Do you know much about "Charro" and the maquina?
Charro Moreno, my grandapa told us that he was even better than Maradona(he was a huge River fan:lol:) The maquina was one of the better teams in the history of argentinean football, Moreno, Labruna, Pedernera, Lousteau. It was a time when teams attacked with four or five fowards, another football.

I know a lot about the team and the player. I was just going to ask you how is he rated in Argentina? I have been told it goes:

1. Moreno
2. Di Stefano
3. Maradona

but because of Maradona's era and him winning the world cup he is in the hearts of more people?

Everything I have heard about Charro suggests he was Argentina's Duncan Edwards, except that obviously he lived to play his career. Have you seen any footage of him? I only have one clip of him doing kick-ups, no actual game footage :(

Do you have any?

no, i dont have any footage, and you wont find much cause he played in the late 40s and till mid 50s

and yes, DiStefano was the best argentinian player, second comes moreno and third maradona

the first two are river plate born and breed players

Where would you lads rank Francescoli among River greats? Top 3, 5 or beyond? Also, do you think Zico was a better no 10 than him?

Francescoli was an excelent player too, from the ones i saw i rate her number 1 or 2 with Norberto Alonso, they were magic.

Zico was more a 10 than Francescoli, who, IMHO, was more a CF, both were classy.

Aah I see. Any memorable games between River/Flamengo at their peaks? I've only watched them in the big competitions and was wondering if there was a club rivalry going as well.

don´t recall any but, River Plate never have good games against brazilian teams, only in 97 when we defeated San Pablo in the Supercopa finals.

wasn't flamengo the team we beat in the quaterfinals of that Supercopa 5:0 in their own stadium?

big scandal, the flamengo players where attacked by their own supporters

I am surprised you're saying there is no footage of La Maquina shown in Argentina!! Don't you ever have tributes to older greats or club anniversaries or whatever celebrating them?
