I'll ask this yet again. What has Sabitzer done to convince you he's better than Fred? Or even McTominay to be quite honest. Absolute bang average player, 29, and we'd be paying £25m to sidegrade.
Second that @Red Indian Chief Torn Rubber. What are you seeing in this Sabitzer guy. He can’t get a game for Bayern, can’t get a game for us and when he does.. the impact is minimal.

Over a 30 game season he wouldn’t outperform Scott McTominay. Just let him go back we don’t need these additional problems in our squad. We already got rid of Lingard.

He would replace Eriksen in the team. We still need someone younger as understudy to Casemiro.

Bin McTominay, Donny, Fred, and Sabitzer.

They won't be that badly off though. They have a host of really competitive youngsters all coming through at the same time. Surprisingly.
Yeah sorry that's what I mean, Letting Rabiot go given the good crop of youngsters coming through in MF wouldn't be a bad thing given other areas of the pitch they need to invest in.

He seems very happy at Barca, would cost 90m and we can forget about him.
Agreed. My absolute dream signing but if it didn't happen last year it won't now. Far more pressing areas to be looking at for my liking too.

Didn’t even notice that. Probably the worst one apart from Sancho. Some of these potential fees for players leave me scratching my head.!
 yeah, I'm a Muppet at heart but some valuations do make me need a lie down.

There's no way on this planet Sancho will be sold this summer, people doing their Football Manager ins/outs are way off with that one.

I've followed his career long enough to know comfortably keeps and uses the ball better than both. He also isn't remotely average.

I could definitely see someone paying £30m-ish for Maguire or McTominay. Maguire's wages might be an issue, Scott's far less so.
The only teams paying £30m for defenders are top European clubs. With that said, which top team would Maguire start at?

EDIT: Look at this list of CB transfers from this season. list of CB transfers from this season. Why on earth would any team pay £30m for him?

A few midtable teams can afford it. Villa, West Ham and the like. Having said that, they probably wouldn't be able to with Maguire's wages.

Why would any team spend £30m on 30 years old centre back? £15m-£20m max imo. I just can’t see any value to pay £30m on 30 years old centre back.

I don’t think Maguire wages is an issue if he really wants to leave, he can lower his wages to the buyer club.

Yes, many PL teams that do not play with a high line can afford to buy him for 25m. Would he be willing to take a pay cut? It is unlikely that he keeps his England place if he does not play on a weekly basis.

I can see Harry going for 30m, McT for 20m and Sancho staying.

But someone else explained how selling Sancho at a lower value could appear as a loss on our books, I guess it's to do with the amortisation and his book value. I wonder how that applies to Harry.

I saw in another thread (the one about The Athletics report on our summer budget) someone mention £26m being the region of the book value left on Maguire. Obviously hard to know as we don't have access to all the figures, but would seem a decent ballpark shout.

On a free, it would be a no brainer. Is he better than sabitzer?

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

He's only shown it in the same league that Sancho was destroying. Some players can make that transition, others can't. Sabitzer so far is very much in the latter category. He hasn't had a single good game in our midfield yet, with his only two 'good-ish' games being when he played #10. Fred has been significantly better in the deeper roles so far.

I'm not completely writing him off as sometimes players do need a bit of time to get used to the English game (Fred himself was terrible for most of his first year), but during this loan he really hasn't shown any reason to sign him permanently.

Affording his fee is one thing, but what is the precedent for any midtable team paying £30m for 30-year-old unwanted CB? It's fantasy land and it would be a coup if United pulled that off.

He’s an unwanted CB for Manchester United. We aren’t Southampton. The reason for him not being good enough for us doesn’t mean he’s not the best player for a West Ham.

I’m sure you are aware of the level gap in football.

He's okay, not to mention physically looking more suited to PL than Sabi, Fred, Donny, Pogba, Herrera etc. Just need to keep away from injuries and could be even 1st option at some point.

We gained something positive from Erkisen's free deal despite it being just a short term thing. If he'll enter this team with solid package of young, energetic players with talent, then I can see it as something good brewing in the squad.

He’s had a really good season which suggests the fallen move fired him up. He’s been bang up for it over there. If he can bring this version of rabiot to us, it’s a very good signing on a free.
Yeah my thoughts too

I would certainly take him on a free. But it does worry me he will be our only CM signing.
Although a Qatar takeover and we could go for him and Rice.

As long as this is not our only midfield signing, then it makes a lot of sense. He's clearly a good player and will rotate well with Eriksen as they have complementary strengths. He's miles better than Sabitzer.
Yeah this is my concern too but this midfield definitely still lacks a technical playmaker but doesn't have to cost the earth

No chance we are signing 3 midfielders much as I would love that to happen and pursuing De Jong again is a complete waste
