We absolutely have to attack them tonight, we'll get pummelled if we sit back and let them play football. We have to score enough goals tonight to make the away tie a formality, that's the only way we're going through.

I'm going 4-0 to United. It is the Theatre of Dreams after all...

Have they watched us at all in the last 6 years? When was the last time we scored a set piece?
It's possible a lot of continental teams just play us down, especially thinking Ole doesn't have a really smart tactical view on the game etc... I so hope Ole proves them wrong and beats them.

I think they're just trying to say we're physical and tall? Apart from that I have no idea what they're on about. It does feel like they're taking pity on us at the moment though with Pique saying things like 'United are the biggest team in England'.

    More of this please people.

I think we're in for one of those great European nights that Old Trafford is so famous for. Barca won't be able to live with us.

    4-1 to United.

Get ready for a 2003 Ronaldo style humbling. Messi is playing as well as he ever has been.

I already touched on it earlier. We get bullied from corners and set piece but it's just lazy cliche associated with English clubs. Ronaldo was moaning because we had the audacity to beat Juve from set piece-probably the only time we scored from one. Valverd said we're a 'powerful' and 'physical' team. They've already setting it up as battle between beautiful attacking football vs defensive ugly football. Get ready for some salty tears if we turned them over.

Looking forward to this game with expectation and trepdiation in almost equal measures, but the prospect of it going badly wrong just means I then think about the alternative, that United got battered by PSG in both legs in the last round and United fans are sitting watching all the QFs on TV trying to work out who they do/don't want to win this competition.
Under Mourinho United wouldn't, in all probability, be in the QFs.
Getting in to the SFs would clearly be a huge and unexpected bonus, but at the same time, the prospect of being soundly beaten in both legs with the tie even over before the second leg isn't a nice one.
Tonight, United need a huge performance and maybe Barcelona having a bit of an off night combined with a rub of the green so let's hope it turns out that way.
You have to be in it to win it.

Can only be positively surprised in this I guess.. Not sure Im for an all out attacking approach, but I hope we press and play direct.

That's the reputation we have thanks to Jose but PSG haven't helped with the amount of moaning about our football. I'm not bothered anyway as long as we win!

So Pogba shouldn't play either then? ;)
He lose the ball much more than Jesse, and work much less defensively.
Cannot compare the two. Totally different potential to influence the game.
Think they'll both start in fact so here's hoping they both play well.

As long as Old Trafford is rocking and we're attacking, Barcelona won't be able to handle the occasion.
I'm hoping for an atmosphere similar to when Real Madrid last visited in 2013. Old Trafford was on absolutely rocking that night.

    Shame about the result, though.

Whatever the score, I hope we put in a performance that shows the players want to give everything they can when playing for United and us the fans.
Over two legs that may still not be enough, but that's the minimum I expect.

Can't wait, if a player in a United shirt cannot motivate himself for this match, he should take up Morris Dancing instead.

You really think Barcelona players would not be able to handle a rocking Old Trafford? There isn't a stadium in the world that would intimidate them.
Jesus. Can we have a separate match day thread for the miserable ones? It's a big CL night and we're not exactly Huddersfield Town. Why do you guys even watch football if you can't believe in your team even before a ball has been kicked?

Pretty sure the current Barcelona team have seen it all before, for club and country, a great atmosphere will probably help our players. but would be surprised if rattled the Barcelona players.

Let's have a right go at these feckers and get the crowd going, the lack of confidence in here gives me good hope for a good result. The over confidence of the PSG game has hopefully hit home. That barca defense can been hurt if the tempo is right.

Apparently this is the leaked team to start against Barca.

De Gea - Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw - Dalot, Fred, McTominay, Pogba - Rashford, Lukaku.

Quietly happy with that. 4-4-2 whilst defending, 4-3-3 when going forward. Pretty much the best we could've hoped for.

Here is the team the 'leaker' the MEN uses has posted:

Note: His leaked lineups have been rubbish since Ole took charge so wouldn't read too much into it.

Barcelona has never won at Old trafford,i think they might do it tonight.
Our best players is in poor form, our home form is poor and we are missing players.
This could get ugly,i just hope our players dont freeze and play their heart out tonight and give 110%!

You missed my point. I think OT will be rocking and I think we can win. I don't think the atmosphere will get to Barcelona.

    Dalot - Fred - McTominay - Pogba in a midfield 4?

Surely that's not the setup we're going with.
