I've said it time and time again, but I really do feel we've got the next super manager after Pep and Klopp on our hands.

Let him cook. Good times ahead for this football club.

I agree with the bolded part. He's got excellent potential and that should excite us. But calling him the next super manager is a bit too soon I think. I'll wait till...

1. We go on a 10 game winning streak in the league.
2. We put on at least one absolutely majestic display against a proper top team (no, spurs aren't one), playing them off the park. Like Pep did vs Real in that 2-6, against us in the 2011 final of CL, like Klopp had the 4-0 with Dortmund against Real, or that 3-0 against City in the CL.

Nice stat.

When ETH praised Conte, he said you can see Conte's fingerprints and influence on his team and that was a big compliment.

We are now starting to see ETH's influence on our team even beyond the individual improvements. The intensity, movement, creativity, pressing is all there in ever increasing doses.

After Saturdays game, we will have played 8 of our 11 games against the other 8 teams in the top 9. All 3 losses came against teams in the top 9. It's an incredible strength of schedule and EtH has done great. Compare that to Arsenal who have had a relatively easy start to the season and I think perspective shows that we are definitely on the right track. There will be bumps in the road, undoubtedly, but right now just being able to see the vision and style of play that is beginning to take shape, is really encouraging.

Can't say enough about how spot on his signings have been so far, lets get him whoever he asks for please.

If the man wants Gapko, get him Gapko. If he still persists with DeJong, just pay Barca whatever it requires.

Imo what ETH has managed so far is already really impressive:

- Bench Maguire and Ronaldo. Superb dressing room management.
- Turned our 'I'd never leave my 5 yards box' old DDG into a modern sweep keeper with superb distribution
- Turned the 'we should bin him asap' Martial to the current 'any news on his injury?' Martial.
- Made Fred looks like a top midfielder
- Get Rashford somewhat back to his old form.
- Turned Dalot into a very good offensive RB with solid defensive ability.
- Turn our whole squad 'we can't string two passes together' into one of the most collectivelly accurate passing team.
- Turned our gungho Hollywood half striker Bruno into a central midfielder capaple of dictating the tempo/intensity of the match

And the organized pressing, the struture, many things more. I simply can say I'm extremely impressed. Look like we do have the right manager this time guys

It's still staggering to me we waited 10 years to make this kind of appointment - to look around Europe and identify who could be the next great coach(es). Smaller clubs manage to identify guys who could be great or take them to the next level, like Southampton with Pochettino, but it took years of madness for us to make such an appointment (which, at the very least, should've been made after Van Gaal).

But I don't want to be a downer and focus on that. Things are looking up, lessons have surely been learnt now. I'm so happy with the quality of player he's brought in, as others have aid, for their mentality as much as anything. Other clubs will decline, so we have to be ready to get back to the top.

"Against a solid and magnificent Tottenham, we have played and performed very well. Today was a brilliant performance. We scored two goals and I think we should have scored three or four goals. I'm pleased with the team - it was the best team performance so far this season. You can see today that we are developing. We are getting better every time on the pitch. It was enjoyable to see this."

"Bruno scored, eh? I know it will come with him. Sometimes, you have appearances where you don't score but, all of a sudden, you've found the back of the net. I think, for Bruno, it is important that he scored a goal but he played a magnificent game today."

"I'm happy. It's the same as Sunday [against Newcastle United] as we defended [just] as well and had a clean sheet. You see how proactive we play from good defensive organisation, very proactive in pressing and you saw the problems we cause for opponents. Also, on Sunday, we didn't concede chances from open play. This is a base to win games and get into positions where you want to be in the end."

"I think so but it's not about me. It was the best performance of the team in the season. That is what you want. You want to see the progress in the team and that is what I've seen today but not only today. In many games, I've seen it. Sunday, we were all disappointed with Sunday's game, but we had a clean sheet, as we did today. So we see now when you want to get success, you have to defend proactively and do it with 11. It's what we are doing, acting as a team and it is always the base to get success in the season."

"In possession, I think we were really good with switch of play, the full-backs did really well. They all did well. We kept the patience in the opposition half as that is what Spurs are aiming for, for us to lose balls so they can make a quick counter-attack. We almost didn't let that happen and that is a big compliment to the team. Just one moment, before half-time, we had to break their counter-attack, a really dangerous attack from them. When we do that, with good rest defence, patience on the ball, we create chances. You've seen that, before and after half-time, we created a lot of chances and didn't allow them too many counter-attack opportunities."

"I was there, I have seen him, but I didn't speak with him. I don't pay attention today, we deal with that tomorrow. I want to focus on this team, it was a magnificent performance from all 11 players. I have to correct myself, it was a performance also from the subs who came on. A squad performance."

"I think this team has confidence. It's about getting ready for that Chelsea game. It's also what I just told in the dressing room to the lads. Get ready as a team, as a player, it's about recovery, about sleep, about food. Get ready for the next game and then, once again, we need that same performance. We have to deliver every day, live every day to the maximum. Live every day accounting to high standards. When you do this, you develop as a team and come on the good side of the process. I'm happy for today and already looking forward to Saturday, as it's another big match."

He's really starting to show his quality. We are very good in defence and central midfield now and his transfers have been spot on. He's handling the Ronaldo tantrums perfectly as well.

If we don't get top 4 or win the EL, I really hope the club is smart enough to not call it quits. Incremental and foundational improvements are key.

Nah they won’t be that daft. It’s a lil different from previous managers who left as we were established in the top four the previous season. At the start of this year top four wasn’t realistic for us.

I was pessimistic about our future under the Glazers during the summer, but I was 100% behind the appointment of Ten Hag, he's the first manager we've hired since SAF that was "on the up".

From the little time he's been here you can see the changes he's making pay dividends on the pitch already, which speaks volumes from where he had to start.

He needs to be backed, get a team to help find him the right players who are ready to take the next step and there's no reason why he can't be our Pep.

The positive signs have been there for awhile, despite what the negative Nancys will tell you. This us all going to take time, and by this stage next season, I expect we'll look a very good side.

This season though will be full of bumps in the road, and that's to be expected.

He looks a bit of a problem for the big clubs like the way Ajax used to perform in the CL under him.

Im hoping that we can take the Europa League well and win it our way in to the CL.

Will he finally bring us to the promised land of European football? I sure hope so, lack of close compared to the other big boys of Europe has always been one of our weak points.

Oh, manna from heaven. That's the sort of manager speak we've all been dreaming of, on the back of the sort of performance we've been waiting years for. I loved last night and loved how he talked about the importance of the Newcastle performance. Some downright hysterical posts in here after that, as if it was the same as the bad old days. We've a base a real, solid, high quality, central base for the first time in how long? Well before Fergie finished. I think we'll still have days where we draw blanks but the solidity and control we displayed last night has been the holy grail for us and it's coming. He's doing God's work Erik.

Yeah, as much as I love to see us play I love to read his comments to. He says all the right things. They've even put his eh in there. "He scored, eh?"

After all the immediate euphoria has died down, now reflecting on the match, I feel like we were awesome but some of it is due to how abject Spurs were particularly their CM. I'd say 70% we were good 30% they were bad.

It's been a long time since we have managed to dominate a big side like we did last night. And you can still say we were not even playing our best side (Eriksen and Martial were out).

Next Chelsea please.

I hope they make me eat my words. Martinez and Antony for sure, Casemiro worries me but let's wait and see.
not sure how you can say that after the performance last night as he was brilliant in reading the game to stay the counters from spurs.....also what he's done is allow Fred to play higher up the pitch which helps with the coutner press and it keeps Fred off the ball in our defensive half :)

It's a shame that who shall not be named is no longer playing. Just imagine his development under Ten Hag. Need a new striker asap.

ten Hag must be given patience from supporters and funds from the owners to build us into a great team.

He's the only guy post-Fergie that I feel confident that could get us where we belong.
Still stand by this - excited to see what we could be with a proper #9 and another CM.

Right now find a proper #9 to play in ETH's system won't be easy....there aren't a ton of CF's that really want to do all that running and pressing but can still produce the goods

Said it in the other thread but the club statement on Ronaldo is a huge marker I think. We've had instances of player power undermining managers everytime in the post SAF era and this early warning against one of the best players of all time is quite the statement I think.
