Well we have been hampered by couple of players not having been available due to isolation, but this is woeful and to me not much of a surprise seeing that starting line up.

Why are any fans happy for us not to sign a centre back? Lindelof is just so damn average, really not a United player. Also why on earth are we starting with Mensah at right back, why do none of these managers not realise he isnt a fricking fullback and if we are looking at signing a left back why isnt WIlliams starting at right back or even Dalot over Mensah?

Can also see why we should be signing a defensive midfielder. If Matic is out we just dont have one. Pogba is yet again proving he is consistently far too sloppy to ever be world class and Fernandes sadly is showing the same form from the end of the season when he looked tired.

More than anything though you can see the need for Sancho. Daniel James is out of his depth in the premiership let alone our club. He has nothing apart from pace to play at this level, everything else isnt good enough, our scouts should be shot. Not only that though, on the other side we have a very inconsistent player that when he isnt at the top of his game....is pants. Rashford has a lot of talent, but really....is he that good? If we had Sancho, for me it would be Rashford benched and Greenwood on the flank.

All this game is showing, is the obvious. If we dont get the magic from Fernandes, we struggle. This first eleven is still 2 or maybe 3 player short, out squad is deep....but no tin quality.

Seriousoly wtf is going on Rojo, Smalling, Jones, Mata, Pereirra all still here and one player signed. Still the same by close of window....same old story.....year after qualifying for cl....we wont, no top four with this lot as things stand, Fernandes wont be consistently as effective as he was the first 3months he was here last season, he is a very good player but he isnt the Cantona type talent that he had the effect on us of last season

Ole asks for Haland, Sancho, Bellingham. He gets Ighalo on the bench, James, Mctomiany/Matic/Fred/other meh players.
Yeh. This team obviously need Sancho to beat Crystal Palace. At home.

Team is stacked with mediocre players unfortunately.

Well......if this is what it takes to get 2 new improved players (god knows we need more then that)....i'm all for it.

Leave James on the right the whole game, leave Lindelof and TFM on....

Lose the opening game of the season on purpose.

(I'm just delusioning myself that THAT is what Ole is doing)

Our management must be the worst in the league. We have no good plan to break teams down.
Everyone knew Palace would defend deep.

All told we have been really bad. We need to bear in mind Palace got started last week, but that alone shouldn't excuse some of the poor defending, the abysmal passing and the total lack of awareness that men are closing us down in possession. We've been poor all over the pitch so I'll cling onto some small positives; Martial has looked quite sharp on a couple of occasions and I can see Bruno at least trying to make something happen on the edge of the box (a good throughball to TFM in the box was a rare highlight).

It can't get much worse in truth, so hopefully the general level improves in the second half and Ole bucks his trend with a couple of earlyish subs (Mason and vdB would be nice.)

Agreed, he's so quietly quality. Looks far more threatening than Rashford, who is continuing the end of season 'winger that doesn't shoot, dribble or cross' form.
Rashford has been atrocious for some time now. Scores a couple of goals now and then which papers over his dreadful performances. Turns up once every 4 games.

More moments of joy watching Snoop Dogg’s Just Eat advert than watching that fecking embarrassment. Hope the players enjoyed their fecking summers. I enjoyed them more when they weren’t around Old Trafford too.

Van de Beek looked like he wanted to cry when the camera panned onto him. Hope he is not having any Alexis thoughts

Just think in that squad currently there is the best part of one million pounds A WEEK being pissed up the wall on players who are not good enough to make the squad, or cant be trusted to play anything more than a handful of minutes.

And we complain that the Glazers wont invest when the money they HAVE invested has been wasted on utter shite.

I would tell Woodward and Ole to feck off when they came with the begging bowl for money as well to be honest.

Pogba looks wasted playing that deep, this team on paper shpuld steamroll palace. Really bad game management and tactics. Greenwood has to come on, sancho has to be signed.

Its just sooo obvious this Utd team barely gets any coaching from game to game but excuses are always about quality of players. Its my biggest criticism of Ole, he is no coach and his teams play like it!
It's both right. We know Ole is nothing special but he isn't awful either. The starting 11 is solid enough with some gaps, but the first backups everywhere apart from the midfield 3 are horrendous. Today an example. Greenwood and Wan Bissaka not there and you have 2 players who likely wouldn't start for any other premier league side.

What had happened to Rashford. Confidence is shot.

Lots of hate for James but Rashford was worse.

The defense needs a major shakeup. This cannot be the United defense for the rest of the season - we will be ripped to shreds by proper sides.
I don't see anyone who gets a good rating in the first half - didn't create one meaningful chance with all that possession. The only positive is that most of the play was in the Palace half.

Solskjaer's got to take a lot of blame for that performance. Going on about how important it is to get a good start in the presser, then he starts two championship level-players (at best) on the right, that's never played a competitive game together. McT in midfield in games like this is just no point, can't pass for shit.

For all the brickbats aimed at james etc, we still have a much better team on paper than palace. The difference is in the coaching.
No, it's in match fitness and sharpness. We were literally the best team for the last 15 games or so last season.

We are sluggish but we'l improve with game time.

That’s absolute knee jerk rubbish, both Fred and Matic were very good for extended runs of games last season.
Great, Matic had a good month after years of disappointment. I'm still delighted that resulted in got a long term extension.

As for Fred, he had a couple of very good games, but the bar set for him is far too low.

    There's only one United!
People are in denial about this. He's there because good coaches won't come to fight for fourth place. And that's the job.
    agree with this.
The Glazers, ED & Judge are happy if we fight for 4th place and nothing else!

Trash. We could do with an entire new back 4 in all honesty, and the performances from our front 3 has been forgettable.

Honest question: who has had a good first half?

I'm struggling to think of names. We seem totally unprepared for this. Palace look far more ready than we are, mentally more than anything.

Can't Ole simply ban James from shooting? That might then force him to look up and see other options.

Really? He played worse than this. Truthfully he is not very good player. Squad player at best.
Mctominay isn't good enough to be anywhere near this club. Being Scottish and a a youth product doesn't qualify you to be good enough. It's a blatant over-estimation of his abilities and will hurt us for years. A player of his quality wouldn't last 2 mins in actual foot balling sides.

That wasn't a great start to the season. Look on the bright side it can only get better from here on in.

Looking slow all over the pitch. Second to every ball. United look like they are still on holiday.

It doesn't matter how much possession we have , we just look so toothless going forward , Palace have made far more out of their limited possession and if anything probably should be two ahead.

A lot of the lack of urgency we saw in the first half of last season is on view again , we are playing like we would be happy to take a 0 - 1 defeat and move on to the next game.

Can someone anyone step up and replace Lindelof this season. He's just a liability every single game.
