I think he'll get it, but not for the current offer and he has no right to get his dream move this summer, he has a contract.

Ajax isn't forced or obliged to sell him this summer at all, not lawfully or morally either.
It depends. They may have agreed to let him go for the right price hence him now behaving like this?

This could get very messy for Ajax as Antony won’t back down.

If United come in again I suggest that will be that. Here we go time.

Without even getting into the rest of it, where are you getting your figure from? They already rejected 80M Euros. They want 100. Thats what my entire argument is based on.
Multiple media outlets quite reliable have reported our bid to be €80m which is about £67m.

What they want and what they will get for a player who is reportedly now not training and clearly pushing to move is a different thing.

Ajax are a selling club and if they don’t sell a player who is outgrowing them a part of their appeal to young players will go.

He is my absolute favourite type of player to watch.

Couldn't care less about the money, would just be fun to watch him so I am all for it.

A offer of €70m has been turned down by Ajax and United are now preparing a new offer.

The Brazilian journo in question has been very good throughout the news about the player and was first to report about United being seriously interested in Antony.

It all depends it's difficult to judge like this. I actually think Rashford would be much better as a big fish in a small pond so he would probably get a good 15-20 goals if he went to a team like that. Soak up pressure and unleash on the counter. For teams like Man United you need someone with top class decision making and mentality.

I don't know if Antony has that or not but you could in theory find that sort of player from any league in Europe. You can't just say because Rash would be good in Eiridivisie (I don't think he would be at Ajax), that any other player isn't all that special
I just think if Rashford were playing in the Eredivisie, we would be desperate for his signature.

I also agree, by evidence of some of the recent signings made from the Portuguese League that the potential of a good signing is there, I do, however, think that the risk should be reflected in the price and that a signing of £70mil + should be close to a sure thing. This is obviously a job for our scouts to decide, but to me Anthony does seem a little bit raw for the price being quoted.

We have no idea what our budget is. Two weeks ago it looked like we have feck all. Now we are spending it left and right. I agree it's not ideal if this hampers other deals but he's the best option out there for the wing
The truth is if we deem it important enough, believe it will secure CL football and are able to have most fees on down-payments, this club can have a transfer budget like nobody's business. The difference between top 4 and not could quite literally be £200M in revenue on its own.

Yeah.. I loved the skilful players.. everyones too focussed on efficiency .. the flair is going out of the game..

I love a pointless stepover.. a shoulder drop... or 10 in this guys case..

Everyone doesnt have to be a world beater.. A consistent 7 who is fun to watch is perfectly fine.. If can do more, wonderful..

I would rather Ziyech and really test Barca's resolve with an improved offer, see if playing with Casemiro makes us any more attractive.
Barca accepting our offer isn’t the problem though. It never has been.

Also Ziyech and Antony are totally different profiles. Ziyech has done a great job so far of showing he can’t cut it in the premier league.

Yeah, but the real risk is, we could spend £500mil and not make champions league, then we would be in the shit

Why don't they just pay FDJ 17mil salary and get Antony in Jan?
It is beyond clear that any delay with Frenkie has nothing to do with us. If he were willing to come tomorrow, we’d pay what needs to be paid to make it happen.

Gakpo is not a sure fire flop at all and a brilliant talent in his own right. In fact, one who probably performed better than Antony last season.

I hope we get the pair personally, and I suspect that we will. Gakpo is, to le, a long term centre forward, and there are not many quality CF prospects around. We’ll get him and let Ronaldo go I think.
Whats the point of buying a LW and then converting him to be striker. If we need a 9 we should get a proper 9 and stop faffing about with wingers.

A stop gap for 40 mil because no one is
available at the moment is a total waste of money.

Also I refuse to believe that there no quality strikers available. Its just that none are on the open market. If we really wanted to we could find a decent one and not go through the whole converting a winger in to a striker thing.

I get that but Ajax should be reasonable really, the offer is more than fair.
I think he is worth about 60 million if we are being fair so I half agree.

Them being reasonable is fulfilling their end of the contract which obviously they will. Maybe he should have negotiated a release clause.

70M Euros? Was it not reported everywhere that we had a bid of 80M Euros rejected. If we had offered them 70M euros then I am confident another offer close to 75 to 80M euros will do the trick, which is equivalent to 64 - 68M Pounds, hopefully we will offer 50M Pounds fixed and another 15M Pounds in add ons, which is a better deal then the one reported days ago and I am sure everybody will be content with that price tag, knowing the add ons will only be paid if he is like really successful for Utd (50 goals or Ballon Dor Clause etc).

I haven't seen anything that suggests such an agreement has been made, and even if, what is the right price and who determines it?

I think Ajax will sell, just not for this offer.
He has no right to work where he wants?
Not really when you sign a contract, though most clubs are very reasonable.

Agree, someone like Mitrovic is a much safer bet - not that I think we should sign him, not in a million years.

I do totally agree with you but I think you'd be mad to refuse €100 million.

And as much as clubs have the contracts, there's such a risk with keeping players who don't want to be there. Fleece United for a sum you'll probably never be offered again and replace him for a fifth of the cost.

We'll have paid for your electricity for the next 100 years this summer.
You are right, and I don't think Ajax would refuse that.

They will probably accept a bit less than that, and will replace him with Ziyech.

Well yes, but there's a difference between how much we can spend and how much we should spend. My point is, if we need a bit more money to land a key reinforcement, we could swing it - for the right player.

The latest news from Brazil is via Thiago Fernandes who is said to be close to the Antony camp.

I agree, Antony is not a key reinforcement, however. FDJ would be imo. Obviously if we can, then yeah, why not take the risk on Antony.

If we get Antony, we can use Rashford more often as a striker, which is an area where we are short. Sancho on the left.

For me, Ronaldo should be playing as a pinch hitter. He is too static to press the way Ten Hag wants it.

I agree 100%. Which is who I suspect is on that list of "players we'll make an exception for". Antony will be bought with the initial budget.

If we can get him for 80m with 50-60 of that being fixed and the rest based on achievements then I'd be fine with that.

First thing is buying Casemiro and Antony would mean the end for McT and Rashford so that is worth a lot of money. Second having good season and finishing in top 4 or winning EL and getting Champions League means we will get like 100 mil more.

Fair enough.....maybe sitting on the bench until January will give him a kick in the arse.
