So, is the number 11 technically available?
Fecking well should be in my opinion. I can comfortably say that I don’t think that guy is playing professional football this season. He has a lot more pressing issues to deal with than a shirt number.

Halve of these should of resulted in 10x more assists. His teammates let him down with poor finishing. No wonder his numbers aren’t higher.
Exactly, just shows stats aren't everything. 10 more assists to his name would make him 'look' better

The money is obviously ridiculous, and it’s typical of the way this club is run that we’ve ended up overpaying because we left it so late, rather then getting it done earlier in the summer.

BUT…

I am incredibly excited to see him in action. We’ve been so starved of genuinely exciting wingers for so long that I just can’t help getting a little giddy at the prospect of watching this guy twisting defenders inside out. When was the last time we had a player like that? Nani?? He’s also going to bring some proper balance to the attack which has been sorely missing. Hope he can hit the ground running.

More likely what you see in a highlight clip is not representative of the player's overall contribution.

Over the last two years in Eredivisie play Antony had a total xA of 9.49 and 12 actual assists (per InfoGol stats) so if anything he has been helped by good finishing from his teammates.

For reference, Tadic over those two years had a total xA of 32.4.

Sorry I prefer to believe what I see with my eyes.

If you can watch that video and not see expected assists or whatever nonsense you're talking, then clearly the system is failing.

Don't know why people here have the hump with the Ajax manager , I would hope our manger would be as equally angry and vocal in the same situation.

Selfishly as as Utd fan I am happy Antony acted up to force the move , as it worked in our favour here.

But I can also understand the justified anger at Ajax.

Sorry just got offended putting Giggs in same category as mg shouldn't have commented.
I need to hear this poetry thing I think.
Why? Both are, by all accounts pretty terrible people - no comparison from a football perspective though.

also - pretty certain Antony isnt much of a poet… much like Giggs ironically. But yes - definitely read it, it’s hilarious.

Agree. If the shoe was on the other foot, we would be pissed.

Anthony acted like a baby. Players should continue to play and be professional, regardless of their desire the leave. He signed the contract with Ajax - expect to honor it. He was talking to Fabrizio Romano saying that Ajax was only meant to be a "2 year project". Then why sign until 2025 then?

Who knows, if he is massive success and Real Madrid come knocking and he could do the same to us.
