Agree with this one. Let's get at them and try to get Gomes and Greenwood off and running.

vs counter attacking team, dunno how we gonna break their bus and break them again because even if we get a lead, doubt they will chang their ways, they will probably stick to it as long as possible on 1:0 and then try to do something.
We can let them attack us periodically and finish them with our fast counterattack. We have better defence now.

Ole failed his first real test. Need a prolonged winning streak to repair the damage.
Seriously? XD I didn't know Wolverhampton is considered a better team than Chelsea.

A lot of very very good to take from the Wolves game, 1st half Wolverhampton barely were allowed to touch the ball. And again, this team will give all top6 sides problems. Can't even be mad about the 1-1 goal, that was a thing of beauty, lucky lucky strike.

I'm dissapointed we didnt win 3-0, but this team is so much better than last years. Crystal Palace are going to have a very bad time at Old Trafford

This looks like the perfect game to start both Greenwood and Gomes. We’ve virtually got no one else to try. Both those lads did excellent in pre-season.

    De Gea

    Wan-Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    McTominay
    Pogba

    Greenwood
    Gomes
    Rashford

    Martial

    subs:
    Romero
    Dalot
    Tuanzebe
    Fred
    Pereira
    Lingard
    James

    Score prediction:
    Manchester United 3-0 Crystal Palace

We've just played the best team in the league that employs this method and we dominated them for 80 minutes. It took a wonder strike, a missed pen and some very poor refereeing for them to snatch a draw at home where they haven't lost in half a year.

Weak links? wow. Can you explain how Dan James was the weak link?

Numerous ball recoveries, runs in behind.
Weak link might be too strong, so just meant more that he was severely lacking in end product. I would prefer Greenwood from the start because he’s clearly the more naturally gifted of the two.

My first (competitive) match at Old Trafford, super excited!

I'm coming from London, let me know if anyone wants to meet for a drink!

I'm confident we'll win comfortably without impressing, if that makes any sense? Palace will park the bus, we'll be comfortable at the back but will struggle to create - we'll take a few chances though and the scoreline will look impressive. One change, Pereira for James. Not what I want, what I think Ole wants.

SUBS - Mata (Pereira), James (Lingard), Greenwood (Martial)

    Man United 3 - 0 Crystal Palace
    Maguire, Rashford, own goal.

I don't know what that is. I'm coming by train mate.

It's the Manchester Utd London Association. They meet at Euston. I've been going up with them for over 30 years.

I would like greenwood to start. I think James like lingard has questionable end product but James for now atleast, can be seen as a decent defensive option if we lose possession. When we are going for it, I think Mason would be better as we may struggle for goals at times.

Seeing a lot of shouts for Greenwood and Gomes to play.. maybe when they get a few protein shakes in them, because physically they’re nowhere near ready to play Premier League football

Greenwood starting and Gomes on the bench would be fantastic. Hope we see that.

im looking to see a different set of players/tactics against a team that will clearly be sitting back. Would absolutely love to see gomes at some point, but doubt we do. Not sure who else has as much creativity after pogba than gomes. I will be very perturbed to see lingard and james starting against a team like palace.

Fred for Lingard with Pogba at AMC. If Pogba makes the pen and Man Utd are at the top of the table, I doubt many would be replacing D. James. The kid ran his socks off in both attack and defense.

Fred hasn't played a minute of pre-season, he hasn't even been mentioned in these "behind closed doors" games.

    No way he starts.

I don't think Gomes or Greenwood would start because of the behind doors game but would love Gomes to play in a 3 with Pogba and McTominay. It might be too offensive but with James and Wan Bissaka on the right helping Gomes it should be fine. I don't think we should mess with the front 3 too much. They need to gel with each other and their fullbacks.

I think it is more to do with the balance of the team. Having Greenwood, Martial and Rashford on the pitch will open us defensively and we will lack width.

Yet LVG and Mourinho played him. Maybe it’s something fans are not seeing.
Not as a regular starter though. He started on an average 18-19 league games in a season, which is good for a rotation/back up player. He shouldn't a regular starter.

Would like to see Gomes in for Lingard at number 10 but it just isn't going to happen. So I will settle for the same team as against Wolves, but James replaced by Greenwood

I'd like to see Fred come in. We need to assess other midfield options, best do it at home to a defensive side like this.

Would be great to see Greenwood too, I really don't see why we shouldn't play him. He's more likely to get a goal than James or Lingard would be.

Lingard should be dropped. Dogshit performances like Monday shouldn’t be tolerated when you’ve got lads like Gomes and Chong who have performed in pre-season.

We will win this with ease Palace look real slow and sluggish, I would like 5-0 but 3-0 is more likely.
Get Lingard benched and give Greenwood or Gomes their chance. Would like to bench Shaw for this match as well.
