This guy has become my all time favourite Liverpool player. He’s a true joy to watch!

It was funny seeing him miss a sitter and then try to jeer up the crowd. About 3 fans cheered

He is truly our Maguire. The opposition fans absolutely love him and the money we spent on him. And for good reason too.

Unlike with Maguire and Utd Cafe fans I'm not going to spend two seasons doing mental gymnastics on that hill. He's shit and we see it. We see it in two months.

The best part for us opposition fans is Liverpool have no choice but to try and make him work because of the amount of money spent on him. They certainly won’t recoup anywhere near that unless he plays. It means more game time which is great!

It’s going to be interesting how Klopp deals with it and is brave enough to keep him benched.

Hey man, we're here for the excuses as to why he hasn't set the league on fire yet, don't deny us that, it's too early for resignation.

we signed Maguire based on great performances for Leicester, won the title and played good for England. I thought it was a good signing, just not worked out, no idea why though

your recruitment has been insane for the last few years so surely you can’t be writing him off this soon? I think the mane loss, Salah got his contract and downed tools is affecting you more than anticipated.

I’m all for rivalry but I honestly hope he works out for you for his sake more than yours . A lot of pressure for a young guy to handle

He’s never won the Prem. He was busy getting teams relegated.

I think you forgot the contract we all signed as MUFC fans where hating on Liverpool is absolutely mandatory.

 I know you lads on here aren't stupid but I'm sure RAWK will deliver for us at some point soon.
That's a low blow. :(

Nunez is young and Klopp really is a magician so, who knows, if there's anyone to get a tune out of him it's Klopp. But I'm watching his basic football, the touch, the body position, the release of the ball and mainly the brains of what's going on around him. It's not looking good, even this early and in a new country.

Destined for Fenerbache or Galatasaray before playing for a mid table French club.

So bad. He's so uncomfortable on the ball and we don't play in a way that suited him at Benfica either. Still early but based on what I've seen so far I think we'll probably end up letting him go for half the money in a year or two. He actually seems to nullify Salah as a goal threat.

RAWK have got us covered:

I think he'll be a useful option for us at times. Not sure anyone can argue he's particular gifted in any area but maybe we'll find a way to utilise him in certain situations.
Thought that was a decent little cameo actually. Yes he missed a great chance but actually thought his touch and passing looked a lot better which is encouraging as I mainly fear the opposite with him - that he'll score plenty of goals but that the level of his all-round game will be to the detriment of the team.

Positive steps.
Darwin the dunce.
That wasn't the kind of game that suits him. Opposition sitting back, very little space. He was fine, but he has been snatching at his shots since joining us.
Hopefully for his and our sake this is not true. The amount of games we play which does not fit this profile can be counted on one hand.
Did really well i thought when he came on. Don't understand all the negative comments towards him to be honest.
Needs to score 6 tonight to keep up with Haaland.
You jest, but you've hit the nerve there. Maybe it's because they were bought at around the same time and for large fees but, for some reason, everything Nunez does is measured against what Haarland does.

It's bizarre, because no other new striker at any other club is being held up against Haarland, just Nunez.
That's because he's a Liverpool player. And Liverpool players are always measured up against other clubs players. Look at Trent, Alisson and Virg to name a few. There's an obsession with us and our players.
I get that, but the Mancs are a big club too, and I don't see their strikers' reputations standing or falling via a head-to-head comparison with Haarland.
Can't wait to see how Nunez develops under Klopp.
feck the fee, trust the man that developed Salah and Mane into elite forwards.

What Haaland does is irrelevant. City are paying huge wages for the finished article.
Our lad is a diamond in the rough.

This is a season of transition and it is painful to watch.
One thing that doesn't worry me is our new striker.
Not true, but okay...
Personally, I feel it's a carefully constructed media, pundit, social media narrative designed to unsettle and disrupt Nunez, and has been in place since he rejected Old Trafford in favour of Anfield.
Or transfer fee's climb year on year and forwards cost the most?
An interesting fact is that Nunez is Almerias, Benficas and Liverpools club record signing (or was at least when he was first bought). We all seemed to have seen something special with the guy.
Quote from Luis Suarez:

I recommended Darwin to Barcelona. I have 15 years of experience, so I know a thing or two about forwards.

"I told them: 'pay attention to this one, he is very good, he has very interesting things'. They didn't listen."
The quote is surely missing the line where Suarez says he as the worst technique he's ever seen.
Also not having enough bite in his game.
Yeah but what's he done for Liverpool?
Are you having a laugh. Dribbling at speed is one of Nunez's best attributes. Did you actually see him play for Benfica ?
He has scored 2 goals in 235 minutes for us so far this season. How is that a lack of goals ?
Your right Al, why would anybody complain about Nunez or compare him to Haaland then? Close the thread IMO.
Give him the service they said. I can’t fault lads effort, he’s clearly giving his everything. But that price tag alone is making a lot of people worried.
He done fine but you can sense the edgeness when a chance arrives.
Seems very nervous. He will need time
You can't really expect strikers to score on every good chance he gets. He had a decent cameo this time around, did a lot of good things.
Yes, it happens every game
Thought he did really well with that chance he set up for Díaz. Snatched at his shooting chance a bit but it happens.
I only saw the commentary before I saw the chance so I thought "oh no, hope he's not made an embarrassing pig's ear of it" but he caught it well enough and it just dragged wide. It happens. Great bit of work not long after that though nearly teeing up Diaz.
Nah, strikers miss most of those "should have scored" chances and that's been empirically proven. Personally I was happy he didn't hit it directly at the keeper like everyone else.
Makes brilliant runs and would have got an assist only for the one good moment their keeper had.

Only took a quick scan on YouTube to see he’s not comfortable on the ball.

I've seen this mistake made one too many times. Amazing to think he was playing championship level 3 years before we signed him for £80m
Seriously, how can people actually believe a team with Maguire can ever win the league is beyond me.
