Our midfield is still getting over run log after his sacking, including today against the mighty Indidi and Winks. Maybe it goes a bit beyond the managers intentions

But he could easily play with attacking wing backs instead of having 5 defenders on the pitch plus Ugarte. That’s why we are so slow building from the back and why we don’t create anything.
If we carry on with 343 he has to be bold and go with Amad and Dorgu as wing backs. Zirkzee and Garnacho as the 10’s and Hojlund as the 9. We play our best football when we have attacking wing backs which is easy to see.

Did you see when Southampton tore us up and should’ve been 3-0 up at half time at OT? How about that rancid match at Fulham where we win off a one in a million deflection from outside the box? The win in Europe against HSBC, well they’re about the level of a mid table Championship club. Sure he’s done it in Portugal but this is the big leagues. Every team, even relegation fodder, are strong, physical and athletic with a plan. I’ve been thinking about this whole ‘this season is a write off narrative’ but if nothing else he needs to show something to the higher ups where they trust him with a rebuild. It’s utterly pathetic and for me it’s 50/50, he could go on to become our saviour but I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if he turns out to be another false hope.

Maybe but its not entirely unrelated to how the rest of the side is set up under Amorim. Its not exactly a classic double pivot.
We do the opposite of pack the midfield. The middle 2 really is a middle 2 with the wing backs somewhere far away, a defender supposedly meant to step in to equal the numbers but it rarely happens, and three players somewhere ahead of the ball but often chasing shadows.
I can understand the desire to absolve Amorim of all blame as it makes it easier to believe there's light at the end of the tunnel. I've stopped believing. There's too much evidence now that a lot of these problems are being added to by his approach instead of mitigated.
Aye it’s bizarre. The players are clearly looking for cutbacks a lot more since he came in so it’s obviously been instructed, so why wouldn’t you have your wingbacks on the correct side so they can break forward quickly and cut it back with their strong foot?
“Philosophy managers”, for lack of better word, can have really high ceilings but the learning curve is pretty steep to get to see results.
He clearly knows what he wants. He cares about physicality, strength, pace, coverage of the right positions, and is okay with sacrificing some technique for it. This explains Dorgu, Collyer, Dalot, Hojlund over some more technical options who don’t bring the physicality. It’s also why I don’t think he’s sold on Mainoo, like at all, and couldn’t tolerate Rashford.
My worry is that these types of managers by design require patience, and either working with young players who have the raw ingredients and can be moulded over time, or a big chequebook. We don’t have the latter, so we’re clearly going after the former by signing relatively cheap very young players who have the physical attributes required even if they’re not super technical.
It’s all about the belief and patience of the fanbase and the owners. Elements of this are similar to LVG, with the main difference being that Amorim is much younger so the upside of getting it right and the potential longevity is great.
I feel like it is worth the risk vs churning through pragmatic managers who get some better results short term but ultimately we don’t go anywhere with them long term. Obviously this has to be within reason.

He is genuinely starting to annoy me more than Ten Hag with his stubborn and stupid decisions. Not saying he should be sacked but he is making life harder than it needs to be for himself.

Even Bruno and Ugarte looked alive when we actually had attacking players on. If we have less it's easy for teams to cover. The starting dynamic is not working for anyone. Once we got going we can have Maz and Yoro getting up as well but it's so negative with limited attacking players on.

The logic there baffles me. Dorgu can also play on the left and Dalot is more suited and plays more on the right.
