We haven't offered anything according to Ornstein, we're yet to discuss anything with Chelsea but know Mount himself has indicated that Man Utd is his preferred destination.
You're crazy if you think we are getting him for less than 50m with how we do business and the apparent power ETH has over our transfer dealings.

Which is a fecking comical price for a player with a year left on his deal that doesn't offer anything of note at the positions we need

Would be up there with the weirdest post-Ferguson purchases we’ve made. He couldn’t be any less suitable for the profile we need if he tried.

Would be a total waste of money. When we have serious areas to sort, this aint one of them Mount aint a fix for us anyway.

Tbh if we’re briefing that £55m is what we’re prepared to offer, that sets the benchmark for the price, stupid negotiations by United as usual.

80m is a load of shit, he has 1 year left. He's not a world class player, he's not a CF. Anything over 40m is bad business and we would be better served waiting a year and getting him free.

Why is it crazy to suggest the club sign a player entering the final year of his contract and having indicated he wants to join for less than £50m? Also the selling club need to sell this summer after a kamikaze spending spree over the past two windows. What exactly is crazy about that.

Name one thing Mount does better than McTominay? Being w@nking fodder for Frank Lampard does not count by the way. I would put Mount on the same level as Donny and frankly I would rather we buy Garner back from Everton than pay actual money for this over rated show pony.

We haven't briefed anything infact none of the journalists who actually have direct line to United in terms of transfers have said a word about it .

I'll Wait for likes of Ducker , Whitwell , Stone to get on this story before panicking about the price .

Yeeeah, feels like a weird signing to be making, especially at the prices quoted.

Not a fan.

I think you need to calm down a bit. Mount is for sale and has been linked to United,Liverpool and Arsenal. Mctominay would be lucky to see a top half team

Some exaggerations in here about his quality. He was a very good player for Chelsea up until this season. He’s better than all our midfielders bar Casemiro and Bruno. Considering we’re probably letting McTominay and Fred go and Sabitzer back at Bayern. 50 million if it is that isn’t a bad move for a player who has delivered in the league before. Players like Caicedo and McAllister are being quoted at far higher prices so you have to be realistic about what we’re actually going to get for our money.
Also Scott Mctominay is not better than Mason Mount in any shape or form
what the hell are people saying?

I see the anti English mob are out in force again.

Mason Mount isn't a bad player at all. It's only the price that worries me with this one. I have seen enough of him at Chelsea to think he could definitely be a decent player for us. Not writing him off because of this season as Chelsea have been an absolute car crash.

Last few years he's been one of their best players.

I think a lot of you are probably freaked because you have spent the past couple of months slagging your Liverpool supporting mates in the WhatsApp for being interested in Mount and now you're getting the stick tonight.

McTominay has been linked to Newcastle who right now are above 2 of the 3 teams you have mentioned. Mount is essentially weirdly overrated for the same reasons as Lampard. He is Brexit British and Lamps loves him so he just has to be amazing right. He is actually a competent mid to lower league PL midfielder, nothing we should be going within a million miles of.

Sure I'd take him for 35m, but reports are that we are offering 55 and Chelsea want more than that.

So yeah 35m for Mount with some selling of other players is good business. 60m makes me want to throw up and wish we stripped ETH of all of the apparent power he has over transfers, because his talent evaluation sucks if he's this gung ho for Mount
If we pay 55m then murtough and fletcher should be the first out the door, should we be lucky enough to have new ownership.

People moaning about the incredibly high fee for a 24 year old on the last year of his contract are no doubt okay spunking 100 million on a 30 year old on the last year of his contract though.

Mount may not be the best player we could buy, but he's young, would count as homegrown, has qualities, and i'm sorry but he would be a bigger upgrade over DVB, Fred, Sabitzer etc so i'm all for it personally, I still think we would need another midfielder though
Yes because Harry Kane is a million times better a player never mind goalscorer. He's still got quite another few years left him at the top level if his game translates as well as Benzema and Lewandowski have to being 30+.

Thanks , it would be interesting to see how Ten hag utilises him in case he do end up at United .
Tuchel used him primarily as left sided forward mostly but he is often a glue between midfield and wingback and our other two forwards. Always available for pass nicely move the game with 1-2 pass and free up wingbacks and other two forwards. When wingbacks advanced he often attack the space in the box or him take advanced positions and our wbs attack the space in the box. He was excellent in that role.

Would be an upgrade on Donny Van de Beek.
Anyone would be an upgrade on DVB. Mount shouldn't be touch with a barge pole. I'm pretty disappointed he is even on the radar, if true first negative on ETH.

I'd guess like this:

Eriksen(Mount)---------Bruno(Mount)
-------------Casemiro(#8)--------------------

with Fred as the 6th man.

Mount is a decent player, but I don't love the fit here. Surely for 55M and huge wages we can try to sign the next Kovacic or Gundogan to balance our midfield properly.

He’s an underrated but overvalued player at the prices quoted. He’d be useful as he can play in the three positions behind the striker and he’s a better player than he’s made out on here. We can’t seriously bid 55 million though especially since he had a tricky season and only has a year left on his deal.

Anyone that mentions Brexit when discussing a British player shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
One thing is for certain, Mason Mount isn't going to improve us to the levels required. It just makes zero sense whatsoever and I'd love to know our thinking if true. Maddison is better and probably cheaper, we being beaten to players by Newcastle now?

The other issue is it's nowhere near a priority position. Are we about to witness even more stupidity this summer?

Not better than Sancho? Did I just read that right.
As a wide player he isn't. Mount can play on the left or right. Mount can cover a lot of positions in the squad but he wouldn't start for us in any position regularly in my opinion.

Seen him play loads of times but couldn’t tell you a thing about him. Weirdly funny that he’s rated by everyone but United fans though.
