Just hope we don't drop back and let them camp in our half. We should play on the front foot as we have better players.

This is the game, if any is, for José to stick with his preference for hard workers. It'll be a disgrace if any of our boys leave less than everything out on the pitch tonight.

On paper we sh0uld be better than Ajax and win this.

But on paper we shouldn't have been losing to Feyenoord or Fernebache. Or barely hanging on against Celta Vigo. All thos teams have found a way to bring us down to their level.

I feel even more nervous than I did before Barca in 2009 ( then I might have been a bit overconfident). The football we have been playing over the last 2 months has been dire .

I can see this going to extra time or even penalties.

That's all to logical for my liking, in a one-off game such as the Europa final anything can and very likely will happen. I'm generally quite positive in the build up to our games, but with so much riding on this one I can't help but feel anxious about it. Placing all our hopes on one solitary game felt like a risk at the time and it feels the same now.

Just want this game out of the way.

    I feel you mate.

But it was obviously more risky to have tried to chase both a top four position and the EL Cup. It just stopped making sense especially after the Swansea game considering the injuries, the quality of the coming oppositions, the fixtures, and the way the boys seemed to have lost steam. We can blame Jose all day long but I think it was simply the smart thing to do despite it being risky.

Moreover, remember last year when Emery did the same thing at Sevilla? He focused on the EL final and that led to a string of loses for Sevilla. Some people seriously criticized him for that but look at how they dismantled a Liverpool side that looked stronger on paper.

I do understand your concern though. Our boys have been inconsistent when it comes to raising the quality of their play. If Jose has sacrificed everything to ensure they are fully pumped up for tonight, then Ajax will have a very rough night.

The football we have been playing recently has been perfect leading up to tonight.

I can imagine the Ajax boys licking their lips because they think they are about to meet a weak Manchester United.

    They will be shocked. :)

I can't imagine how Pogba feels at the moment, with the recent event in Manchester piling on top of what happened in his family.

Hopefully he's dying to get out on to the field and get his mind off things.

«Michael Carrick claims Mourinho is ‘quite relaxed… he likes a laugh and a joke’ - but adds a caveat: ‘As long as you’re winning.’» Who would want otherwise?

I dont know how busy Manchester is with the final. Everything is about Ajax here now in Amsterdam, just came from uni and all I hear, see is Ajax Ajax Ajax, it's insane.
We've got more important things to worry about, tbh.

Do the Feyenoord fans support us here?
From the newbies (no idea how representative this is of Feyenoord fans in general):

It will be a very interesting match! As a Feyenoord-fan I'm really quite neutral. In general I would hope that Ajax wins, but since we would have to split the Champions League-funds with them, for Feyenoord it would (in the short term) be better if United wins. The decisive factor for me is however the attack of Monday, I think it would be appropriate if Man Utd would win the cup tonight.
Ajax has quite a good squad, by far the most talented one of Holland, but they've been very vulnerable in away-games (they have lost all away-games in the knockout-stage this season). But that could also be because Ajax had already made a difference in the home-matches, and they're not good at handling that pressure (which won't be a problem tonight, since there's only one match). Hopefully Onana and Traore can play, it would truly be bad luck if they (and especially Onana) would miss the final.

After the events of the recent week. It would be nice if United got the win, the city and indeed the north of england needs it. Tonight for one night only im a United fan.

Also my ex is from Amsterdam so screw her and her pefectly giant ass.

I don't think Carrick offers more creativity than Herrera. He does give us a better shot of playing possession football in the middle of the park, whereas Fellaini may represent a better chance of beating Ajax's press. I'd rather Fellaini start this game.
I see Herrera as more valuable for his defensive game, he can create (that great pass for Rashford against Chelsea for example) but I don't think that's what Mou asks him to do. Carrick has a superior passing range than either and will take pressure off our makeshift defense. I don't trust Fellaini receiving the ball under pressure and, given the 5 second press, he will have to do that a lot.

Curious to hear why Fellaini would represent a better chance of beating Ajax's press give he is about as immobile as Carrick and can't really function as a get out ball if in CM?

That's nice of you to say. Although I expect you'd be burnt at the stake if you said that on RAWK.

The theory is the keeper will just kick it over their midfield and by-pass the press straight to Fellaini. I think we did it against Liverpool. Romero's kicking is shite compared to De Gea though.

    While we're waiting
IIRC we didn't play well in either leg of that tie

EDIT: Totally didn't realise that squad had Vertonghen and Blind in it as well, didn't actually realise Vertonghen and Alderweireld played together at club level before Spurs either. Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Blind that squad actually had a lot of good players in it

The most frustrating thing about Mourinho is that we all feel this is the match to really go for the jugular, but I have this nagging feeling that he will come out and let them possess the ball. We should impose ourselves on them and dictate the pace of the match, not the other way around.
