Midfield overrun as usual, pretty much like Ten Hag's was, that was another horrible watch sadly
People need to stop giving Amorim a free pass. While he’s undoubtedly a talented coach who knows his stuff, talent alone isn’t enough—it never has been. His job is to sell a vision to the players and inspire them to fight for it, and right now, that’s not happening. Forget systems and tactics for a moment—the fundamentals are about players looking motivated and having a clear sense of purpose. Right now, there’s no evidence that anything meaningful is being built with this team. Amorim needs to step up and show more—this isn’t good enough.
The squad is poor. But we don't have money to fix it. So where does this go
Racing cars last time I heard.
As for Amorim - looked like a 39 year old completely out of his depth ever since he got here. A lot of fans being positive for the sake of it at first but more and more are starting to see the situation for what it is now.
ETH’s damage is so big and Ruben needs time to find the way to fix them. At least we now see the team has the right mindset, not perfect but a huge improvement than under ETH.I'm not advocating near moving on from him, but he needs to know that you cant play 5 at the back at OT and have zero urgency. And yet we keep doing it.
I saw a couple times where a forward pass was on and he pointed toward the defenders to start again - I just dont get it. It's part on players if they're scared to play forward but he's definitely telling them something too.
We need to be smart and spend every penny wisely, finding bargains and hidden gems along the way. No more £70m+ signings for a whileThe squad is poor. But we don't have money to fix it. So where does this go
It’s also the philosophy of how we want to play. Amorim said we’ve been a team that plays on the counter for years and are happier being the underdogs. That mentality was set by the likes of Jose, Ole and EtH, who we all fecking wanted to change the style but just ended up saying “we want to be the best transition team in the world”This is the problem when we chop and change managers and they all play a different style and formation, the whole point of the footballing structure was to decide on a United formation and way of playing then the head coach just coach but we’ve gone from 4-2-3-1 under Ole to 4-1-4-1 under ETH to 3-4-3 with Amorim with zero input from our ‘best in class’ ‘footballing structure’
Yeah, as expected
I’d be shocked if there was even single Utd fan who hasn’t at least had a bit of doubt in the back of their headIs it safe to start questioning the manager without getting shamed on here or do we need to have a bit more patience?
Totally agree , Amorim is rapidly turning into our Villa Boas, time to give him an ultimatum; get 8/9 points minimum from next 5 PL games or he can go and we go get Iraola from bournemouth before Spurs do, we need a PL proven coach.I get sick and tired of people making excuses for managers. He's come to Utd because he's been tasked with the job of coaching these players to get results, simple as that. Whilst this might not be a great Manchester Untied team, there are still many internationals on the pitch who look a lot better for their country than they do at Utd. How is that, how are these players still good enough for their coubtry but at the same time everyone is saying the players are all terrible?
A managers job is to get the best out of the players, to set them up with the best chance of getting a result. Right now it looks from an outsider than Amorim is a rookie coach, still trying to grasp what the PL is about, whilst simultaneously trying to implement a formation that the players are obviously not trusting.
We've been here too many times before where the manager is too stubborn and thinks todays the day things turn around, but they never ever do. If we're waiting until he gets his perfect squad, we'll wait an enternity because it isn't happening. So we must get someone in who knows the PL, is proven at a big club and go again.
Realistically none of us should be convinced that he’s “the one” until he shows us. It’s early days but it’s clear that not every decision he’s made has panned out. The back 5 with two fullbacks is shocking and we knew that last year. It’s up to him to get players like Garnacho involved in the wide areas, we can’t keep breaking away nicely only to have Dalot as our option on the wing.Is it safe to start questioning the manager without getting shamed on here or do we need to have a bit more patience?
I lose a bit of belief in Amorim every time he selects Onana and Antony. I know that he’s inherited the worst United squad in the premier league era, but no one is forcing him to select players who are so clearly not at our level. And by “our level” I’m referring to a bottom of the table premiership side, battling to keep ahead of relegation pace.
I agree there were more exciting attacking moments in games under Ten Hag, however these aren't Amorim's players, whereas Ten Hag didn't have any excuse for the awful performances.Honestly, we played better football under ETH - and that’s saying something.
You make a good point. I mean look at our current squad. Our best player is someone we signed as a youngster who was identified as up and coming and who we loaned out to play in the Championship initially. Need to identify and recruit up and coming talent on the cusp of being good/great.Very difficult question to answer that one.
In my opinion, we are going to have to try and get our recruitment to a level like Dortmund or Brighton etc.
Identify and sign players who are going to get big. But then when they do we wont be under pressure to sell them like a feeder club. We’ll have to suffer a bit in terms of expectation while they develop.
I mean, off the top of my head, we sniffed around Haaland, Caicedo and Bellingham when they were at Molde, Independiente and Birmingham. We didnt get them but it is the right approach. You see this lad Nypan about to go to Arsenal, we should be after him.
We’ve tried a decade of signing a handful of 40-80m players at a rate that it takes a manager 2or3 years to build a first 11. And then you get flops and it has financially ruined the club.
If we carry on that road we aren't ever getting out of what we have become. Amorim will be replaced by someone else who will be replaced by someone else whilst we stand still/go backwards
He has explained this a million times. We either start playing it now with the players we have, so that we can figure out which ones can play the system and which one's can't. Or we wait till the summer, wasting an entire half a season where we could have been training for a specific tactic and finding out more about these players.

We’re paying for the recent history of bad transfers and the club direction over the years.
Stop brushing this on ETH. He has players capable of not being slapped up by Brighton, Bournemouth, Forrest, Wolves, Newcastle all at home and to not need individual brilliance from Amad to scrape through Southampton.ETH’s damage is so big and Ruben needs time to find the way to fix them. At least we now see the team has the right mindset, not perfect but a huge improvement than under ETH.

That team, playing deep, compact, counter attacking football like Ten Hags first season absolutely destroys this god awful crap we are watching.
And no one can convince me otherwise
Is it safe to start questioning the manager without getting shamed on here or do we need to have a bit more patience?
I want to come to with something that I think he could do to make us better, but I know it’s not happening no matter what. We could change formation, try other players, but ultimately the result will be the same.

He needs to be better than this even when we apply the context that he's only been here 3 months. He said this himself when he joined, he will need time but you win time by winning games.
We don't have one player that benefits from playing this formation, or look better in any sort of way. We look worse than ever.
