Szoboszlai has been good for them. Gravenberch has been hailed as a talent at Ajax. Bayern sold him for whatever reason. Hasn't hit the ground running. Endo is shit.
what happened to Thiago, is he still a thing

My guess is that Evans probably gets better protection on the right from Dalot in compromising positions than Luke Shaw right now, due to fitness.
Dalot and 'better protection' in the same sentence must be a first.

Imagine sucking all the talent out of Steven Gerrard and that’s what McTominay is to us.

Both are high energy and good midfielders but neither are pure defensive midfielders. Amrabat you could make a case for but Mainoo being a DM is a complete misnomer.

What both hopefully do bring is some high octane disruption in the middle and an ability to counter.
I know they aren't DMs but I also hope they hold their positions and keep it tight in fron of the back 4

Decent Liverpool team but a team that should not frighten anyone and if they were playing anyone but us no one would be talking about them trashing the opposition..

But it is a sign of the lack of respect these United players have ,from most commentators and fans that people are talking about possible 4, 5.6 nill hammerings.

If they can't step up today then it is never going to happen for them.

Last year, we had the "Nunez and Gakpo are shit" threads in full swing in the first half before things went awry. Hope no one starts an "Endo is shit" thread before the game is over. :nervous:

Based off absolutely nothing, I think we'll play well and be leading late into the game. We might concede a late equaliser or grab another to secure the win, but I don't know, feel strangely optimistic....for now.

And you’d give either of them the captaincy over McTominay?
No. That's not what you asked. Captaincy isn't all about passion. It's about leading by example. Something Mctomminay can't do because he's dogshit in 90% of the things he does. I'd personally have given it to Varane with this lineup but Ten Hag is hard for Scotty.

My blood is boiling at how confident Carragher & co are but this team is so bad that they know that they can say anything & get away with it. Hate football so much
And let’s call it that’s not a great Liverpool team . The problem is Liverpool will be up for the game and we won’t give a feck and give them the game

That's a brutal midfield. And the worst thing about it is that it's the best we can do at this time. Same goes for Johnny Evans. Starting against Liverpool at Anfield in 2023. But there's no one else.

Team sort of picks itself. He's went with what I expected from what's available.
Was just about to post the same. Outside of Dalot/AWB and Garnacho/Rashford, I don't see much in the way of choice.

I'm not truly optimistic about today, but I hope we put in a defensive shift and get a late smash'n'grab.

One thing I don't understand about the past 10 years results against Liverpool is that when they were shit and we were top, they were almost never walk overs...
In the 80s when they were top and we were average, we competed well. The past decade we've rolled over so many times and it's ridiculous.

Same here. Regardless of all the doom, the minutes before kickoff are always full of hope.

Completely agree, Liverpool haven't really been playing amazingly and destroying teams, it's because our players have earned such a lack of respect by giving up as soon as someone scores against them

Is it just me or does that Liverpool line up look bang average. I mean, we are poor and not confident, bt surprised how confident Liverpool side seem and how .
negative our side are. This is not going to be a trouncing that is for sure
That midfield really isn't all that.

At least we have 2 wingers who will track back. Rashford won’t be the reason if we don’t win this.

The list of players injured or other wise missing is insane.

    Casamiro
    Erikson
    Martinez
    Sancho
    Mount
    Lindelof
    Martial
    Maguire
    Malacia
    Bruno
    Ahmed
    Greenwood.
I’m not sure what’s worse your spelling or the state of the list .

Such a bizarre attitude. If you believe they're good enough to be starting for us, why wouldn't you want them to be starting this game? Matches like this show you how good a player actually is. I'm not sure why you'd want to protect anyone from such an occasion. Personally, I've had enough of bright young talents who impress in a league cup match against League One teams but crumble when we really need them to shine. So let's see if they are good enough.
Because I have 0 remaining faith in this manager and how he sets the team up in these games. Hope I'm proven wrong. But I'm fully expecting a 4-0 type game where all the cnuts come out on social media, and a game impossible for our young guys to do anything in.

Ten hag can't fecking win I swear. Play the old players and it's the shit same mentality and no new fire. Play new players and it's not fair
I'm not criticizing Ten Hag for what it's worth on the decision, he's picking what he feels is the best lineup and he's not wrong on it! My brain is just in damage limitation mode and protect the assets for future people

Well Nunez is still shit. Us making them look like world class players last season doesn't mean they are actually world class. Bet on us making Endo look world class though.

There is a reason alot of people expect a hammering (4+) because it happened way too many times that it became the norm now so we can say with confidence they won't step up,that is the expectation here, the shock is if they can limit it to 2 nil or 1 nil, and a draw is actually a pipe dream and winning is naturally impossible for these players

But as a fan.. it's Come On United let's go

I’d give you Garnacho showing passion but I’ve not seen much from Antony. He’s been dogshit this season. Shown nothing in my opinion.

I suspect not giving it to Varane is because he’s bound to get injured this game and at least McT is some sort of constant.

I guess we’ll just agree to disagree on the appointment.

Today is going to be fecking awful regardless.

Hopefully the pressure on Liverpool to score a bunch forces unforced errors in defence. A hurried pass from VVD or a miskick from Allison is all it would take at this level.

Not gonna lie, I thought he left this summer, what happened to him? Was he injured?
He really turned in to the invisible man. I have no idea and I feel sorry for him. Don’t think his career turned out the way he wanted.
