We will miss Park his form lately has been very important to us while valencia is out and Giggs is suffering from little niggles. Cleverly returning in January will also help us until Park and Valencia return.

I dont think we need to buy in January, however we can reassess this position in the summer when we know more about Valencias return from injury, giggs future and the progression of Obertan/Bebe.

I tried to think of one reason why anyone would loan us a winger in January for a month but couldn't come up with one. Beckham is the only possibility but I don't think we will bring him in.

Wouldn't mind Nani on the left for a few games, Giggs still does a bloody good job, Obertan probably wasn't ready and as his best performances have been in the middle, SAF might be considering a position change for Obertan, Bebe' is still out of the question, needs more training but hopefully he will come good...

I don't see how signing a player would work for us... Not to mention SAF does shift Rooney on the left if he needed to... ( I don't like him playing there though )

Charles N'Zogbia please.
I'm a big fan of his, only issue is that he is more effective on the right where we have a plethora of options. Regardless I still think he could do a job for us on the left.. but I'd rather we wait until the summer and make decisions on any transfers then rather than rush and buy without necessity in January.

I'm also a fan of his. He normally plays on the left though doesn't he (I guess that is a different issue to where he is best)?

I definitely think he has a move to a big club in him.

There is no position called winger. There are two positions left winger and right winger. We have plenty of right wingers, that is where Nani is best, Valencia, Obertan. Park is not a winger in my eyes, he is a left or right midfielder. He does a wide contribution, and more than most wingers from a defensive point of view, simply a man whom can play anywhere at the midfield and those are always useful.

We do not need a "proper" winger, we need a left winger. I think its important that who ever we get is a left footer. Simply because none of the ones we have are. I think the two best options is Bale - he will be a £50m man in the transfer window, Juan Mata is probably the best option he will also be fiercly expensive. Wingers are rare, there are not many world class wingers around, I think we need to wait until the summer. If we are to give someone a chance, I think the best bet would be someone like Douglas Costa, a bit unknown with a potential. Not in the top of Europe as they are so expensive in the January window.

What about Valencia? He's a proper winger...better than Ashley Young.

N'Zogbia? Christ...

Are people taking this thread seriously? Actually going along with the idea of buying someone as cover for Nani/Valencia's injuries and Park's jaunt to Qatar?
I don't think we'd be buying someone as cover or as a replacement whilst Park is away. What people are discussing is the possibility of buying a left winger as we don't have one at the moment. Park is a central midfielder who can do a job from the left (as is Giggs) and Nani/Valencia are both right wingers, the former of which can do a job from the left.

We have 8 central midfielders to occupy 2/3 spots, but only 2 real wingers.

N'Zogbia has been doing great this season... I don't get where all the negativeness is coming from...

Might not be United quality, but I'd say he has done wonders for that Wigan side.

Also, GB mentioned Douglas Costa which we had monitored him since his Brazilian days, I must say I have been impressed with the highlights in youtube this season... Not to mention his play vs Le' Arse etc...

I'm sure SAF will surprise us again... We certainly won't be going for a 50m Bale.
