I said this is another thread but I’ll fine them for being so unprofessional. Use the funds to pay back the travelling fans and donate the rest.

And yes they need to be punished physically too - extra training sessions.

I think we’re past giving them laps or something, plus they’re too tired for that. We know what they’re capable of, we actually could’ve gone in leading at half time - they just sulked once things didn’t go their way and their heads dropped. Ten Hag has to find a way of not letting that happen. I thought we were getting there after a string of recent comebacks but there’s clearly a long way to go.

7 goals. 7 deadly sins.

Pretty obvious isn't it?

Sell the vast majority of them over the course of the next 18 months.

Punishment should come in the form of EtH now knowing exactly who these players truly are.

De Gea, Bruno, Dalot, Weghorst, Shaw need to ride pine for at least 3 games. Because we have players who can play in their place and the drop will not be so massive.

Antony - Permanently benched. Not good enough and will never be good enough. Useless player.

Casemiro, Varane, Martinez, Rashford - Stern talking to and 40km run. Too important to the team right now so you need to keep them onside till we can build a deeper squad in the summer. But make sure it registers in their heads that their performance was not acceptable.

Asking them on a voluntary basis to donate their weeks salary to the MUFC Foundation that can in turn distribute the funds to a worthy cause in the Manchester area.

Anyone who wants to pay ammends can raise their hands on the training pitch. Social pressure will ensure that everyone pays together.

These players all earn a small fortune on a weekly basis. They can absolutely afford this one week on the back on a massive transgression like this.

Test of character now.

He has to have a group meeting and a one-to-one with them all and take a note of all the reactions and see who both acknowledges and shows genuine remorse for what happened, and who shows signs of victim mentality or blames other factors.

This is an in-house job and effectively a way to decide who has a future here - particularly those who've been here before.

Change every channel on their TV to just show yesterday's game.

Bad results and bad performances happen. You don’t punish that.

If you want publicly mark a line in the sand as to what is acceptable and what isn’t, you do it by dropping the senior players who should understand and react accordingly.

There is no punishment for it, they should already know it’s not acceptable to down tools like that.

watching the game back once is enough, can’t scar them anymore than they already are.

You do. Ten hag did at the start of the season by making his players run on their day off.

Gather them all in a room together, enter late, stare at everyone for 3 minutes without saying anything, then tell them how to beat Betis

Sure they are feeling disgusted and ashamed, but I'd reckon tattooing 7 Nil on their foreheads should do as a reminder.

I don’t know if Ten Hag commented publicly, but the briefings to the media were very much that Ten Hag punished the lack of effort and distance covered in the Brentford match, not the result. What was unacceptable was getting outworked and outfought, not Brentford being clinical on the day.

Be process-oriented, not outcome-oriented.

Half of me wants to say they should have a long punishing run, but at the same time we still have a feckload of fixtures coming up and wearing them out even more might not help. Although if they were too tired for Betis as a result and ended up getting knocked out, that would definitely teach them.

Definitely a couple should be dropped though, and 100% Bruno should not have that armband for his next games because he was arguably the worst of the bunch and an awful example of what a captain should be.

I'd have them start work on the new Old Trafford they can start by digging the foundations

So what's the difference here. Our performance and effort was worse yesterday than vs Brentford.

It would serve Ten Hag no good to go nuclear at this juncture. He has established his influence and punishment would only be theatre.

If I were him, I'd admit my own part in it and ask them where they think it went wrong, understand and learn - bond through trauma and all that.

You do nothing. Players aren't machines and its not their fault that they had been ran to the ground. We simply lack the reserves needed to rest players

But how does the club punish ETH for that inept managerial display? He’s just as much to blame as the players: playing Rashford, Bruno and Weghorst out of position; playing Dalot when he’s clearly been off the pace since coming back, completely naive tactics; not changing things quickly enough when they clearly weren’t working.
