I mean he did a proper strikers job and actually attacked the goal instead of dropping short (understanding when to do that is important), which opened the space for Bruno
Nah, he made an important run to open the space.
It was just a bit of joke based on how when Donny was praised for doing similar off the ball movements, others moaned about him not doing anything.

Ericksen's run that Rashford played in before the goal is really interesting, I feel like the fact that he does it at 50% speed almost makes it less likely to be picked up. I know that the man on him still screwed up by trying to pass Ericksen off to the other defender, but in general I think neither of them thought Ericksen casually strolling through was really looking to receive a through ball, too used to players sprinting, pointing and yelling when they're looking to be played in.

Lovely pass from rashford for the goal, stood still made the defenders stop for a split second then played the pass. Nice run from Erikson and Wout too

Struggling to see how Weghorst looked good in that half. Unless anyone fancies a bit of silent domination.
He's caused Palace players to give the ball back to us 3 or 4 times with his pressing. Lots of flicks and some hold up play on the ball. Also if you watch the goal he made a run and their DM followed him, vacating the space that Bruno scored from. He's looked pretty good IMO.

Some credit must also go to the fact, that we have kept up the tempo and intensity throughout the half. No wonder their concentration would take a dip at some point, and we were cynical enough to take advantage of it.

This goal looked to easy to believe. The passing options were almost too obvious and yet Palace had no answer to it. But I think a lot of it comes down to the way we have kept on attacking and kept them busy.

I bet we will get used to seeing more of these seemingly easy goals, where we manage to calmly play through a tired defence.
horibble but very typical goal for us to concede in all fairness, we have a habit of switching off like that in key moments. PV hasn’t found an answer to it yet.

AWB been an absolute beast. Man of the first half.
wout has had a few nice touches but looks a little of the pace to me.

I know we aren't the finished article and there will still be blips but it's great what having a manager who's good at actually coaching does, and signing the right type of players

Also it's showing he who must not be named was in fact a problem. It's nice not seeing everyone desperately trying to get the ball to him and him alone

I've been a big critic of AWB but he's been fantastic in this half. He still looks prone to a heavy touch but he has a much better idea of what to do when he receives the ball, which means that he's already moving in a direction with the first touch, as opposed to using his first touch to place the ball at his feet by the touchline, and then deciding what he wants to do with the ball. That's the real effect of "training the brain" or programming players which proper coaching does.

Eriksen and Bruno are lately slated a lot. But they are doing fantastic job every game.
    Our midfield is great. Finally

Nervy start but we got over it and after De Gea's marvellous save the fire was lit to get the goal. This is looking like the United I remember under Sir Alex. Very pleasantly surprised by Wan Bissaka who is staking a serious claim for the first team.

It's the same thing anyways. Both languages are similar. Don't know what's your point.

I don't like Bruno's attitude at all. I think United won't get much success as long as he is the captain, and besides that, I don't like his game. He has quality, but most of the time I don't like the decisions he takes. And I'm saying this even if he's scored.

But then again, his attitude of talking to teamnates while making gestures with the arms/hands is just stupid. If he was playing during Keane era, he would've got tought a lesson at the dressing room. You just don't do that. Not to mention if you're the captain.
Leads the team in chances created and is 3rd in the PL overall this season but you don't like his decisions? Thank God you are not picking the team.

The Bein Sports commentators have been calling the half more fair than Sky it seems. They've been impressed with our play (as have I) and seen the dominance grow through the half.

Sounds like Andy Townsend on a little helium, not sure the who the other guy is

Can't believe someone called Eriksen a pointless signing in his performance thread... He's feckin' great
Don't think he's pointless, especially for the money we got him but he's showing very similar performance trajectory as Matic, class the first 15 games or so (bar the odd shocker agaisnt brentford..) but slowly fading away showing some class on the ball but often being overrun in faster, bigger games. Too ieasy against the lieks of Hughes who can't keep the ball to save their life, helped by great proactive CB performance to sweep the balls too and positionally outstanding Cas.

I'd get him off and keep Fred in rhztm for Arsenal 30 mins to go..

AWB is another example of the work ETH has done. He’s been unbelievable again. It’s kind of hard to say who’s staying and who’s going now because a lot of players have improved massively.
Yes, the transformation in AWB is amazing and I’m delighted to be proven wrong about him. Big credit to AWB himself for turning it around but it just shows the power of coaching and motivation. After 10 years of has-beens and never-weres, we got too used to the idea that the players are useless and we need 11 new ones.

If I could get a dollar every time Antony takes on his man instead of turning back and giving the ball back, I'd live under a bridge.

Sky commentators are annoying, Crystal Palace offered absolutely nothing going forward then created a shot out of nothing, good play by Eduard in fairness. But if you listened to Sky you would think this was an end to end thriller instead of Palace sitting deep and defending like mad.
United totally dominated the ball and we're creating half chances here and there. It was only a matter of time until we scored.
Now Palace have to come out United will pick them off on the counter. 3-0 United, Rashford and Weighurst to nick them

Inverse Weghorst. Complete opposite of what I thought he’d be. Great touches and hold up play. Work ethic makes such a difference. Downside is he looks like he’s slowing down when accelerating
That's kinda been what all the articles and YouTube analysis of he's game have been raving about so it hasn't come as a surprise really for me. Except for maybe being a bit more slower than expected.

Weghorst has settled in really well. some great link up play, good runs and counter pressing like a mad man. he’s won so many balls already.

    great signing I think
Eth said many many times that he wants from striker to hold the ball and press. Exactly what Wout is doing pretty well today.

Wout has done OK but this team with a world-class, dynamic, aggressive CF could be unbelievable...add prime Diego Costa or Suarez or similar and id have us a serious title contenders

I quite like Weghorst so far. Not sure what people are missing, but they're obviously missing how often he closes down defenders and how that's contributed greatly to Palace recycling the ball back to us.

I think Weghorst has been fine. His limitations are pace and a bit of strength but ETH would have known his before he signed him however he is working hard and had some nice touches.

Very much feels like a Crouch type of player in style.

It's a hard game to judge Weghorst on anyway, he's done well for this game.

Rashford and Antony both off the boil so isn't getting the service from them.

Yeah but it's far more important that a striker makes the right runs even if he doesn't get involved than a midfielder! You need your midfielders involved

It is possible for Rashford to just not have a good game? He doesnt have to be 'wrecked' or 'carrying an injury'? No player is good every game, not even current Rashford.
People were saying the same after the first half v City too. Turned out well in the end :) and subtly playing Eriksen through was a nice key pass.
