If there is a debate that Mason Mount is a very good football player then I would imagine those arguing that he isn't have probably not watched very much of him.
It’s been a debate since the moment he was linked with us for a crazy fee so not sure why you’re seemingly surprised.

He’s a good player , I guess, but he’s also been out of form or injured for about 18 months now, and been mostly meh when he played for us, and our manager has no idea how to use him. If he was fit he wouldn’t even be starting right now.

I see him as a useful squad player if he can stay fit going forward, but far from a transformative player who we miss dearly when absent.

The Spurs one was a real sickener. And was hoping Newcastle - our main rivals below us - might drop points having been pegged back twice away at Forest.

They were the big two for me, and both went wrong. West Ham and Brighton losing are the positives, but would have preferred Brighton holding out for a draw rather than Spurs' late winner, so even that wasn't 'good'.

We will finish above Newcastle, Brighton, West Ham and Aston Villa.

Spurs are our rivals for top 4.

This is a genuine 6 pointer - Villa win and they're 11 points ahead and Utd will never catch that up. But if Utd win then it's down to 5 and top-4 is within reach for Utd. It's a big match for both and I predict 2-3 win for Utd.

I think the main debate came from the fact that he primarily plays in the same position as our best player, Captian and we had a lot of holes to fill in our team.

If you look at the statement "Mason Mount is a very good football player" and disagree then you have not seen enough of him since he broke through.

He would not start because he plays in the same position as our best player and one of the best players in that position in the world.

He’s a’ight. Don’t think he’ll be ever anything more than a good squad option for us. Was never overly impressed by him at Chelsea. We massively overpaid for an injury prone player we didn’t really need.

Hes a very good player, that can be backed up by statistics or just watching him.

Haven't Maguire and Varane been the CB pair for a couple of the away thumpings we've taken over the last 2-3 seasons?

Best line up we could have gone with. Hopefully our attacking players keep up the good form

Imagine posting a SCOOP four minutes before the teams are announced and getting it wrong anyway.

Massive bluffer account and always has been. No idea why people still read/share it.

Best we have minus Martinez. The big plus of not having midweek games is you never need to rotate... Hope we can show consistency on performance too.

Didn't realise Konsa was out for them, so that's forced them to pick a pretty aggressive backline. Should be a lot of space for Rashford and Garnacho behind Cash and Moreno.

It's nice to finally have the luxury of fairly consistent lineups.

Oh I agree but catching up 10 odd points with 16 planes to go isn’t that big of a hurdle. We are all much of a muchness

Nah, a defeat today would have us 11 points behind Villa, which is effectively 12 with our crappy GD. It's already a stretch with a win, all but over if we lose here.

    No Martinez is gutting.

I like shaw at cb but we lose something on the left - seems to make rashford toothless. Probably worth bracing ourselves with Maguire at centre back.

I’m actually glad Maguire is playing instead of the obsession with playing a left footer at CB to the detriment of the team, seeing as it wasn’t serving us well at all.

He was a very good football player at one time, and I struggle to understand why people can’t acknowledge that.

Whether he can stay fit for long enough to get an opportunity to return to being one is open to question. I very much hope that he can.

Villa fans not about with their defence so we really need to take it to them

I would have picked Antony instead of Rashford but it is expected lineup.

Looking forward Hojlund working hard and scoring 2 goals.

With the high line they play we should have some joy attacking wise. Never confident defensively without Martinez.

Expecting Villa players (after their rest on Wed night!) To come out and play like men possessed. If we had the passing capability to to cut through their high defensive line I'd be optimistic but invariably our own players contrive to concede goals from unthreatening attacks. Without Martinez it'll be even more difficult to see out the first 20 min.

Bad feeling about this one. Villa are wobbling a little but it’s the perfect fixture for them to get back on track. I think we will lose unfortunately.

We joke about first real tests but this is a massive one for ETH. Other than Martinez and the other M, we have no real injuries and are facing a must win or at the very least mustn’t lose against a tough side.

No point winning against Wolves and WH only to lose today in a bad way.
