Seems a wierd one but there could be a few reasons for it:

1. Bayern are restricted on spending by FFP and need a no6 as we all know. Tuchel doesnt like the options he currently has.

2. As the Barcelona / juventus swap of a few years ago (arthur / pjanic), gave both teams more FFP headroom with inflated book prices. Same could happen in this scenario if its permanent transfers.

3. If its a season loan for both players, then gravenberch gets a season in PL, if he performs well his price goes up, which suits bayern. Likewise if McT performs well, his price goes up.

4. McTominay plays in central defence for scotland, as box midfields are all the rage tactically now and bayern dominate bundaseliga, could they play McT as a CB and get him to step out into a no6 role ala john stones?

Yes they have kimmich who can step in from rightback into midfield, but if he starts in midfield, you still need one of your 4 defenderz to step up to make the box midfield.

West Ham have quietly done some good business this summer.

Alvarez, Kudus, JWP. Not sure about Mavropanos.

But if they could add a couple more players like McT and Maguire that have a point to prove. They'll have a relatively healthy squad.

Even at that they might still need to find a striker to add to Ings and Antonio up top.

Not sure if the move makes sense. As soon as they figure out that he is not a no.6, they will bench him as he is clearly worse than Goretzka or Laimer as an 8. Which would only mean that his value would only decrease. Meanwhile a loan to a midtable EPL team would give him playing time and if eh does well we have a good chance to sell him for big money next summer.

Goretzka is practically a carbon copy of McTominay.
I think Goretzka is better on the ball. Better passer and shooter so if Bayern are interested in McTominay then it should be him we go for and not the guy whose only managed 6 starts in his time at Bayern.

If selling him + Hendo means we get Tobido + Amrabat/Graventhingy then it could be 2m for all i care.

Reckon someone will come in with 35m
West ham turned their nose up at above 30. Itl end up the same as Henderson now i think. We turn down a big amount one window, only to sell him for half as much in another window

He is on ~half as big wage as Henderson, is going to get some gametime and is regular international with >10k minutes in top club competitions. I would be really surprised if we had massive issues selling him for at least that in a year.

You might think that but theres no evidence for it. He literally does the same things for Bayern that McTominay does here and puts out the same stats.

I have been reading a bit on the biggest German Bayern forum and the supporters there do not rate Gravenberch at all.
Some are saying while the prospect of getting McTominay in does not fill them with excitement he can only be more useful than Gravenberch.

So we swap our 4th choice midfielder for another4th choice midfielder, who is also not a 6.

While McTominay to Bayern is a fun story and everything, we also need to sell this player, not loan him. I'm pretty sure Bayern have also been linked to more players than we have this summer. It's peak silly season.

Our fans criminally underrate our players.
That's just an understatement. Our fans actively go about telling everyone that our players are crap. And not worthy to even play in PL. And if any rumor starts about a half decent team wanting our player, we start doing tha ha ha hoo hoo on that news as well. The sheer number of our fans online means we start a trend on the internet.

Do you have quotes for that?

We get behind a team full of overpaid mediocrity a lot of the time.

Nobody wants to touch a keeper than was on 300k a week here not even for free. Our 80m defender‘s only real interest has been from West Ham telling you the level he’s at.

Fred played 50 games last season he’s now in Turkey after a 9m move. Nobody would touch Martial with barge pole and then we have 2 wingers (Sancho/Anthony) that cost us £160m and are a million miles off the level required at the top end of the PL

let’s look at the weekends bench:
Hernandez
McTominay
Sancho
Maguire
Henderson (finally going)

Thats 5 players out of 9 subs that are reportedly available to leave, nobody wants them and we’re relying on them to come into the first team it’s a mess.

If those reports are actually true, it would be weirder than seeing Choupo-Moting play for PSG and Bayern after flopping at Stoke.

We need to include sell on clause if the transfer becomes a permanent deal in case he turns out to.be Bellingham MK2
