No need to sugar coat. Most of the players are struggling/regressing, call it what you like. The manager need to make use of and improve the existing players.
 
I don't think that we are losing because of the manager and playing 3 at the back and wing backs.

We are losing because we make stupid decisions. I mentioned before that I think we should have an idiot of the match thread and was making my own mental one during the match.

Yoro set off to an early lead making a completely unnecessary foul after just a few minutes when the Wolves player was just 10 yards inside our half and we had 5 or 6 defenders positioned. Basically nothing particularly dangerous looked like being on but he gets a yellow card so he can spend the next 80+ minutes teetering on red.

Then as soon as the second half start Bruno decides to take the prize for himself by picking up a clear and obvious yellow for no apparent reason and condemning us to 45+ minutes of 10 v 11.

To make sure we lose the goalkeeper lets a goal in from a corner. Quite a rare event. Unless you are Manchester United. The goalkeeper and the coaching squad deserve an honorable mention for this, but the prize today is well a truly earned by Bruno.

To compound our constant moments of stupidity that happen in almost every game, this results in us losing games that we shouldn't, that seems to have lead to a huge drop in confidence for some of the players with the resultant drop in form which we means we are gradually getting worse.

We can do a direct comparison tonight. Both have pretty new managers. One manager has managed to get his team to perform well and the other simply hasn’t.

We have objectively better players available (based on previous perfomarances, international performances and reputation) in every position with the exception of Cunha and maybe Ait-Nouri. Oh, and Sà of course.

So it’s getting difficult to remain positive about the manager sadly.

I really did, despite the results, feel reasonably positive about Amorim up until today. As I could at least see the seeds of a style of play and some positive spells in each game. But now we’ve played a team that is by any comparison, worse than we are, and lost, it’s gone for me.

Maybe it’s just post game misery. Some credit given Bruno’s shocker is not the managers fault. But I can’t get away from the fact that Wolves new manager has managed more in 2 games than ours has in 10.

We looked better under Ruud.

Very concerning. Ugarte missing in the next game too, Mainoo out of form, Casemiro/Eriksen rarely getting games.

He has some issues which are player related and some which are coaching related.

Player related:
- We don't have a striker in the squad who can consistently hold the ball up, so a lot of progression is lost due to the striker losing the ball
- We don't have an actual midfielder who can play next to Ugarter. Neither Kobbie nor Eriksen have the engine, Casemiro can't really progress the ball and Bruno doesn't really have the discipline to play the role. So there is either a lack of progression if Eriksen doesnt play or a lack of energy if he does
- The wingbacks are effectively impotent so no penetration from them
- There is no real pace from our starting cam options and the two players with pace don't have the technical ability to play the position
- We effectively have zero confidence in any of our keepers. Part of the reason we concede from corners is our keepers are not physically dominant in any capacity.

Amorim Related:
- he needs to swap the fullbacks around. Dalot has much more of an engine and would provide more than Mazraoui on the right. We aren't doing much on the left so can stick Mazraoui there.
- He should switch Mainoo and Bruno around. Its not ideal but I think it would suit both better.
- Needs to get at least one CB pushing forward allowing a CM to join in with our attacks. Too often we have 3 CBs back, both CMs sitting, Amad with ball, Mazraoui not underlapping, Rasmus battling with CBs and absolutely no one for Amad to link up with.

Amorim has a tough job ahead. I think people are being optimistic if they think that a manager who potentially losses 5 or 6 in a row, in the bottom half of the table wouldn't be under threat under a Ratcliffe regime.

Would not be surprised at all if he’s not here come the start of next season. Either because he walks or Sir Jim gets itchy fingers.

He just looks like a broken man already. That initial enthusiasm has been completely wiped from his face. This clubs ability to break everyone who walks through the door is incredible.

Starting to think he's talked the players into that negative spiral. Before he said that there looked to good play and progression, players looking to help each other and carry out his instructions and some belief back.

Reminds me of Rangnick being pretty scathing and players not liking it and they're getting angry on the pitch, we've gone from positive to a negative wreck.

Hopefully Amorim can build them back better, they're on the floor again now and probably little room for selling and buying players.

Ruud only tweaked ten hags system. Amorim us trying to change the system to enable us to control games in a way that we haven't been able to do since fergie left

so did wolves. in the last 6 days. theyve won 2 and conceded 0. I get that its a factor, but we're 11 games in and looking worse than the first 3 games under amorim. This excuse wont carry water for much longer.

I think people are overlooking your point about INEOS' track record.

Forget what's been briefed to the media: Nowhere in football has INEOS demonstrated commitment to any kind of long term project if short term results have turned to cak, which they have.

Sir Jim will happily fire everyone up to and including Omar Berrada if he thinks they're to blame for our season going belly up. Amorim isn't safe and neither are the people who recommend him.

If we finish 16th or 17th there's not going to be much patience shown.
 
This january window we need at the minimum a top class striker and very good left wing back. In the summer i would go for a 10 and a MF. If Maguire goes then a defender. I would also try and do our best to get some really good goaly that flies under the radar.
 
The lack of wingbacks is killing us.

For as good as Amad has been as a 10, we progressed the ball a lot better when he was played as a wingback.

We are just so narrow in wide areas, with two players who can't progress the ball and Dalot unable to use his left foot.

When you mix that with two CMs who struggle to play forwards, it's not ideal for any type of chance creation or quick build up play.
 
Walk away pal whilst you still have good stock. This club will destroy him and he seems like a really likeable guy. It’s getting in top of him already - you can see it in his face. Rashford and Fernandes have fecked another and muppets still chant their names.

If the coach of the United first team has to fix the basics, something has gone terribly wrong. Amorim has essentially said as much a couple weeks ago.
 
This ain’t going to get better before Feb. He has games every week until then. There is a break from Feb 2 to Feb 16. Nice two week long break but he needs to make it till then.

Agree with a lot of what has been said here. And yeah he can't keep losing these games and not be under pressure. Just because he has preached patience and that it'll take time to be good, it doesn't mean that you can just keep dropping points every game, already up to 4 PL losses.

Sums up my feelings too.

Shades of early LvG for me too, we try and control the game and in parts it looks ok, but we dont get enough bodies forward and the ball forward quickly enough.
 
Under Amorim United have conceded from set-pieces against Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Spurs, Bournemouth and Wolves.
 
He took over a side that was showing signs of improvement, imposed an unusual system on it, and hey presto we're fighting relegation.

Change ought to be gradual.

The failures from set pieces are a direct indictment of training ground routines and coaching failures. You cannot be so bad at it in professional football.

This, teams with worst squads and also new managers are faring better. Hence the excuse does not hold water any longer. You cannot keep trying to implement a new system without the necessary personnel, its too naïve to think it will work.

RVN closed up shot with Casemiro and Ugarte, he maybe didn't think that was the combination he'd like to pick overall but he knew he had to strengthen the midfield in order to get results.

At the moment we are just being exposed over and over again because the wing backs can't attack and the Cb's aren't quick enough to cover the lack of full backs.

It's a fecking shit show and he needs to loosen up and change something soon otherwise Big Jim will wield his axe regardless of the project.

Agreed. This control of games results in very few chances created. Amorim has no idea how to change this. And then we give away goals in every single game.

Bang on and humorously sums up the incredibly large impact that individual idiocy is having on everything.

How can you legislate for keepers letting in corners twice in a week? I do not care if they never are coached at this club, their foundational skill and instinct alone should prevent that. But not at United where idiocy reigns supreme.
 
Probably the worse start of any Utd manager I can think of, but I fully support him.

The rot is set so deep it’ll take Ruben at least 3 windows.
 
I was very skeptical when we signed him, and I am afraid that he is going to be our worst manager yet. I just do not think he is ready for a club like United yet.
