Is only 29 years old but has an astonishing number of miles on the clock. Contracted until 2027, I believe. Can’t see him leaving before then.

Anyone remind Shaw that it was a European final? No sense of urgency or spirit at all. Another player that has overstayed his welcome.

Played every pass at 1mph and behind his team mates even when he had acres of space and time. What the feck is wrong with him?

I can 'understand' not tracking runs and being on his heels all the time because he's a fecking lazy cnut but the slow passes?!

I have a video of me playing football with my dad when I had just about learned how to walk, where my dad would just carefully nudge the ball towards me so it didn't knock me over. I'm pretty sure he still hit the ball harder than Shaw did with a dozen or so of his passes tonight.

Incredibly lucky to even make the final after what he's shown since coming back and that form carried on in this game, awful.

One of the worst individual performances I have seen at this level… Just sad for him. And for us…

Not fit, in terms of both sharpness and cardiovascular fitness. Lost concentration to give Johnson the chance to fluke their goal.

A fully fit and firing Luke Shaw is an incredible player, unfortunately that's a very rare sighting.

A car crash of a bump justified only by understandable disappointment.

Lads, everyone was shit.

Top to bottom.

Shit.
I don’t see it as being a silly bump, I was looking forward to him maybe finding a new role as a LCB but the sad fact is that he hasn’t been very good when he’s played. His sideways passing was annoying and he seems unfit, way too unfit to put in the kind of running Dorgu did for example and yet people want him to be starting wingback.

What was with that?! Kept slowing us down with his crap passing.

In hindsight a mistake to start him, but the bigger mistake was not rectifying it as it was clear he wasn’t up to it. Played the full game at walking pace.

It’s crazy how him and Lindelof have managed to survive for so long. You add Maguire in there and it’s the trio of mediocrity.

Amazing this is his 11th season at the club.

He was really lucky to start tonight as he has made numerous errors since being back fit and he isn't good enough to play LCB no matter how many times he is tried there. He was too slow in everything he did tonight.

But yeah, Shaw imo cost us the game in terms of the way we transition, and the shape across the pitch.

We've proven it works with Yoro LCB, driving runs inside.

Should have been

Yoro Maguire Mazroui

Shaw was an utter waste of space tonight.
And I don't even count the own goal as an issue. Maguire should have bust everything to put it behind. It wasnt enough to realise it was going beyond his man, so thinking he could leave it.

Basics. Something this club has forgotten all about at every level.
I think we play that if Dalot was fit for the 90.

It was either going to be Shaw or Lindelof and I think most people would have picked Shaw. Shaw has looked way off it since coming back, though.

None of them were good. And for once, that isn’t fatalism.

The guy couldn't hit a single proper pass, was late for the goal and especially in the first half looked awkward in every defensive action. It's a joke he looks as heavy as he does after spending half the season injured with the physio, it is a joke he is still here and the biggest joke he started this final for us

He’s been distinctly average since he came back and none of his recent performances warranted a start in a final. He offered nothing.

Possibly the most overrated player (once taking into account injuries) we’ve had in the last decade.

Toss up between him and Cavani

He is an opportunistic c*nt. Couldn't bother to play last season, only to be magically back fit for England , to then disappearing for most of the season , only to be back to play the most important game. Amorim deserves all the blame for starting him.

No joke, Lindelof would have been leagues better.

Shaw's a walking symbol of how low our standards dropped in the post-Fergie era.

It should have been unacceptable that he rushed himself back for England after missing 239 days for us that season. Yet even after he was predictably ruled out again right after his England excursions, half the fanbase still did the "playing for England is a big deal! he deserves it!" routine. He's missed another 294 days this season. On the rare occasion that he is available to play he invariably comes back overweight and deconditioned. Again, no problem! Take your time Lukey, we support you Shawy!

He's averaged 18 PL games a season across his 11 years here.

Don't want to be too harsh on him, as I know first hand how injuries can affect someone. But the injuries have unfortunately ruined him. He looks like he is scared to push his body which happens after the constant injuries. Real shame

Couldn't believe my eyes when he was named to start when you consider he's been a mile off the pace since returning from injury, no surprise the games only goal he played a part in it however Onana and Maguire was just as poor.

He's just a walking disaster.

He just had to be involved in the goal tonight, you just knew if there were any calamities tonight, it was gonna involve him or Onana.

He gave away a needless penalty at home to Lyon in the Quarter-Final (which put Lyon 4-2 up on the night, and we looked all but out of the competition), but some heroics from other players got us over the line to win 5-4 on the night and we advanced to the semi-final.
That game against Lyon should have told our manager that Luke Shaw cannot be trusted, and he should never have started the Final.

I rate Shaw highly but he's struggled since coming back. His last game was probably his best so I (and I presume Amorim) were hopeful he was on an upward curve, but unfortunately he was poor again. Especially in the first half where he was terrible. Second half was more like it, but Spurs basically just sat back and barely attacked so made it easy on him.

He definitely doesn't suit as a LCB in this system, the guy switches off too much to things happening behind him. This happened in the recent PL games he's played too, he keeps forgetting his role, and keeps trying to play as a LB in this system

We can’t get rid unless some Italian team takes him, clearly needs to be moved on now.

In what way was his second half 'more like it'? Lazy counter pressing, constantly getting square on the ball so he can only pass it backwards to Onana or Maguire whenever a shirt showed anywhere near his vicinity and most of his passes to Dorgu or Garnacho were at their heels and with zero tempo/speed. He had maybe one good cross and obviously had that header but overall, he was just so lethargic and with little urgency.

Maybe I'm remembering wrong because I just cannot stand his lack of effort. He has clutch moments and quality but it's overshadowed by 90% of his other game.

Should've listened to Mourinho and moved him on then, waste of space.
Nah he was fine until he got reinjured trying to be chosen to play for England. He should've been sold last summer though, we can actually get a profit since he's been paid off for years now
