Oshima would be my first choice, but don't think Napoli would sell him this summer as they just won the Serie A title and look ready to challenge for CL next season. They won't let him go easily anyway, it would take any club a fortune (say 150m+) to prise him away for sure.

The other options are Kane, Hojlund or Muani.

Apparantly Kane would be a quick fix type of ready made option as he guarantee goals in this league, and he seems determined to leave Spur this summer. However, with recent concern on our FFP, avg age of our core players, and previous concern of buying forward players in their 30s during the possible start of their decline, I prefer us to sign us someone who is younger where we could build for our future.

We simply can't afford to spend 50-70m on Kane this summer on big wage (say 350k+ wage), who might start his decline in ~2 years time, and then we have to hang on to him throughout his decline for very high salary, and at the same time spend another 70-100m to find another replacement. So why not we just spend the money on someone who is younger and look much promising instead?

Which means, my choice would be either Hojlund or Muani (or both if we have the money)

Zlatan if playing now would have a few Ballon Dors. He was unlucky his peak years were in the Messi/CR7 era. Guy was as monster.
He was a little overrated for me. Far worse player than Henry, for example.

20 year old Montpellier striker Wahi scored four goals against Lyon today. Takes his total in Ligue 1 to 17 goals. Can anyone share some details about him?

Basically everyone was.

There is a few forwards that where able to make teams tick in the final third the same way some midfieldes do deeper in the pitch. It is an underrated asset in my opinion.

Cantona was like that. I think Benzema has always been like that. And I think Zlatan was like that. Looking at both Cantona and Zlatan their teams usually won the league.

In my opinion Zlatan was not overrated, but he took poor advice from Raiola. Imagine what his legacy could have been if he had gone to the PL in 2012.

Not seen any links to Lois Openda. 19 goals this season. Any french football fans think he is good enough.

Marcus Thuram for short term to buy us more time. He’s available for free. I want us to play good football on more consistent basis next season by signing keeper and midfielders.

Milan bound maybe. They were heavily linked in the last week, so were Monaco. Although I read he said that he's no going to skip steps in his development, so maybe he's going to stay in France for another bit and go to Monaco.

Has had a few controversial moments already, allegedly assualted a woman and apparently had kids in school wank in front of him in changing rooms, so he might be one to avoid.

The man has a mean left foot.

Add to that he's fecking huge.

Judge him by the talent shown in the last 3 years, not the last 6 months.
If you're referring to Vlahovic, he's overrated based on the last several years too. Most obviously based on his final year and a half at Fiorentina, where literally 30% of his goals were penalties.

We cannot rely on him as main striker no way, fully expecting us to go all in for our top two targets. If we can't get either then see us signing a Kolo-Muani/Hojlund

I don't know much about him and never watch him so based from I heard he has good technique and work his shocks off. I only picked him because he's the cheapest we can go in this market for us to use our limited budget to build a proper balanced team that can play good football on consistent basis. My preference would be using Greenwood as the main striker but that would be controversy and might not even be realistic.

He is a decent player but his totals were vastly inflated due to pens. 19/20 he was a 0.4 non pen xg/90 player, 0.43 in 20/21, 0.37 for Fiorentina and 0.5 for Juve in 21/22, and then back down to 0.4 for Juve this season. That's just what he is.

For reference, that is in the realm of Michail Antonio, Mitrović, Havertz, Rodrigo at Leeds levels. Except most strikers usually have a drop off coming into the prem. Osimhen, comparing within Serie A, is at 0.87. Even Moise Kean at Juve... 0.73. Vlahović isn't good enough.

I'd get Toney while he's cheap and Thuram to cover the period he's banned.

Too harsh judgements on Vlahovic, he had nasty pubalgic problems in both Juve's seasons and playing as a forward for Allegri is a complete nightmare. Juve fans would gladly send that dinosaur to the moon.

I would really like Osimhen and Muani together, if we could seel a lot of players and afford them. What a forward line the them 2 and Rashford.

Yeah definitely not affordable in a million years when we have holes at GK,RB,CB (backup) DM (backup) & CM to fill as well

He looks very good, very quick but I think EtH usually likes a big physical forward and he's quite short.
very similar to rashfordI suppose. Agreed. He has gone with Haller and others in the past. Kane or Hojlund look most suited for ETH.

21 goal Contributions in 21 games. Anyone seen him? If we can't get Kane or Osimhen is he a decent option?
He actually looks a bit like Kane in style - under poch that is. I can't imagine we'd be too interested in dropping down that far from those two in terms of quality, if they are the top two targets.

Suarez also was like that, did an amazing job at Liverpool.

Honestly, he's decent at the moment but not a world beater by any stretch of the imagination, we'd be buying into potential more than anything else. I think he's in a similar place to Sesko currently, the attributes are there he just needs to play games to grow essentially.

Funnily enough his attributes are what you could consider to be similar to Kane, only more physical and faster, obviously he's nowhere near as accomplished as Kane in any facet of his game yet, but similarly to Kane he gets involved more in build up and brings team mates into goal scoring opportunities whilst also scoring goals himself, albeit he isn't that prolific yet.

At 20 he's got a lot of time on his side, and at 6'2 and decently strong already he'd suit the Premier League without a doubt, he's fast, he can dribble and he's a threat in the box. He's also a huge United fan and has 5 goals in 4 games for Denmark already. Again, we'd be paying, what, 40 odd mill probably for the potential, but if it paid off we could have a Harry Kane type forward only for much much longer. But if it didn't pay off we'd have wasted 40 odd mill and still need another striker.

Ideally i'd like us to sign someone like him along with a more experienced forward like Kane, but budget will only go so far and our timing couldn't be worse because options seem limited at the higher end market unless we are willing to blow virtually all our money on 1 signing.

Difficult situation to be in really, I just hope they make the correct call. Suffice to say though I would be happy to see us sign him this summer. He's the kind of player Brighton scouts would sign and then we wonder how they get such good astute signings before some big team snaps them up for double or triple what they paid.

The reason I asked is because I seem to be hearing his name more frequently and yet his goal numbers don't exactly suggest United should be interested. I agree that we need someone who has already demonstrated they can do it in England, which is why I think Kane will be the guy to beat.

Signing him will be for the purpose to develop him to be part of the rebuilding project. It’s not for purpose to be the finishing article. While he will develop his end product, his current technical attribute will be valuable to others as he’s the kind of striker that can bring others into play.

How much flexibility do you think we will have to sign developmental players who cost quite a bit of money at a time when our transfer budget is limited and we badly need a proper (expensive) striker ?

Yeah he's a little inconsistent, which isn't completely unheard of at his age. He's had a bit of a rise with 3 clubs in like 3 seasons and he's done things this season that have made people actually stand up and take notice now, especially on the international stage I guess. As you say, we're more in a position of needing someone like Osimhen or Kane that are already smashing it, but then that's gonna cost us between 100-150million on top of dealing with 2 of the most notoriously difficult people to deal with in transfer negotiations.

As I said our timing sucks, so what can we do? It might be that the likes of Ramus Hojlund is one of the better options we can take, based purely on potential and price, because I just cannot see us paying over 100mill for anyone.

A good goalscorer to be sure - but isn't he likely to be sidelined for quite a while with a ban?
Since he won't cost a bomb maybe then we can sign 2 CFs. He has a lot of long term potential but the ban situation isn't ideal

60m is cheaper than 100m. In term of flexibility it will give us an additional of 40m and potentially an additional 13m salary to strengthening other area.

You're suggesting we buy this guy as our main striker ? I thought you mentioned before he would be a developmental player (presumably instead of a proven commodity like Kane).
