Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach | Thread locked during matches

And what would the solution be? We were shite with Eth in charge and he spent nearly 600 million. The season was cast away keeping eth in position and not backing Amorim with attacking players.

There is no excuse for Amorim losing 50% of his 22 matches in charge and having us in the bottom half of the table

Should get a proper window and next season until Dec. If he doesn't improve by then he should go.
Doesn’t make much sense though does it. Get players in to fit a system hardly any other coach does only to sack him the next season and be stuck with players on 4 year contracts the new coach doesn’t like

Either we stick for a couple of seasons or twist and get in a new manager over the summer.

I’m happy either way as he looks like a bad choice at the moment.

Yup. When we're in the relegation zone next yeat after blowing another £200m. Only then should he be fired. The standards are so high at the great Manchester United.
He's hardly been given a fair chance so far. The player material he has to deal with especially up front is utter crap. If we buy a proper striker and number 10 and he still doesn't deliver he should be done

Statistically hed be on course for a 38 point season. Massively alarming record regardless of mitigating factors

Yep, and we had nearly 75% of this forum backing him to remain in charge after the fiasco that was last season and spending half a billion on players.
Utterly clueless, the hysterical over reaction to one fluke win played a big part in this.

But isn't the same happening right now? Every excuse available, and some are totally legit, is trotted out to defend a manager's performance that's really indefensible. It's not about today, and not about Newcastle, it's about the whole stint

I agree, Amorin has been very poor in the main but the season was a guaranteed 100% disaster from the moment Ten Hag was not shot into the sun after the FA Cup final. The inevitability of what would happen was painfully obvious.

We are in need of a proper striker and a proper number 10. Every manager can use that. Same for the CM position

This thread will be busier than the match day thread which was quiet until we conceded. Bet most of the usual moaners didn't even watch the game just got a notification on their phone and rushed to moan about Amorim.

Completely agree.

We can bang on about personnel and signings all we want, but other than a couple of determined, resolute performances against big teams away from home, he has conducted absolutely nothing resembling quality. Especially in an attacking sense.

The bloke who joined wolves has implemented a 343, with a worse squad, and has picked up 13 more points in the league than Amorim since he joined. Let that sink in.

That is an abysmal showing.

Spot on

Yes he can only work with the personnel he has and yes the squad is a mess, but absolutely no excuse for picking up as few points as this.

I also don’t buy into this whole thing of a manager coming in with a system they insist upon playing, regardless of the players they have at their disposal. Find a system that accommodates them, instead of shoehorning them into the one that worked with a completely different team in a lesser league!

That’s probably what worries me the most. If someone had come in who could tweak EtH’s system but actually knew what they were doing, I feel like we would be back to being a handful of smart signings (ever elusive) away from being competitive, instead of looking down the barrel of yet another 4 year rebuild: wing back edition.

Honestly, people who see things black and white are going to be burned next season.

Amorim could do more with this squad, even if they are so poor. When he players the younger kids, you can clearly see they are either as good or better.

For example, why does he have to play Eriksen? He won’t be here next season, has no legs, and has no impact on a game!

No doubt about that. I'm not even convinced Amorim is poor, he's just been a very poor fit considering the circumstances, timing and our financial situation

Regardless of rather he's been given a fair chance or not, he should at least be able to churn out some draws at the minimum in this league. Standards have plummeted so incredibly low. Another loss at Old Trafford to Wolves, not even a goal or a draw. It's appalling stuff.

You can see the potential of his shape and tactical plan. Even if we are still losing every other game, you can see what he’s trying to do, and the in game performances are changing.

3 months ago, we would’ve lost 0-1 but also put in a disaster of a performance.

Today was different, we had 5 clear cut chances imo. All created from great patterns of play.

They conceded 61 goals this season. In our two matches against them, we scored 0.

This United's team is really poor. He has, however, not made most of it either. With more players fitting his system i'd expect the team to win more games. Games like today and quite often i find United being better but not getting results, whereas under EtH United got quite some points whilst being shite.

I agree it is. But our focus is on the EL now. Understandably. And I thought our performance was quite good today. It's a shame we have a donkey up front

Why is Amorim so averse to giving Maguire a number 9 role for the interim period until we get that position sorted? He’d nick us a goal today if Hojlund didn’t start

We were the far better team in general play. Controlled the game. Created a good few chances. They created absolutely nothing but knocked in a free kick from 25 yards.

Manager's fault, of course.

We desperately need a better striker but that won't fix the fact that we don't control games, we concede goals regularly even when playing with an extra centre back and we don't create enough. A better striker wins us some games on their own and maybe drags us to midtable but the recruitment elsewhere is going to have to be really good, which is unlikely given our record over the years, and Amorim is going to have to make a much bigger impact than he is this year otherwise he won't make it to Christmas.

The results and performances since he came in have been way below expectations and continue to be so. Maybe we deserved a point or even three today in isolation but generally we look and play like the 15th or 16th best team in the league and that wasn't what us fans or surely the club anticipated after 6 months.

Yep, and we had nearly 75% of this forum backing him to remain in charge after the fiasco that was last season and spending half a billion on players.
And the other 25% were roundly mocked as moaners / not real fans / people who didn't understand football.

Many here would do well to learn a bit of humility.

Genuinely impressed how some can be angry at the manager after todays game. We have obvious issues in creating and scoring goals, but we were comfortably the better team today and got done by a free kick totally against the run of play.

He needs to find an alternative to Hojlund and start experimenting with a false 9. We are not winning the EL with Hojlund up top

My mind is actually boggled by some people on here. Our current manager is being treated worse than the guy he replaced who spend half a billion quid and had 2 proper, full seasons along with taking over a better side and not being asked to play a completely different style of football.

People are actually saying that guy did a better job than a manager who came in part way through the season, is being asked to play a completely different style of football to what the squad was built for and has had a single player bought for him. A player that likely isn't going to be first choice in the future.

Christ on a bike. We can talk about Amorim after next season. Until then, back the bloody manager.

Today should have been another easy win but we have precisely 0 players who can consistently score. You don't score. You don't win. Oh and when we do score, there is a reasonable chance one of our players or most likely our keeper will have an absolute howler to undo it. Is that on the manager too? Perhaps he shouldn't have signed Onana or Bayindir. Oh wait.

Every time we have looked likely to have a settled or remotely positive part of the team, there have been injuries. Amad was looking good. Long term injury. Mainoo was out for a long time. Martinez was giving us something we desperately needed from our CBs. Injured for a long time. Zirkzee, however low the bar is for quality at United, was starting to play into some form.

This manager has been given nothing but shit and some of the fans are just grabbing a shovel.

Yes, ETH didn't have us in relegation form. He was shit and should've been sacked despite the FA cup win, but our league form is a different level of disaster
I think the manager isn't the biggest problem. Amorim may or may not be the guy however the one thing that's indisputable is that the players aren't it.

Better of focusing on getting recruitment right, if you sign good players, than a new manager will come in and do a good job.

Understandably, our eggs are all in the Europa League basket. But if we lose as expected, there needs to be consequences for finishing 16th-17th.

We had an xG of 1.1 (looking at the first source available). So yeah we should have scored, but it's not like we should've blown them away

frustrating thing is, we've seen this type of games before, some promising build up play, tepid up front, opponents proceeds to score off a rare chance
