2 prime examples of his lack of intelligence last night was his dummy in the box. He never once looked, in the build up to Yoro's cross to see if he had support behind him and also a moment in the 1st half when we broke with Bruno in a 3v3. Bruno was running centrally with Hojlund to his right. All he had to do was vary his body movement to throw his defender off and give himself a yard or 2 of space. Instead he just ran in a straight line, at the same pace as his marker, basically ruling himself out as an option for Bruno.
If anyone remembers the above scenario, i guarantee that if we had a decent striker, Bruno gets an assist in that exact situation 99 times out of 100.

Him not scoring goals regularly is not about the service. Its about him and his lack of intelligence!

I disagree. Though i do see what your saying. An intelligent player constantly scans the pitch and has awareness of whats going on around them. Not once in any of the replays of the dummy incident did Rasmus look anywhere other than at the ball on the build up to the cross from Yoro. He dummied it based on nothing more than a guess that somebody was behind him. Had he have checked his right shoulder, just once in the 5 seconds that led to Yoro's cross he would have known he was effectively in the box on his own.
I actually think he is stupid, in a footballing sense which is why he is never in the correct position to A. convert just one of the many crosses and pullbacks we deliver into the box and B. Find himself a few yards of space to assist with the build up. 90% of our attacking shortfalls are due to this 1 player. Stick even an average CF in this team for a few games and the difference would be night and day.

Hojlund will be at Old Trafford next season. He's the one senior number 9 at the club. We owe about 40m on him. We would need to sell him for that to break even. We literally can't afford to take a hit on him unless we had a massive influx of cash.

He's a donkey of a CF (attacking the player, not the person). In one game Bruno was furious with him for not being in a position to receive a pass in the final third. His positioning above all is just terrible. How many times did we have someone carry the ball into a dangerous area and this guy is nowhere near the 18 yard box.

Would loan with the option to buy. He is just not good enough.

I agree, he needs to drop out for a bit, but doesn't need to be sold, there is avery good player in there, we saw it last season and have a couple of times this season. He is just a player in a team struggling for confidence and his self belief is rock bottom. The difference between his form last season and this season is huge.

There is no very good player in him. He never was a superior talent but the stupid fee we paid made everyone believe he's special.

He was highly regarded couple years prior to his move, obviously right now looks like a ghost of himself. The problem is we can't drop him, and the situation is getting worse every week. But in 2-3 years he will be playing at a decent level.

Agree to disagree, I think there's definitely a player in there, his positioning at Atalanta was praised as one of his strengths, he's powerful and fast and when on form has a deft touch, you saw it last season and a couple of flashes this season, though they have been very rare, but his goal against Brentford, for example, was lovely. His second goal against Galatasaray last season, showed his pace, power and touch as did his goal against West Ham last season. I know he has been appalling recently, but when on form he can be a good striker

I think his problem is purely mental strength, he's not strong enough to deal with the pressure of being the primary goal scorer for United when the whole team is completely down on its arse and as a result his confidence and form have fallen off a cliff. It maybe that he won't recover at United and you need to get rid, or he may score a couple and rediscover his form, I don't know. But there is definitely a good player in there and its nothing to do with the fee.

Yes. If the new management is any good they would move him on in the summer rather than waiting for him to come good for another three years. He doesn't have the tools to shine at a top club. He needs to go to another league and build his career.

Can't rely on a player that drops this much in quality when things don't go his way, a striker that goes invisible 15+ games a season. He doesn't have the mentality to handle the pressure of big club football.

Agreed. I watch him off the ball during every match and it’s pitiful how bad his decision making and positioning is.

Rasmus for parts of last season and this current campaign is the worst striker I've seen at United by some considerable distance. It's not that he's missing chances but he offers the team nothing in possession this is the issue. It's what makes him even more of a liability than Weghorst who at the very least, could drop into the midfield and play / contribute in the build up.
