I only hope they manage to find a way to contact the Freedom of Russia legion.

Stroke of military brilliance there. Can’t see anything bad happening by sending anti-war folks to man your trenches.
The problem is that, given the state of Russian materiel, they can't pull the old "grenade accidentally went off" trick around the officers.

Some people with knives would make those goons' job a lot more challenging. They're cowards who gang up 2, 3, 4 on 1 against peaceful protestors. They deserve to get shanked with a rusty knife. The problem for the world is that Putin has all of the people likely to fight back physically on his side.

Red Card for Casemiro!
Do you know this for sure? I'm still in Moscow 7 months in, recovering, physically & mentally, from an accident where my best friend also got killed, plus my grandparents won't have anyone to look after them if I were to leave; I've been openly opposing Putin, going on protests since before I turned 18, I've protested against the inclusion of Crimea, went on the streets when the war started etc.; I wonder, would you turn me down if I was trying to run away? After all, I've had 7 months to leave and chose not to. Or the majority of people that I was hypothetically crossing the border with did and who cares about the rest.

This logic is also used by Estonian and Finnish border control when they're turning down Ukrainians that fled from the war to Russia (because it was the only way) and stayed there longer than the border control felt was appropriate, which angers me way more than the same treatment that Russians get for obvious reasons. But it's the logic itself that is at fault. Do an interview and don't let the war supporters in, don't fecking shut down the Iron Curtain from outside.
I am sorry for your loss and the circumstances you've found yourself in, but I am also in awe of the courage and resilience you are displaying. Many people must be taking inspiration from you, hope this all ends sooner rather than later.

Hope Putin is taken down from within before things start to escalate.

What happened at 18:03 ?
A man in his 50s assaulted him because "he didn't speak Russian". Obviously some nationalistic types do not like English speaking people on the streets. For some, Russia is not fighting their brothers the Ukrainians, Russia is fighting the West.

Yeah, pretty grim stuff to get randomly assaulted on the street during a live stream.

Incredible how highly Russia valued Medvedchuk. Russians again going back on their public commitments not to trade Azovstal POWs for him. That will go down badly in Russia:

The whole country is going to the gutter pretty fast. Depressing stuff all around. Problem is they're drawing Ukraine to the gutter along with them.

Regular russians are against the war though. When the west will finally get that putin is only a reflection of majority in russia, we’ll be able to move forward properly with our policies on russia. It’s not putin’s war as they try to paint in some western countries.

Girkin, who is one of the main opinion-makers for radicalized warmongers, talks about the treason somewhere in the Russian higher-ups.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
Can you even seek asylum to avoid conscription?

No but yes.

3. The position can be summarized in the following terms:

a) Fear of prosecution or punishment for draft-evasion does not in itself constitute well-founded fear of persecution under the definition. Conversely, draft-evasion does not exclude a person from being a refugee. He or she may be a draft evador and a refugee;

b) There are cases where the necessity to perform military service may be the sole ground for a claim to refugee status, i.e. when a person can show that the performance of military service would have required his participation in military action contrary to his genuine political, religious or moral convictions, or to valid reasons of conscience;

c) Not every conviction, genuine though it may be, will constitute a sufficient reason for claiming refugee status after draft-evasion. Where however the type of military action, with which an individual does not wish to be associated, is condemned by the international community as contray to basic rules of human conduct, punishment for draft-evasion could, in the light of all other requirements of the definition, in itself be regarded as persecution:

d) A person whose refusal to perform military service is based on genuine religious, moral or political convictions can also be considered a refugee, provided that the genuineness of such convictions and the likelihood of prosecution and sanction, or other treatment amounting to persecution, are established.

e) Assuming that the religious, moral or political conviction advanced is reasonably credible, and surrounding circumstances of the case do not argue otherwise, a draft evador of that description may be accorded refugee status even though the punishment be faces does not differ substantially from that meted out generally for this offence because of simple disinclination to serve.

@harms , I remember when you posted a while ago about recovering from some health issues. I'm really sorry to hear that it was an accident that also cost the life of your best friend, I can't begin to imagine your pain. And having to go through it all while the country you're from and live in engages in this horrific conflict that I know that you're against.

Thanks for your continued posts here which provide a lot of clarity and context as far as what's accurate and what isn't coming out of Russia. Stay safe, man.
this 100% harms, massive respect to you man. Caught between a rock and a hard place. Keep your chin up, and keep safe for fecks sake. Easy for armchair rambos to say you should do this or that. Do what's right for you and your family.

You make out as if propaganda isn’t a thing. If the people with influence all day one thing, it convinces people that it’s the truth (see: Brexit)

Yakutsk. Couldn't be much further away from Ukraine, but more importantly perhaps, couldn't be much further away from Moscow.

They aren’t even making any attempt to save her either. That’s grim.
Indeed it is.
But they were sure to drag her out of the way of the cameras into some kind of doorway.
To my mind. Those protesters are just as brave as the Ukrainian soldiers fighting against the Russian invaders.

So much for 35km queues.

Out of these 4824 a total of one person sought asylum and 36 temporary protection.
That particular one was debunked really i think, but the queues are still there, not that bad yet though. Our police is monitoring and sharing the information with their Finnish colleagues in terms of people crossing the border also. It was covered in our news last night.

You concluded that from 2 tweets? Its not all black and white, especially since one video is concscripted people saying goodbyes to their love ones and the other is a queue in Yakutsk, long way from Moscow. Also add protests in a lot of cities and your post sounds wrong.

The queues have been 50-250m which is normal. Slightly more people crossing than a week ago but about 30% less than in 2019.

Seems like dissent is increasing all throughout the land.

Translation: Kadyrov for sending young people to war in Ukraine.

“You call people to go to Paradise, but you yourself do not go there. You don't want to die. You want to lie warm, eat delicious food and have fat conversations, ”Salah Mezhiev said.
