Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

He’s working with absolute dross that aren’t fit for purpose. He’s also on borrowed time, too inflexible and almost certainly won’t be here in 6-12 months.

I don't disagree mate, I just don't see anything that warrants him changing the players

I feel bad for him, he's been brought in to manage a squad that isn't remotely equipped to play his football (or really any football), hasn't had any real support in terms of players he needs, plus he's lost the handful of good players he does have to injuries.

Just a terrible appointment, and yes hindsight is a bitch because I believed at the time that he was the best, most exciting coach available. But feck me he has been found out and we cannot persist with this and waste money on new players for this shite system.

Then he should be doing something different.
Like what? Not play them 2? Cause they are shit? What can he do? What can a manager do when dealt shit players? I've seen post like this so many times... sure maybe Amorim is not the man, but I know 100% that these players aren't either. They are the worst bunch of players I've seen play for us. Shit mentality, shit decision making etc.

I've been pretty supportive of the manager as he hasn't had much financial support since coming in.

That being said, his in game management tonight has been absolutely shocking and warrants much criticism.

There is a reason none of the elite teams are playing with 3ATB. Whos bright idea was it to hire this dude to manage a broken team who never played this formation and think this will solve the issues

He needs to go after this. Terrible tactics coaching terrible players. I have seen enough

Do we really need a 2007--2008 level team of talent to hold on to a two goal lead at home against a Mediocre Lyon side, or to stop a team down to 10 men scoring twice against us in extra time?

He has come in made things much worse than when he got it. He is not the answer and the sooner that inept Board realises it, the better.

At this stage the CEO should be in the firing line for such an appointment.

Seems like a sound bloke and handsome to boot, but enough is enough. Not going anywhere under him unfortunately

I'm honestly baffled how people can blame him for this game. I'd understand if we were hapless the whole game, with nothing working for the team. We scored two through a tactically sound setup and should've finished the chances we had after that. The player then went to pieces when we conceded a soft fortuitous goal.

I don't disagree about the players. I have seen nothing though that suggests this guy should be given millions to replace them.

You should never spend big in January. Clubs want too much, your top targets aren't available. And that's without mentioning we're skint.

Amorim would have known that when he took the job.

Do we really want to invest a bunch of money on over-specialised players just for him to still be a flop come christmas, and having to buy a brand new squad on unexisting money for the new coach ? The squad is shit indeed but he's taken us to another level of hell. No player has improved under his tutelage and i shudder to think of where will be without Bruno.

The board is going all in on him and I hope they're going to bee proven right, because the alternative is pretty grim for us…

Tonight is a perfect example of the main problem with Amorim and that is that he simply refuses to change things tactically when things aren’t working, he may change the players but the tactics never change and his in game management is so defensive and at times horrific.

As nice as Amorim seems to be as a person he simply isn’t working at United and I don’t think giving him a boat load of money for transfers is going to help, people can say we weren’t doing well with a back four and that good players can adapt but tactically Amorim has actually made us worse.
He actually changed some stuff tactically tonight for the worse. In the second half, we just sat in our box, happy to give up possession and waited for the counter.

That was a clear change from the more attack minded 1st half and a tactical instruction. Amorim went full Pulis and paid for it.

he is allowed to change things instead of letting it slowly collapse over the course of 75 minutes.

You can't blame him for taking the opportunity, he even asked to wait until the end of the season, it was our management that insisted it happen mid season

What should he be blamed for if not the appalling results?

There’s no maybe anymore. That coach is not the answer. In fact he is the farthest from the answer. He makes Moyes look competent. Horrible coach with horrible game plan.

His absolute lack of trust in the Academy when we are basically crap beggars belief. Chido Obi had a decent sub appearance and then vanishes completely from the scene when we have no attackers available. Is this the man we need leading the club? Get him out of the door now before we buy players for his crazy ass style and then get stuck with more dead weight.

My days. He's breathed life into a corpse.
