Because of what you just said, there are multiple people in this forum calling City plastic, cheaters, oil money people. You don't want United to stand for something more than that? What's the point in winning a trophy if it's soulless like that
Don’t want to derail the thread but I don’t think United would become “plastic”. They are already huge. If Qatar were to clear the debt and provide equity funding for infrastructure, then a well run United could compete without fake sponsorship deals. To those who object that clearing the debt and funding stadium redevelopment is a form of cheating or at least artifiical, in United ‘s case I see it as moral recompense for being utterly shafted since 2005. In that alternative world, we would have no acquisition debt and could have afforded to regenerate infrastructure. Anyway, one for that other infamous thread….

Our subs to change the game were loanee from Burnley, young kid and a midfielder who can't play in midfield for Scotland.
They had on the bench;
Alvarez
Mahrez
Foden
Laporte

Ridiculous really.
Especially when Alvarez, Mahrez, Laporte and Foden would be first teamers in our side.

Gundogan 2 - United 1

Impossible to win when he scores 2 volley goals out of nothing in a FA cup final.
I feel cheated tbh.

That said, we once again show our weakness when playing from behind and infront of oponents goal. Nothing new.

Have a good summer.
May the transfer gods favor us!

I said it in the other thread, but the ratio of fans was batshit crazy. Honestly, I saw 3-5 City shirts for every United one. And here I thought that City has no fans.
Looks like our London fans have jumped ship.

We were absolute garbage. No urgency, no desire. Nothing. Extremely comfortable win for City. We lose the ball and just stand off it. Going forward absolute crap. We passed the ball backwards on a free kick in our own half!!!!! What's that about??

But yeah we played great.
What did you want us to do, run around like madmen only for the technically superior City players play fecking rondo around ours like orange cones?

It's quite annoying that Varane pocketed Haaland, AWB pocketed Grealish and Fred pocketed KDB...

But we still lost....

They’re just a better side.
Good try from Manchester United today, it isn't just they had the best side, they had a much better squad.

Once it got to the last 10 mins and United brought on Weghorst and then Mctominey (with Fred on the pitch still) I knew it was all over barring a miracle and no miracle came.

We tried our best. I can't fault the effort of our lads today honestly, they just have better players than us. Luke Shaw is probably the only player making their starting 11.

A lot of big deficiencies in this team still. But we stayed in it against an all-conquering (and cheating) side that smashed Madrid not long ago. Especially considering that outrageously good opener...always a near impossible task after that.

Brighter future ahead for us if we get rid of the Glazers.

Thought we did suprisingly well. The players gave everything. Sometimes you just don't have the luck.

Yeah, thought we did pretty well, but the lack of quality in areas was glaringly obvious.

If we had some of City's bench options in our first team, I believe we win that game. Alvarez striker and Mahrez right wing would take us to an entirely new level.

I wanted us to try and win the game mate. City were barely out of first gear. They didn't need to be. But ah well eh?

Our xG probably comes from 0.8 or 0.9 xG penalty and the Garnacho shot that was pretty close. I think, it would be a mistake to just look at xG for this game and come to the conclusion that we did well against City but were unlucky with our GK...

All of city's bench make our starting side or give the manager a selection headache. Our squad is full of duds and bloated beyond belief

Forgot to pocket Gundogan I guess. You can tell the gameplan was to stop those 3 and they did a great job, but everyone else not assigned to those three dropped the ball. I'm so disappointed in De Gea especially. I don't want to see him willing balls wide anymore. Try to stop them

It was, but we don't have options at the moment unfortunately. Hopefully we'll sort some of that in the summer.

DDG poor today… gave them way too much respect early when we shouldn’t have

if we had a proper striker, I believe we could’ve won this match. This summer is very crucial to get the right reinforcements.

Gutted we lost but glad we at least made a game of it rather than a 3 or 4nil battering like many were predicting.
If we had a competent goalkeeper who knows what would of happened

Well, I don't "just look at xG". I watched the game. City are obviously much better in their general play than us, but we knew that already. We made it a very close game, which is more than anyone expected before kick-off.

Blaming de gea for losing that is nonsense
Shame. We did well. De Gea the difference, negatively. Thanks for the 12 years but kindly, please leave.

Good season, lots to look forward to... Hope inter can stop the treble

This game just confirmed everything we should have already known about our players.

DDG - Good shot stopper terrible at everything else especially in high pressure moments
AWB - Excellent 1v1 defender but offensively and technically challenged
Varane - top defender but waning physically
Lindelof - Decent backup but soft
Shaw - top left back
Casemiro - Great DM
Eriksen - a liability against teams that take the game to us
Fred - energetic and hardworking but little quality
Sancho - An embarrassingly weak and timid player
Bruno - Good player but not top class. Not the type of player you build top teams around
Rashford - See Bruno

Nothing was a surprise here. All the players we want replaced proved it.

EtH set us up as well as he could we just don't have the players to compete with this City side.
Wow - that is so harsh after this game. Some people forget that this is a sport and someone loses and wins. We came up against a brilliant team and looked like we are not far off.

Did you really think we would batter them?

We pretty much matched the strongest side in Europe and lost to a shinned goal. Finer margin than anyone expected.

Casemiro starts over Rodri, and I think Varane and Rashford both find a spot. However, your overall point is correct.

Don’t worry. Give this team a gk would make us score and control the game.
I don't think people are just saying we need to just replace De Gea. Actually, have a look through most of the threads, and you'll quite clearly see that isn't the case. That being said, of course having a good ball playing keeping would help us control games. Did you see City's second choice keeper on the ball?

Don't get me wrong, I'd probably keep De Gea but we should be getting in a top ball [playing keeper, that will help with our build play in the first phase of play.

Uhhhh we lost by 1, conceded a soft as feck goal that he absolutely should have saved, and he kept punting the ball to their defenders all game. Who is it on? Finals are decided by fine margins. That margin was his horrible reaction for the 2nd goal, which a good goalkeeper should be saving.

Thought we did fantastically well considering we fielded the likes of Mctominay, Fred, Weghorst, Sancho etc... against the best team in the world right now.

It's hard to give a shit about the outcome of the match, when entitled multi-millionaires like Sancho or de Gea care even less

See you lads in September

Eriksen was terrible today. His form since coming back from injury has been woeful. He was second best to every ball.
