Probably a bit overpriced but not by so much that it matters much. Good to get him in before preseason

Does anyone know how we amortize the +5? I have been wondering about these add-on fees, especially as it looks like a large part of any incoming Henderson fee will be in add-ons.
I bet it’s if he wins like the golden boot or something  No it’s probably like a couple mil if we finish top 4, maybe a mil if we win a trophy.

The only issue that I have noticed with him is that when he is out of a game, he is competely out. Silent Domination type of out. That's my only worry, I don't know if it was his fault when it happened with England or Chelsea.
I think it can depend on the position you put him in. At Chelsea he was often part of the front 3 because we’re a club that for some reason is completely married to 3atb and yes the game can sometimes pass him by that you forget he’s playing but I wouldn’t say that is something that happens often.

The biggest criticism I can level at him is that he’s not one of those players that can look good in a bad team, so typically if the team is having a bad game, that impacts his game too, he’s not the guy you look to to drag you over the line.

Other than that, he’s a very reliable player who is tactically flexible, gets his fair share of goals and assists, does not shy away from big moments in games, works his socks off and is typically happy to sacrifice his own glory for the sake of the team. I also think a lot people will be pleasantly surprised by his technical ability.

Why exactly are people ignoring our HG quota ?

McT and Maguire is transfer listed. Who exactly is going to come and fill that void ? We don't have any youngsters capable to fill the squad either.

I am glad we signed someone, but this signing makes zero sense. We overpaid (again), it's debateable that he will be a starter, and I just don't think he will take us to the next level. I'll be delighted if I am proved wrong, but last season he was dreadful and he can't even make the England squad. We have some very dumb people negotiating deals.

Caicedo(he's not worth 70-80m) does not suit us well as he's as defensive as Casemiro. We struggled for goals and it's an attacking player we needed. Both Arsenal and Liverpool wanted Mount it's only that he chose United. Personally I'm stoked as he and Bruno will complement each other well and he's a natural hard worker..a lot like Bruno.

If this is someone the manager and scouting department are all agreed is a great fit for the role we have earmarked in our midfield then I just have to have belief in their judgment even if it wouldn't have been my choice, exciting to see if they can get the best out of him.

It's simple enough guys. He's simultaneously a crap signing who'll flop and won't make us any better and we are absolutely without question going to be successful enough to pay every penny of the add-ons to this deal.

Jesus Christ

The £125m they'd gotten from the Saudis, Arsenal and City before we turned up didn't cover it, but the £55m we're giving them suddenly does.
They needed to balance their books after their ridiculousness in the market over the past 12 months.

55 million is a very good price for an England starter who will improve us.

So dramatic.
Yes probably a little dramatic  BUT KJM was available and we let him go to Bayern, we are not even trying for Caicedo, Kane and Osimhen are unachievable and we’re haggling over a new keeper a few days before De Gea’s contract expires.

I thought the whole point of Champions league football was it gave us a big advantage in the transfer window? Not Mason Mount for £60m.

We've just funded their purchase of Caicedo, who is already a better player than Mount, who is a Lingard regen in my book.
fecking hell. This utter nonsense narrative still has legs?

And I bet your book would be hilarious.

Btw the £125m doesn’t actually help them for this year, as the Saudi’s are only allowed to do business officially from the 1st of July. So it’s only the money us and Arsenal have handed to them will save them from FFP.

I've changed my mind and think he'll fit very well in ten Hag's system. £60m with one year left might a bit on the steep side but it's good to get the deal done and get him training with the squad.

I don't think we will ever get the specific details (though maybe we will) but I would imagine this is probably spread over years, my guess would be about 20 mill to be paid now. I think one of the reasons we've gone for Mount is the ability to get him on a relatively good deal in terms of spreading the cost and not necessarily spending so much money upfront. There's absolutely no chance we've paid 55 mill upfront. There's money for a GK and Forward so long as we can get favourable deals on good terms in the sense of spreading the payments and not so much upfront
I think there’s probably money for a keeper but not a forward unless we sell a bunch of players

So you actually reckon that money is simply covering their books and they're getting Caicedo solely with this £55m we've given them then?

It's even worse than I thought!
Obviously not

I'm saying that there was a fire sale at Chelsea so they could balance their books before entering the market themselves. Is that really so difficult to wrap your head around?

CASEMIRO?! Shit off the ball? You ok mate?
Yes, when he's left alone.

Bruno is not a good midfielder off the ball, he runs around like a headless chicken but he's easily bypassed. I haven't seen Mount doing better. That leaves Casemiro to chase people and he can't do it alone.

Y'all will see when the football starts. Then quote me again.

There's a chance this goes down as one of our worst signings in many years. If Chelsea finish ahead of us next season it'll be incredibly embarrassing.
Absolute state of this. The only embarrassing thing is your post.

Mount has got the creativity and goals that Caicedo hasn't shown yet.

Don't get me wrong I've been very impressed with Caicedo, he's also been playing at right back and the midfield of Brighton still bossed the games, he wasn't key or integral rather it's the coaching and setup of the manager. I guess Brighton are confident they can cash in and maintain what they're doing. He'd be a great addition and prospect to many teams but we need lots more goals, a keeper and a striker before spending 100m on a midfielder.
