People moaning about the price of Hojlund, go look at the deals for Nunez, Ramos, Muani, Vlahovic, Endrick, Isak etc.

Young strikers cost a lot of money.

I don't think ETH is a poor manager, but maybe he is just not good enough to get a tune out of this bunch of players.

Other managers have tried and failed with most of this squad too.

I do not think many managers would succeed with this bunch because they have proven many times they are unable to raise their game to a certain level to win constantly.

Our whole defence is beyond shocking, the way they fall apart under any pressure is insane , its like amateur hour most of the time.

If ETH got a whole new defence, one decent midfielder and a striker, then I would be quite happy to give him another season.

But to be honest, he looked like a broken man after the last game.
He’s not being asked to succeed with this bunch though. Many fans have been cucked to a point they’d have been happy with 5th.

This squad is not title winning however game by game even if you take into account our absences we are generally better resources than our opponents.

Go through a few team sheets for our games this year & you’ll see multiple instances where the opposition have has just as many absences or just as important ones.

I refuse to believe theirs is not another manager, not named Pep or Jurgen, that couldn’t have guided this squad to 4th or 5th comfortably this year.

The job of management is like a constant interview. No manager has their ideal squad 18 months into their tenure, they have to make do at points & coach their squads up. EtH’s set up is giving us the worst of multiple players, Bruno is a 10 - either play him there or sell him & so on.

What gives you this impression? When there's clearly stories brewing about potential replacements?

The fact that he's proving week after week that he's completely incompetent. Churning out one utterly unacceptable performance after another, and is still in a job, when any club with ambition would have got the situation under control a while ago.

Martinez and Mount have effectively been injured all season. Hojlund was a project signing that the club and he synced on, knowing the benefits are reaped longer term than for immediate impact.

Also money spent isn't an indictment on our coach. We wasted money chronically well before ten hag came in.

Park the name calling mate, come back when you have an actual point.

You wouldn't know an actual point it slapped you round the face. Just like the manager you continue to defend, you’re clueless.

The only thing worse than anything, are the people who refuse to accept different opinions and points of view.
Can't wait for us to win the FA cup and the likes you piss off out of redcafe for a few weeks. Until our next bad game anyway.

With Erik still in charge, you wouldn’t have to wait long.

I'm not currently defending Ten Hag, read posts better. He's set us out poorly, he's not tweaked and he's lost control in too many games.
That doesn't change the fact that he had big signings unavailable this season and one signed for the future rather than for immediate impact.

Now, come back when you actually have a point with legs.

‘He's set us out poorly, he's not tweaked and he's lost control in too many games’

You’ve just made my points for me. Well done for admitting he’s doing a terrible job.

Hes having a bad season. He also had a good season last year. For me the jury is out. I would not see much of an issue of relieving him for a manager with more pedigree if he were available (which there isn't).

Also, don't try and put words in my mouth.

It is a myth that we have bought poorly when most of the transfers we have made under ETH have been either free transfers or loans.

Define most?

Signed for fees - Martinez, Malacia, Casemiro, Mount, Antony, Hojlund, Onana, Bayindir

Free/Loan - Eriksen, Sabitzer, Weighorst, Amrabat

Anyone I'm forgetting?

Butland, Reguilon, Evans, Dubravka

Right so even if for some strange reason we include two 2nd/3rd choice keepers who played a grand total of 2 games between them. It's still 50/50 between players signed for fees and free/loans.

Again define most?

Most of our signings are loans or cheap punts.

Wasting your time lad.

What your up against defined disingenuous.

They support managers not football clubs.

Can someone explain the idea behind our front four pressing high while the rest of the team stays back? It’s been happening all season and effectively nullifies our pressing while tiring the attackers and leaving enormous gaps in between the lines. It’s suicidal and I can’t see any possible benefit to it.

If he wins FA(big if), he probably will still stay. Depend on candidates.
As bad as we currently are, I don't think Ineos can risk another fail appointment.
I've seen this said a few times. LVG got sacked after winning the FA Cup. Ten Hag's future will have been determined before that final would be played, imo.

It isn't a big enough trophy to keep someone in a job here. Great supplement in a solid campaign where we at least qualify for the CL, but relatively nothing without it.

A point that I agree with you on (as I mentioned the sustainability of performance).

Long term this isn’t how we will play so right now we’re fighting for results.
We have been playing like this for almost 2 years under EtH. How long are we supposed to wait before he suddenly starts coaching and decides to put some people in midfield? Or when we are supposed to say ‘hmm, maybe this is EtH’s style after all, and he actually turned out to be crap’?

As someone who wanted EtH to get the job, I thought it was obvious last season that he is not that great manager and won’t win anything significant (EPL and UCL) for us while Caf was putting him in pedestal. Winning a 3rd tier trophy without playing anyone good except Newcastle was hardly something to sing songs about. But never in my worst dreams thought that he would make Rangnick and Ole look competent in comparison.

Anyway, as things are going, we will have the same exact debate in 12 months.

I can't remember the last time I've seen a team with this amount of shit players at a big club.

Genuinely the best option is still alot of players out and alot of players coming in.

We have to hope the new decision makers are better at selling shit players and better at buying good ones.

We can't start next season with Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw, Malacia, McTominay, Eriksen, Antony, Sancho or Rashford as starters.

They should be replaced with 6 or 7 new signings. This is genuinely the least we could do that would allow us to move forward.

Out of that group you wrote down, only Shaw and Rashford are starters when everyone is fit?

I have lost patience with him now. His game management is awful.

As long as we don’t end up with that waistcoat wearing, Ready Salted crisps eating, bangers and mash, missionary love making, 4-4-2 playing, national anthem listening, well done steak eating, Earl Grey tea drinking, Eastenders watching, Saturday night takeaway, Werther’s Original sucking cornflake tart then I’ll be happy.

Surely there is something that could squash any hopes of this ever happening. This is the one thing that worries me about England winning Euros, would only increase INEOS belief he could manage this club.

England aren't winning the Euros, Southgate will be the reason behind that, he's far too pragmatic.

It’ll stay this way. Once in a while players will put in immense shift, they will be flying for 90 minutes, and then we will revert back to normal. We fluke too many wins/draws for him to get fired though.

Sadly they only turn up when it's a bigger game but like you say means he always avoid the sack

Maybe Luke Shaw? How can you say maybe? Luke Shaw or AWB as a left back. That isnt a maybe, that is a massive difference. A 90 minute and match fit Martinez makes a huge difference. Casemiro might not have been great this season but when he is fully fit and plays the results are usually better.

That Brentford game was horrible. Even with the injuries but the injuries do matter. Some on here will just pretend that the injuries arent having any effect at all. They make a big difference but you can argue about how much of a difference they make or should make. Pretending that there arent any injuries and that those injuries have no effect at all is just unfair though.
Did you quietly ignore the part of my post where Brentford had a number of injuries themselves and completely dominated us without us barely troubling them? Why is it an acceptable excuse for us when it affects other teams as well?

He'll win us another trophy and stay on. There aren't any good ones available either besides maybe Mancini

How on earth are we beating City, well that's even if we actually can get past Coventry. Wouldn't trust Erik or the managers to raise themselves for that game

I have never been a fan of ETH and did not want him to come to the club in the first place. But it seem strange to me that so many fans believed in him after last season, but now have lost faith in him because this season has been so poor.

It is clear that a number of things have happened which have ruined this season compared to last season, when we were better, and ETH can not be blamed for most of them:

1) Casemiro and Eriksen were a big reason (and main reason) for our better season last season. But this season, Casemiro seems to have lost some of his world class level, which was actually predictably very early in the season.

Regarding Eriksen, it is my belief that Andy Caroll put an end to his career at this level with the disgusting tackle last season.

The result is: We are missing the central midfield that was the key to success last season. Mainoo has come along, but is very young and cannot be expected to carry the responsibility alone.

2) Martinez was very important last season. He provided a stability in defense that we hadn't seen in many seasons. But injuries have ruined this season for him and we actually have constant injuries amongst our many central centre-backs.

3) Rashford was fantastic last season scoring 30 goals!! We lack those goals this year. Who in our team can score 30 goals when Rashford experiences such a dip in form?

I lost faith last March as have said numerous times

I would stick with him until there is a decent replacement available. But he does deserve to go. We’ve served up shit on a stick this season.

For me the biggest indictment for him is the way Emery & Ange have got their teams to perform. They have had less times with their teams and I do not believe that they have massively better players and yet they are well ahead of us playing good football and having scored 20+ goals more than us. We will end this season with around 50 goals scored which is completely unacceptable

That's exactly why I don't buy into this way of thinking a new manager wouldn't change things, also don't understand when people say there are a lack of alternatives. What is so bad about any of Nagelsmann,Inzaghi,Amorim (scousers want him after all) Tuchel,Enrique De Zerbi or Flick

There are certain things that just make no sense at all.

We've got three midfielders - Casemiro, Eriksen, and Amrabat - neither of whom he really wants to play because they are too slow for the erratic, transitional system he has us set up for.

But he decided to sell Fred, who has the best workrate of any midfielder we had. Also, Sabitzer was better off the ball than any of the other midfielders who make up a low intensity midfield. There's just no potential for winning back the ball and that's a huge part of the reason why we concede so many chances this season and why we're so easy to play against.

He's got to sign at least two players who are capable of winning duels either in midfield and defence. I've honestly not seen a United side get bullied as much as this one.
