Seems like this is because of Bailly on for Maguire against the most in form team in the league.

I know Rashy has missed a lot of the season so far, but when playing, what the heck has he done compared to what Ronaldo has been doing for UTD this season that means Ronaldo must be benched to accommodate Rashy in to our starting line-up???

Still hope we win especially as Chelsea are missing most of their best players.
Rashfords record against us is 1000x better than Ronaldo’s, like Hernandez and Tevez, he likes to score against us. Ronaldo has 1 in15 or something equally piss poor. But I can understand the pessimism.

Im not really sure why you say we are missing our best players for? Chalobah has been decent and so has Loftus-Cheek. Only hit/miss player is Ziyech but if he turns up he is capable of cutting anyone open.

Nah, that'd make Sancho play CF. Why would anyone do that? Makes much more sense to imitate Klopp and have Bruno playing Firmino and Rashford and Sancho as Mane and Salah, respectively.
Sancho and rashford will be playing as wide forwards to get in behind Chelsea wingbacks and stretch there back three. I would imagine anyway.

Donny came on Vs Watford and showed he can do everything McT can't, but McT keeps his place. Someone who can actually pass the ball and do something with it would be beneficial next to Fred's running and pressing.

Chelsea XI doesn't look too special either, but they're a much better unit than us.

People get very worked up on here because of a line up where no ball is to be kicked for another 45-60mins. Do they not like the way they step off the bus or what’s going on?

Not optimistic but I am hopeful. Really hope the desire is there and we see the boys trying to impress Ralf R.

I’m a bit miffed with Pulisic and Mount not playing. Very surprised by Mount as his pressing would cause significant problems.

I’m not as confident although that Man Utd midfield looks very defensive. It’s clearly set up for Fred and McT to combat our wingbacks without sacrificing the midfield which is where Matic will cover. It’s a tactic I haven’t seen against us yet in fairness.

    I think there's a decent chance it'll be a 5-3-2. That's been our go-to formation for the big teams.

    Rashford--Sancho

    Bruno
    Fred------------Matic

    Telles-----------------------------------------------AWB
    Bailly--Lindelof--McTominay

All you lot who claim Solskjaer has left us in a far better state than when he came need to take a long hard look at that starting 11. Deary me
So would you rather have Ashley Young, Phil Jones, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial starting today?

Carrick parking the biggest bus ever. That's a shocker of a line up, at least put Donny in for the useless McTominay. Easy day at the back from set pieces for Cheslea. Let's hope Ragnick will be in for Arsenal game as Carrick is just an Ole mk2 and should have gone with him.

Just thankful Chelsea are missing Kante.

Can't believe we are 10th going into this difficult game. Good news though, we may see Jones play again.

    Cue McTominay scoring then

4 -0 to Chelsea by HT.

Then we will bring Ronaldo on.

    What an idiotic lineup.

But if he wants that then why not put at least Donny in instead of Scott. I think the midfield will probably struggle a lot to keep the ball against Chelsea's players.
    Donny is highly error prone.

Is it a diamond or Bruno as false 9? Either way, at least it’s something different

I’m glad VDB isn’t starting today. With Kante out, Ruben won’t track back as well and VDB’s forward runs would have caused us problems today.

Not too sure about that lineup.

Very defensive. Would've played Donny over Mctominay.

The state of the club, as I see it, is summed up by the bench: Martial and Jones. wow :(

A good brave line-up. If there was ever a game to drop Ronaldo it was Chelsea away. Ronaldo was lost for most of Liverpool and City games anyway, that went well. Need numbers in midfield. Give Bruno the runners out wide.

No way. Why aren’t we playing that other really good midfielder we have.

    *checks bench*

Aren't they the same thing?

I somewhat agree in that I really don't know what to expect. I don't think we'll get battered, I'm hoping we'll at least be solid with that bolstered midfield but you never know, if we have one of those (all too often) matches where we literally can't pass the ball without losing it we have no chance whatsoever.

Not sure dropping Ronaldo is the right thing to do here unless he’s worked hard on getting Rashford, Sancho & Bruno to press as a unit. Someone’s going to have to step up with a goal or two.

No Donny as well, pretty shocking that one leaving McT in the team, he needs to up his game significantly, cause he’s been so poor this year.

RLC will just ghost past Matic, no way he’ll be left as sole DM. I think Fred will sit on Jorginho with McT and Matic behind.

People moaning about Ronaldo being on the bench obviously are ignorant to the fact that the guy is 37, just played a midweek game and would most likely start against Arsenal in 3 days time. It’s a squad game. He needs a rest.

Not sure how we’ll play. Is it a diamond? I’m not optimistic. Again we seem to be planning to park the bus. I also can’t see, again, who will link the lines together. It seems it’s going to be “pass the ball forward and let’s see of we can outpace them on a counter attack”. I don’t like that. Games like this are won in midfield where we have no creativity. VDB would’ve given that (maybe).

    Maybe.

It might also be a 433:

    DDG

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Telles

    Mctominay Fred Matic

    Rashford Bruno Sancho

You'd think the important players would get a rest in games against weaker opponents.

McT will be covering Alonso and Fred covering James. Matic will be central supporting the defence and McT and Fred will tuck in when the ball pis opposite side. I actually think this could be a clever tactic and our forwards will have to win us the game. James and Alonso won’t have as much space of this is the tactics.

Whatever are the Ronaldo fans going to say if we get a result with this lineup?...get your excuses in now...my favorite will be “Chelsea we’re there for the taking...with Ronaldo we would have smashed them”...

expect a high energy performance across the team and hopefully show we have a squad capable of performing and not just feeding the goat. a bit worried aboutTelles but anyway

Just hope we aren’t too narrow. It will really play into James’ hands who is basically Chelsea’s best player this season
