So you really think he chose you? Us and arsenal refused to pay what they wanted. Yous did because your desperate
I have no idea. I’m just telling you it’s Ornstein, who everyone considers tier one, who reported that little nugget.

Ten Hag wanted Nunez. Liverpool gets Nunez.
Ten Hag says he needs Gapko. Gapko goes to Liverpool.
Ten Hag says bring me Felix. Felix goes to Chelsea.
Feel bad for him, he is trying to get something going here.
None of those apart from Gakpo we have any confirmation on.

I think ETH is the type of manager that is happy to work with any top class footballers.

Martinez and Antony seemed ones he didn't want to lose, the rest are just kind of "ok" with.

- Nunez went for 100m EUR. Ten Hag wont complain about that whatsoever.
- Ten Hag wanted Antony over Gakpo and got his wish.
- Ten Hag also pushed a club pursuit over FdJ at the risk of inflating other targets, which was a bad joint call by both he and Murtough. The fact that Casemiro was landed, a better player and better fit for us, means he's had the club do very well for him.

This is before we consider how he got Eriksen, Martinez, Malacia at his wish.

This idea that the club is failing Ten Hag is absolute stone cold utter nonsense.

Especially not Felix. The fact we never went for Felix says a lot. And it doesnt say ETH wanted him and told get him in.
Gakpo was an option in the summer and we never went for him.

Did Hag want Nunuz ? Not sure.
Gapko ? Hag, rightly or wrongly, opted for Antony instead.
Felix ? again, who know's, but the deal just sounds awful, whichever way you look at it.

They are failing him. But it’s completely normal. What we need to focus on is reducing that failure rate. City have failed Pep numerous times if stories true.

Ed Boehly secured Alexis Sanchez ahead of them.

Chelsea got Jorginho ahead of them.

Also forgot Ed Boehly also delivered Maguire and Fred above them.

This has been mainly down to good structure however. I.e. not breaking wage structures and overpaying on fee against players quality.

Except for Gakpo I think the club has done well in this manner. But in reverse they have still manager to f up transfer fees last summer.

If we desperately wanted him, I can't see us hesitating over it.

Didn't we 'apparently' bid over 100m in the summer? sounds like if we had the chance we'd snap their hands off.

I'm thinking it was all media pressure from Mendes in the first place.

A number 10 or LW is the last place we need realistically.

Yeah some keep peddling the thought of all of the mentioned players being our priority thus the owners denying ETH his wished players which is not true.

Whilst I can understand why people are disappointed about missing out on Felix, I think theres a high likelihood that this wont work out well for Chelsea:
  1. With the loan fee, wages and taxes Chelsea are paying close to £700k a week for the privilege of loaning Joao Felix - this is more than we were paying for Ronaldo and closer to Mbappe levels of investment.
  2. Felix has a 1 in 4 goal scoring record in la liga. He’d have to find the best form of his entire career to score more than 5 goals for Chelsea.
  3. People blame Simeone for this poor return but his record for Portugal is 1 in 7 (4 goals in 28 appearances). Hardly prolific.
  4. He has an extensive history of ankle injuries which will no doubt be a worry for a slight-bodied 23 year old playing in one of the worlds most physical leagues for the first time.
  5. Felix has never played more than 1700 minutes in the league in his career. Thats around 18 full games per season. The intensity of the premier league is already a huge step up, let alone in a season like this where there are games every 3 or 4 days. His form or fitness will likely deteriorate long before the season ends.
  6. He’ll be playing in London away from most of his Portuguese compatriots (most of whom are up north) in a struggling Chelsea team where both the fan base and dressing room appears to be at odds with the manager.
  7. Even if he bucks trend and breaks the Chelsea forward curse Chelsea have no option to make the deal permanent and will likely be held over a barrell by Atletico.
The most likely outcome here is that Felix shows flashes of talent, scores very few goals and ends up injured or exhausted. He’ll ride the bench for the remainder of the season before heading back to Atletico, just like Saul Niguez before him.

Without a purchase option he has to hit the ground running. Paying 11 million plus wages for 5 months is crazy.

Very good post which I agree. Like I said in a previous post, let's see what are the excuses if he fails at Chelsea. Felix seems to have very good media although he has proved little. Always said he should have stayed one more year at Benfica to consolidate his game. Atlético was also a very bad fit. He has wasted the last two years of his career.

He’s extending his contract at AM despite the loan
Is it actually happening? Because if that was going to happen and it was hypothetically us agreeing the loan deal, then that hypothetical deal would have soured quickly and we‘d look stupid, because if Simeone is leaving then we’re just prepping him for their next season while paying for the endeavour.

Unless they buy him permanently.
He’s singing a new contract with Atletico until 2027 before the move.

They have no option.

it’s a ridiculously poor deal
It's not impossible to buy him but it's becomes several magnitudes harder and more costly to do so. If he turns into the Portuguese Messi at Chelsea, AM will demand a King's ransom for him.

Why would he sign a new contract though when he doesn’t get on with simeone? Makes no sense at all.

4 year extension you are looking at at least €200M

With Simeone gone, he ain’t going to Chelsea on a permanent deal

Id also say the player is hardly keen to leave either given he’s signed a new 4 year deal..

No wonder everyone else laughed at it

had one good season at Benfica and nothing elsewhere. Atleti was the one got scammed and they're trying to scam other clubs back otherwise they would never go lower than what the paid for Felix.
Sure the talent is there somewhere.. but United is not in the position to make experiment right now. If he was a striker, I'm sure club would go all in for him. It's a fecking loan deal, get a grip, United still can try again in summer if he's ETH's top priority target, which I don't think he is

I would say it's 99% sure he doesn't go to Chelsea permanantly but Boehly seems the type who would drop £200m out of desperation.

Because Simeone will leave, I also read it has something to do with FFP.

Anyway, most of the time Mendes clients have little say in that stuff.
