This game should be a formality….

Brentford squad value being a fraction of Utd’s.

Several Utd players are individually paid more than Brentford’s entire squad.

Utd squad packed full of internationals, etc etc…

On paper a Utd loss would seem unthinkable ….there again wouldn’t be at all surprised if Utd get stuffed!

Why do I have a feeling we are going to witness another dull game from the United side.. Brentford are a fast team who play very good football. We generally don't play as well against teams that press well and are especially good with the ball. I think we'll concede first and play the whole game under pressure. Just hoping to be wrong. Sincerely.

I have no idea what to expect anymore. No idea who will show up or who won't. I have zero expectations anymore. Need these 3 points bigly though.
And this is the problem we have - we are so damn unpredictable. We don't know what formation we will play or how our players will play.
We can win 3-0 or get beat.
Even in our last match, in the first half we were pretty decent, but in the second half we turned to junk. This may be because our players are unfit and they got tired after 45 minutes of playing football (quite shocking when you think about it).
IMO, Ralf needs to insist that the players play his way and make no compromises. Otherwise, we'll just be seeing more Ole-ball.

All a bunch of hokum. Football is not about money, it is all about the hearts.

    -----------------DDG
    Dalot Lindelof Varane Shaw
    ---------------Jones
    ------Bruno----------Fred
    Sancho----------------------Martial (Elanga)
    --------------Ronaldo

    4-3-3

If Matic ready to go then him instead of Jones.
Elanga deserves another start to be honest, but I want to see Martial as well.

Will and desire are important, but ultimately, the richest teams tend to buy the best players, pay them well and those teams tend to win the big trophies.

I fancy seeing Jones just in front of the back 4.

I think RR will go for the below:

    DDG

    AWB Varane Maguire Shaw

    McFred + Bruno

    Greenwood CR7 Sancho

not sure though how the midfield will be lined-up.

Watched the Aston Villa away game again

    Greenwood was worse than I thought initially;

his selfish greedy shots second half when the better option was pulling the ball back for Cavani to make it 3-0 and game over

both the goals for Aston Villa came down his side

In the second half when we are under pressure (after facing a corner) you can see Matic (camera caught it clearly) shouting at Greenwood to tuck in and not go so far forward. Which he of course ignores... which is what Ronaldo was talking about in his interview about young players arrogantly thinking they know it all and ignoring the experienced pros

it doesn't matter who plays in Midfield for Manchester United when you have wide players like Greenwood and Rashford who don't keep the shape when we don't have the ball. Even Bruno is guilty of it at times.

Rangnick needs to see the main problem with this team is the wingers not wanting to do the defensive work.

we can buy Haidara and Zaharia but they'll still have the same problems.. you can't defend with a 2-man midfield again an oppositions midfield 3 plus dealing with overloads from the oppositions full-backs and strikers.

i hope Rangnick wakes up and stops playing Greenwood and Rashford on the wings. They are the main problem in this team currently as they are not proper wingers. We need to be more compact.

we need experienced pro heads to get top 4.. I would even be tempted at playing Cavani on the wings like he did at PSG

I just hope we don't play Greenwood or Rashford in this game otherwise the midfield will be exposed again.
Good post.Neither Greenwood or Rashford are wingers. They are strikers playing on the wings.
    We are paying the price.

    Mctominay

    Greenwood Ronaldo Sancho
Something like this is my guess.

I think a 4-3-3 should suit us and is a good short-term fix. The only issue is that we don’t really have a suitable CDM other than Matic. I also think Bruno in a more disciplined 4-3-3 might be better for him and the team overall if he avoids the Hollywood passes. I would go with:

    De Gea

    Dalot Varane Jones Shaw

    Bruno Matic McT

    Mason Ronaldo Rashford

Oddly looking forward to this it’s an unusual midweek game and will fill my evening, though Brentford are a big physical team, may not be what is best for us right now. Will be a battle for 90 minutes we need to be up for it..

Looking forward to this one. I expect a win with goals. How long has it been since a Utd player scored a hatrick?

I just googled it, Ronaldo, but it was the first for a while.

We’ve had one this season. By United standards the next one won’t be until 23/24 season.

There is absolutely no way Jones has the stamina to to play DM from the start right now. Most likely line-up I think is:

    -----------------DDG
    Dalot Lindelof Varane Shaw
    -------------McTominay
    ------Bruno----------Fred
    Greenwood----------------Elanga
    --------------Ronaldo

I’d probably go with this as well, maybe Maguire for Lindelof given the physical nature of Brentford.

Bruno scored one against Leeds this season?

Looking forward to this one, I'm (un)reasonably optimistic and think we will see some progress in this game, based on the first 20 minutes against Villa.
    Hopefully Elanga will start again!

Typical United arrogance.. haven't we learnt our lesson yet that this current United team will struggle to beat even Middlesborough?!

City (who are more talented and work much harder than United) only won 1-0 at Brentford and people above are talking about United players scoring hat-tricks.. I don't get it! It's going to be a long night where the result is more important than the performance.

talent without hard work is nothing. Hard work beats talent when talent don't want to work. That's why Wimbledon always got shock results against the big boys as they big times took them for granted. At the end of the day It's 11 players vs 11 players on a cold wet Wednesday night everyone starts equal at 0-0.. anything can happen and if Brentford 11 players work harder on the day they win. If United players work hard like Brentford the talent will shine through and we win the game regardless of what Brentford do. Simple as that.

    No argument, agreed.

Now tell that to the useless overpaid muppets at Utd.
