He’ll probably get more recognition if he gets called up for England. Not sure why he’s been ignored so far.

Because he doesn't play in England.

Very strange how fecking Mings gets picked ahead of him for England.

You should probably get Tomori's name right if you're going to made a thread about him.

I’ve always been a fan. Half hoped we were in for him when it was clear that he was leaving Chelsea at the time

I know Maguire is seen as one of the leaders of the England team, but Tomori should not only be in the squad, he should be starting next to Stones instead of Maguire. They've had polar opposite seasons. It would be huge mark against Southgate if Tomori continues to be ignored.

It is quite funny that Chelsea sold him last summer and will now go into the new season this year without Rudi, Christensen, Azpili and with a 38 year old Thiago Silva.

Tomori was kind of a done deal before the summer. Milan had the option to buy him after the loan and he didn't fancy coming back to be a rotational option. And we had Guehi coming through at the time. Then we sold Guehi too and we're now left in the clusterfeck of a situation you described.

Seriously man, this is so envious. You could just have had something like our CO92 and guess, the opportunity was missed.

Guehi, Timori,Christensen, James, Lamptey, Livremento, Mount, Abraham, CHO - that's 9 first team quality right there.

Could easily go with Tomori and Maguire as the pairing, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with a defence being led by Stones. As good as he is I never really see him come across as that defensive leader.

Tomori absolutely should be ahead of the likes of Mings/Coady, that is without question

Yeah, there's Gallagher and Broja to throw in there somewhere too, and watch out for Levi Colwill. He'll be talked about a lot next season.

It's absolutely an opportunity missed. Not enough patience I guess. I kind of have a bit of a (pipe) dream that Chelsea just say feck it and undo all the mistakes made in the last 2 years and just spend 200m on bringing back Tomori, Livramento, Guehi and yeah even Tammy.

Yeah that's not a bad shout. I didn't think of the personalities involved. I just looked at who had been in the best form this season, but yeah Tomori should definitely be in contention for starting places.

Speaking of Mings/Coady, I'd have Guehi over them two every single day of the week.

Fair play to Chelsea for producing all this talent lately. I suspect Levi Colwill will be better than both Guehi and Tomori. He'll be top class IMHO. Just under Reece James as their best youth product.

Tomori is kind of ideal next to Maguire. Serious pace, good anticipation and reading of the game, his only limit is that he's a bit undersized and lightweight, though he's quite strong for his size and decent in the air, there's a bit of Sergio Ramos to him. He also finished the season as the leader of that defence at his age, partnering a really undersized and lighweight kid who grew up as a fullback. Milan's defence was rock solid anyways

Livra, Guehi and Tammy they'll probably be an opportunity sometime but I think Tomori is a no go.

It will be easier to get players out of Paris than it will a competitive Milan.

Tbh I still think it will/can happen with the players we still have.

Mount and James are already established and I'm convinced CHO will hit the top level sooner rather than later (even this season he's in the top 10 in the league for overall chances created, 3rd on open play chances and 3rd on key passes) then there's Colwill, Broja and Gallagher to come.

Was it Tomori who scored an absolute screamer v Wolves a couple of seasons ago, under Lampard maybe?
Yeah that was him. It was voted Chelsea's goal of the season. Same game Tammy scored a hatrick in. In fact, we won 5-2 and all the goals were scored by the academy.

It's more of a pipe dream to be honest. I don't think we're bringing Livramento back as long as James is around. Tomori seems completely happy in Milan, don't think he would even want to come back. There's good chance Guehi could come back but he'll cost an arm and a leg, as I don't think there is a buyout clause there.

What I'm hoping for is for the new owners to think these mistakes were made by the previous ownership and it won't reflect badly on them to bring our players home.

Still beggars belief this guy can’t even get in the England squad.

I'm always oddly proud when a native English speaking footballer becomes fluent in another language. So many of the lads who went abroad previously never bothered- it just seems really respectful to the club and the culture of the country that you now inhabit.

That's down to Southgate
Indeeed. Southgate logic

Maguire (benched half the time), Dier (shit) and Walker (natively an RB) are in better form/are better picks than him. Still gets himself an OBE for services to sport, love it.

Yeah, when I first heard Kane talked on telly I was astonished. The lad was very respectful towards the cultures of the world and decided to speak in Mandarin.

TBF on Kyle Walker, he played the RCB like position for Pep in multiple occasion. Southgate even when it looks like back 4 on paper, is a pseudo back 3 in practice especially with possession. Look at the game vs France. Basically Sama took care of the whole right side, because Walker was asked to stay back to track potential Mbappe run. Rarely Walker didn't support Saka with overlapping run.

Southgate may cite Pep tactic as aspiration, but his England is too cumbersome with passing, movement to make this set up attacking minded. Lack creativity and fluidity. His England team ends up to be on the defensive side.

I’d need to hear more before deciding he was fluent. When he said “thanks everyone” when be received the award, the other players did a surprised laugh. Then his individual (possibly rehearsed?) speech after was something like “errr thanks errrr I am very happy errrrr thanks”

He gave an interview post last season all in Italian.

Always said this guy should be in the England starting 11. He's done so well in Italy and it's a reflection of the character that he's learnt the language. Fair play to him.

It's shocking but very Southgate that he doesn't get a look in, hopefully the next England manager will see that he's a fair better option than Maguire or Dier.
