    Know The Opposition

Arsenal Football Club (also known as The Gunners), are a professional football club based in Holloway, London. In late 1886, a gaggle of workers from the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory decided to form a football team. They called themselves Dial Square as a reference to the sundial atop the entrance to the factory. On December 11, 1886, Dial Square romped to a 6-0 victory over Eastern Wanderers; the first game in their initial guise. Shortly afterwards the name ‘Royal Arsenal’ was adopted. Today, Arsenal are one of the most successful and popular clubs in the history of the English league, with a trophy haul than includes 13 League titles, 12 FA Cups, and 2 League Cups.

When Henry Norris decided that Arsenal needed a new manager in the summer of 1925, he could never have anticipated the impact of his next appointment. After flirting with relegation in the previous season, Chapman set about reinventing the Club with almost immediate effect, and in a broader sense helped move football from the amateur era into a professional one. In his first season at Highbury, the new manager steered the Gunners to an FA Cup Quarter Final and a second-place finish in the First Division; the highest league placing in their history. And unlike many of his contemporaries in Britain, Chapman was a fan of the continental game and counted among his friends Hugo Meisl and Jimmy Hogan, coaches of the Austrian Wunderteam of the 1930s.

In the mid '90s, they appointed another visionary in Arsène Wenger with former vice-chairman David Dein bringing him to the club in 1996 - Dein actually wanted to appoint him a year earlier before Bruce Rioch but the old school board did not want a foreign manager - and the next 20 years have been a remarkable and unforgettable period in the club’s history - with Arsenal building a reputation for playing an attractive, streamlined style of football that rivals some of the best teams in Europe while winning three league titles and seven FA Cups and boasting the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pirès, Cesc Fàbregas and Robin Van Persie in their ranks.

The club plays its home games at the Emirates Stadium, and has a bitter sporting rivalry with neighbors Tottenham Hotspur in a match termed the North London Derby, apart from a competitive rivalry against the other major clubs of the Premier League, especially Manchester United — in an affair that peaked in the late 1990s to early 2000s period.

We need reinforcements for this one. Not convinced we're leaving North London with anything otherwise.

Looking forward to this. We’re getting better game by game while they seem to have stood still a little bit.
    I’m thinking 1-1

Desperately need some legs in midfield or they are going to walk right through us and it won't be pretty.

If we can fluke a draw I'll be delighted and 7 points would be a decent return on those four games considering how poor we've been going into the international break.

We need to be on it right from the whistle, can't afford to start poorly as we did today as if they got 2 early goals it's looking like a humiliating scoreline.

Both teams are nothing to crow about atm, think Assna will edge it because we are dogturd away from home but it won’t be a demolition job.

Did anyone watch them today? Dropping points at home to Fulham is a good sign for us. Hopefully they were crap. If we can manage to keep calm and concentrated we have a chance to get at least a draw. Tall ask though with the way we've looked up to now.

They’ve been under par this season so far. Their midfield is still gelling and Partey at RB is a huge problem for them
This game is Rashford v Partey. If Rashford comes out on top then we get a result imo

He wasn't moving well all that well after he went down, and the way things have been going for us lately, it just wouldn't surprise me if he was added to the ever-growing list of injured players.

Assuming no transfers has to be same team again I suppose.

I wouldn’t be against Lindelof coming in for Dalot though.

Like to think we have bought in a midfielder by then but doubt it.

    3-0 or 3-1 Arsenal.

They’ve got a lot more quality in the final third than what we’ve faced so far. Combine that with our away form against the big guns and it’s gonna be tough.

With how the squad looks right now, I'd continue playing Dalot as the right fullback. Saka is a tricky winger, but he likes to go inside a lot, so hopefully Dalot can do a good job. I'd also play Antony on the left side, helping Dalot defensively - but also because I think he could be a good left-sided winger.
Rashford as a striker, with possibly Sancho beside him and Bruno on the right side. Playing it more like a 4-4-2 system.

I don't really like Bruno on the right side, but I'd at least start the game like that.
If Hojlund is fit to start - I'd start him together with Rashford.

Shaw out against his best friend is probably a blessing in disguise. Unfortunately for us, his replacement isn't much better.

A good time for United to be visiting the Emirates.

A good time for Arsenal to play United.

    Something has to give.

During ole's 3-2 wins in September and October 2021 where Ronaldo scored a few, everyone highlighted that winning the game in such a way masks the main issue and the mask will come off against a big team and we went and lost 0-5 to Liverpool.

Expecting Arsenal to do something similar.

Hojlund debut? he may help turn around our season and show that we can challenge for title. Will be very competitive match.
    Debut for Amrabat, hopefully.
Hojlund will get 30 minutes at most realistically and we may be out of the game by that point. If Amrabat did sign in time, he's barely kicked a ball this season so won't even be match ready, a 2nd half sub at best.

It's a shame because I don't think Arsenal are in particularly impressive form so if we had a full team and were in decent form I might fancy us. But Arsenal will have a field day with us given how fragile we look, and the injuries on top.

Arsenal look incredibly fragile and have a lot of injuries as well.
Partey v Rashford.. hopefully Ten Hag doesn’t make his Anfield mistake here as well

Draw and it’s been an ok start.

Win and it’s been a bloody great start.

Plus the mini break for internationals afterwards will hopefully see a few lads back from injuries.

    Happy Days!

I fear this could be an absolute hammering if we play these suicidal high press, non existent, midfield tactics again. They’ll cut through us like we’re not there. Which basically, we’re not. If Wolves, Spurs & Forrest could walk through us with ease then I dread to think what the likes of Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Trossard etc could do. Sadly, I think ETH is too stubborn to play a more conservative team and will put out the exact same team as today.

    4-0.

A draw, even a 0-0, will be an excellent result. We have to score though. Keeping Clean sheets seem to be beyond us at the moment

Literally was holding hands against him last season. Weirdest performance from Shaw ever. He was shit scared of him.
