Capable defence if they get midfield cover and if we play deep enough.

No excuse going forward as that is a strong front 6 and must be the front six eth played with the singings he has made

Standard desperation-low-block sort of defence that you get from managers when things start looking like end times.

Rashford, Casemiro and Bruno undroppable of course.
Given that Varane is injured, it’s literally the only defense we have.

“End times” - Good god you lot are miserable today.

    Totally different.
Varane has a string of minor injuries and Martinez had one more serious injury of which he's re-damaged now.
Re damaged coming back to soon in an effort to play no less. I don't think he's a concern at all. He should be fine once he is fully healed

If I was a dead man walking as manager I'd at least have some fun with it.

    Bayindir
    McTominay - Lindelof - Evans
    Antony - Hannibal - Amrabat - Dalot
    Mount - Hojlund - Garnacho

Pretty sure this team would blow Brentford away at OT.
Genuinely impressive how you've managed to put together a team worse then today's line up.

Just mentally preparing for yet another crap performance where they just waltz through our midfield. Will never get easy

And hopefully his less than impressive form was simply due to having this niggling in the background.
Need to get him 100% right this time to say the least.

Are we assuming this is still a 4231? It could be a 352?

    ................................Lindelof/Maguire/Evans

    Dalot...........................................................................Amrabat

    .................................Casemiro..................Mount

    ..................................................Bruno

    ...............................Højlund.......................Rashford

As much as I distrust 352, that would actually look more reassuring than a Maguire/Evans partnership, and with Lindelof on RB.

The ambition of this club was on the wall as soon as we signed a soon to be 36 year old centre back who wasn't good enough for relegated Leicester.

A circus of a club from top to bottom.

He is trying to shoehorn Mount into the side, isn't he..

Case alone deep doesnt work. Can't drop Bruno.. Need Amrabat alongisde Casemiro..

I miss the days of Mata on the right wing.. I wanted to go from that to a proper winger and now we have our best attacking midfielder stuck there because ETH is stupid.
This has happened for years, right back to Veron being shoehorned in to the side when they should've built the team around him.

Possibly, but would feel dangerous switching the system as well as the playing cast.

Unlike another poster, I'm hoping Lindelof is right back, where he'll have played before, and Dalot on the left again where he has played before.
Lindeof left back just feels too risky.

Last match was easily our best football of the season. We lost due to a goalkeeper error and an almost entirely makeshift back 4.

Does it suck? Yes. Do I start getting on the manager’s back because he has to play a makeshift back line and is getting a bunch of new players up-front to gel? No.

Just pathetic short term thinking around here.

Bruno on the right again, what does ETH see!

Not sure should I watch this or mow the wet grass out the back.

It's literally the only 4 defenders we have available.

It's not good. But it's arguably our first choice front 6. :(
Exactly so there's no really a excuse aside poor tactical approach in regards to a poor result. The narrative I keep hearing is that injuries will change the course of the season but the performances of key players suggests otherwise. It's a long ride this season.

Yes of course we should be worried, but under the circumstances a back 3 is sensible. Against this opponent it should work well enough. I’m going with a 2-0 today now.

Hope it is a deep 2 in midfield to provide some protection and fascinated to see how it works, would assume Amrabat would sit and Cas push on a bit.

Agreed, it’s not an excuse that we’re missing some defenders so we can’t beat Brentford at home. I reckon we’ll get a performance today.

That shouldn't happen now we have Amrabat and Casemiro together. I mean we can't afford it to happen because if they get through they just have an old age pensioner and a fridge to get past.

Veron shouldn't have been signed in the first place and I rated him.

Vieira was SAF first option for more midfield depth but that was never going to happen.
