do not see why he would leave them for us right now. He's a starter and they're fighting for all the trophies. Unless he's a United fan like Varane, I just don't see it.
Hearing we’re also interested in Modric and Benzema.
Why would Madrid even entertain that?!
 feck sake
On what planet would both Madrid want to sell and he'd want to come
Come on guys, at least make it vaguely realistic.
So crazy, it has to be true.
As if.Taking the piss now,it's open season on MUFC
We're a fecking laughing stock.
Glazers gotta go,nothing changes until they gone.Embarrassing
Thanks, I needed a good laugh!
May as well put a bid in for Mbappe while we're at it.
Now this is peak silly season nonsense, not a fecking chance.
This is like a random declaring that they're interested in Ana de Armas. As interested as he is, it aint never gonna happen is it?
stop the madness
You know the club running out of a plan if you hear rumors after rumors, two weeks to the end. Should be already sending bids for players we planned to have. Another window of meandering from questionable deal to another.

Get a f*ckin clue, United... seriously. Deadline day is not a good day for planning things, long term, ffs.
In those long list of rules somewhere out there for posting tweets, may be the admins should consider adding another one - Don’t post improbable transfer gossip.
Next on Bullshit Central - Benzema wants to join Man United.
Ah ah ha. Good one
Leaving the best team in Europe for our circus.

It's getting embarrassing now amount of players linked with to fix our mess
Even if we were coming off the back of a title winning season, I wouldn't believe this nonsense.
feck off. Are there no rules for creating these fecking stupid transfer threads?

At least have a bit of common sense.
Yeah...right.

Unless? :o
Will never happen in 1 million year

Is he fook, half the people fawning over this signing have probably never watched a game of his. He is a decent player but one of the best midfielders of the last decade :houllier:
In La Liga last season he was first in blocks, third in possession won, second in tackles. He's not exactly bad as a disruptive midfielder even at the decrepit age of 30 :) He was also fifth in forward passes and 6th in shots.
