Having the pragmatism to realise that not everyone will be available or willing, you might just end up with someone who isn't exactly a 'name' (but who might just do a great job). And also disregarding this Coolmore Mafia takeover.

Personally I think you'll bag Erikson (I've been saying that since before Lawrenson started banging on about it on Footie Focus and The Last Word).

You'll not get O'Neill since he brought the Observer to court, though I think he'd be a cracking manager too.

Would you accept
McClaren?
O'Leary? (I think he's Machiavellian enough to dump Leeds despite his holier-than-thou attitude)
Wenger? (Doubtful, you have to admit)
Van Gaal? (Potentially disastrous for you IMHO)
Hitzfeld? (Another excellent appointment)
Trapp/Capello/Lippi (entering the realms of fantasy now, would harldy be well suited)

What you think then?

O'neill is the man for me,but since it looks hes becoming more and more unavailable i would go with o'leary.

Could you stand the bleatings of O'Nearly?

" Just because I've got the spending power I always pretended I hadn't doesn't mean that my sort of young team will win anything"

;)

Anybody see Atkinson's piece in the Gaurdian today - he makes a somewhat bizarre case for UTD taking Souness as the next manager - claiming he is a "closet Man Utd fan" - certainly hid it well when he beat the crap out of us ywaer in and year out!

Anybody but O'Leary.

big fat ron talks out of his arse though, and hasn't predicted anything correctly since he guessed that the 1974 grand national would be won by "a horse".

my early hunch for your manager's job was george burley - i've seen nothing to change that opinion since.....

No to O'Dreary....Can you imagine utd players doing what Mills, Bowyer, Smith.....get up to? NO! NO! NO!

I'd like to see Capello but I've got a feeling it's going to O'Neil...

Why so?

Hitzfeld, Eriksson, O'Neill in that order.

If not, Capello or O'Leary.

NOT VAN GAAL!

dream on sunshine.

:D :p

My choice is Capello.
O`Neil,O`Leary both is not good enough for big club like UNITED!!!!!!!
My option:
1.Capello
2.Hitzfeld
3.Erikson

feckin hope he's dreaming on. O'neil's done feck all to warrant even being in the frame for the job of Manager of the greatest football team.

Hitzfeld is class. he went all the way with borussia dortmund took them out of the couldrums , to win the bundes league and then champions leauge. then went of to a crap bayern and did the same again.i can't see anybody else at the moment thats better. But i would not cry if O'neil came.

It's a same O'Neil does not feel that way heh boys
I guess he just has a soft spot for us just like
your captain Keano.

Do be surprised if we take your captain away for the start of next season then we will see who is laughing.

I laugh at Celtic every week...Keano will join you at the end of his career when he no longer feels like the challenge, and wants to take it easy...The Scottish league is getting worse.

Why do you laugh at Celtic every week, did you laugh when they pumped you at the start of the season, did you laugh when sutton slapped becks across the face and told the little poof to stop acting like a bitch cause I know I did and so did
the other 25.000 fans that travelled down to show
you what supporting a team really means so dont laugh at Celtic laugh at your own sad little life,
dry your eyes and go and buy a season ticket if you even know where OT is.

I would be happy with any of the following...

Ericson
O'leary
Cappelo
Hitzfield

i would concider O'neil as a maybe

I'm glad you enjoyed your "game of the season" so much ( a close season friendly at OT). But really you should really aim for better things .... the scotish league cup ????

Just why would Keano join you ... definatly not for footballing reasons although all the great compitions your in eeeeerrr........ would easily convince him
and all the great players you have eeerrrrr .... he would love to play with!
and your fantastic manager  who has won it all eeeeeerrrrr.... and he'll be coming down here anyway and bringing that King Henrik with him ...... to clean RVN boots

How about Martin O'Neill of Celtic ? He is apparently looking for bigger and better things after his contract expires next year. :D

If its a question of who i'd really love to see at O.T. then it's gotta be..
1,Cappello..
or
2,Hizfeld..
If it's a question of who i think will get it..
1,O'Neill..
Although i would like to see M.O'N. at O.T. I would like him to have a bit more experience at Celtic with a run in Europe in any Comp. ;) ;)

Agreed, plus he's a dick . . .

He said during World Cup 98 that Denmark didn't even deserve to be there and would sink without trace  Quarter-feckin-finals you tosser! Stick that in your pipe and stick it up ya arse!

*cough* Excuse me . . . ;)

Well, I can't see Capello or Hitzfeld coming to United. O'Niel may or may not. However, I defeinitly don't want O'Leary to come to OT. People complain about van Gaal brining in Dutch Players, well, O'Leary would bring in a bunch of thugs like he has at Leeds. It would be terrible. I would be disgusted to see O'Leary at United.

Would you accept
McClaren? Yes
O'Leary? If all the other candidates reject us
Wenger? Yes
Van Gaal? Same as O'Leary
Hitzfeld? Yes
Trapp/Capello/Lippi Yes

Why?what did he actually win?and what star(Eu) will want to play for him?

What's all this about Celtic being little? They're one of the best supported clubs in the world, and although the rest of the Scottish league is crap them and Rangers would give any English team a run for their money. O'Neil is a great manager, and has brought back the league to Celtic park when just a few years ago Rangers were winning everything. He was unlucky not to get Celtic to the second round of the CL. I'd take him in a second, why is Wenger better than O'Neil, all Wenger has won is the EPL.

I'd take:
O'Neil
Erikkson
Holtzfield
Wenger

I would accept anyone of the usual suspects except Van Gaal. His last two efforts have hardly been worthy of conisderation for one of the top club jobs in the world.

O'Neil took a bunch of SPL players and some ex-Leicester players into the Champions League and did ok, they were unlucky IMO.

He is a leader in the Man Utd mould. Honest, passionate, hungry, a great motivator. With a squad like ours that has done it all, we'll need someone like that.

Only ones who will see success IMO are MoN, Hitzfeld or Sven.

MoN is the only one who can come close to carrying on Fergies mantle though, the rest will just resume their own careers as they have been going rather than continue flying the Utd flag.
