The penalty should be higher then the buy clause - otherwise what would be the point? In theory you'd think it would be more then what they would owe us to buy him, but less then what the overall cost would be to them when you factor in wages over the length of his contract.

What's very ironic is that Sancho, if he could discover even half of the level he was at when he was at Dortmund, could be a genuinely great fit for us in the left 10 role. His profile fits it so perfectly that, had he not acted out the way he did, I'd be well up for giving him another shot next season. As is, I think his behaviour makes it nigh on impossible.

It depends how much that break is though, if it's anything about £20m then fair enough (Chelsea might find that worth it so they're not stuck with him for 5 years)
You didn't get any loan fee but Chelsea are paying "the majority" of his wages. The "get-out" fee is basically in place of a loan fee so It'll probably be pretty chunky but I've not seen any figure reported anywhere.

I was just saying that at his best he is, somewhat ironically, an almost perfect fit for that left attacking midfield role now.

Wonder if there might be some more transfer shenanigns to come with this one. In the post from earlier that shared some of the Chelsea fans thoughts, there was someone saying that they needed to not repeat the mistake they made with Joao Felix but that was not really a mistake as it was understood that going back and buying him was a PSR deal in order to get the Gallagher to Atletico deal that they desperately needed finalized. Chelsea did not want Felix, they wanted Omorodion which collapsed, but they needed to sell Gallagher which Atletico could not afford without an outgoing transfer.

In line with Amorims decision he could very well play under the system. I made the same observation, Sancho doesn't suit a traditional winger role, he doesn't have the athleticism to beat his man consistently. He can be tidy in possession, the left 10 role makes perfect sense especially in an environment where United won't have excess funds going into the summer.
The point posters are making about his application and temperament are perfectly correct but at the end of the day if Amorim intends to utilise him (if he returns) he will be given the opportunity pre season.
Ehh, they'd still get the player, so the penalty doesn't have to be higher than the clause in order for it to make sense. If they can get the player for £25m or trigger a penalty of £15m by breaking the contract (I don't know if that's the actual figure), they'd just take the player. He's not worthless.

Well say the break is £28m... To them it might be worth paying the extra £4m then be saddled with paying his wages for however many years. It'll cost them more in the long run.
