Superb first 25 mins. We should have at least been 2-0 up in that period of Elanga took his chance. Sancho’s goal was a thing of real beauty not just from Jadon himself but the whole build-up. Liverpool then began to come into the game but I didn’t feel anyway threatened when they did. Defence are having a having a fine game.

If we can repeat the performance of that opening half an hour and grab a 2nd then what a confidence booster that will give everyone.

Best half hour we've had this season. I hope ETH makes the right changes.

The fight, the effort, the challenges. This is what we ask for win lose or draw. Martinez and Malacia top draw. The front 3 outstanding. McTominay having a great game

Varane and Martinez have been absolutely sensational.
martinez defends as if his life depends on it. Varane leading the back four is way more calming than harry leading them. Varane covering well across the back. Malacia playing really well, i think at some point he was shouting at elanga to come back defend. Dalot, surprisingly, playing well too.

love the energy in the team

Started amazing, best I've seen us start in ages. Lost momentum last 15 but still solid. We should have scored 2 or 3. My biggest worry that half was the corners though - David has no command of his box and every long ball is a worry. We have to come out firing - if we can get another goal we can hopefully finish them on the counter. Crowd has been phenomenal and also good to hear the Glazers Out chants. Please keep going!!

Some pride restored. Need to regroup or I cant see us not conceding. Whatever happens the team have shown some fight, even Rashford has looked better

Rashford doesn't even do enough work off the ball to justify how poor he has been on the ball.
I agree with this. He's not working hard off the ball, letting players pass him by. He ought to compensate his inability on the ball for extra hard work.

Think other than scoring (quite brilliantly) Sancho needs to do more. We can’t afford to carry people in a game like this (unless they score us goals I guess!) and he needs to involve himself a bit more.

What you want to see from any United team in opening 30 mins. Energy, fight, intensity and no silly individuals errors.

Liverpool had their purple patch since then and United have defended well apart from Bruno trying to score for them.

The tricky part is keeping it going for the 2nd half and bench bench impact will likely be key.

Passing of the torch 17-18 years later?
Roy forgot to hand the torch on. Obvious explanation for our midfield problems in recent times. Found it under the stairs tonight, passed it on to Casemiro, problem solved. It's not rocket science, Samid.

Miraculous performance really given everything, but it's looking like it might not be enough. Worried that we're clinging on a bit

Loving the look of Martinez and Malacia

Best we have played in ages. My only fear is that we over paced a bit and will run out of steam pretty soon.
Luckily we made it to half time 1-0 up so that all that hard work paid off. If Liverpool scored after all our hard work their heads might have dropped.

15 minute breather came at just the right time.

Good defensive performance from all the back four. Need to have more control in midfield - McTominay done we'll to make it hard for Liverpool to pass around him. Eriksen I feel needs to get closer to his man. Too much of a passenger.

Excellent half, should be more than one up. Martinez absolutely at home in this type of game, controlled aggression, not intimidated and quality on the ball, allows Varane to be the sweeper of the pair, which he is more comfortable being. Malacia getting up and down with great energy, not quite as convincing defensively but doing enough.

Eriksen and McT have been good, good discipline and positional play, forwards need to keep targeting TTD and VVD is playing as if he is half asleep.

Ten Hag has to use the subs at the right time, Fred to keep the energy up in the midfield and the right attackers to keep the intensity high.
Fred is a cert to come on but is it mct or eriksen that comes off?

I love Varane, bringing some much needed calmness and command at the back that half to compliment Martinez's tenacity perfectly

Every one of those scouse players is going to smell Klopp's breath during the break. Hope we come out with energy in the second half.

I am happy with every player today. It’s been a proper team effort. Last 10 mins were difficult but apart from that crazy Bruno moment restricted any chances

Sad to see people are still down on some of the players out there today

Martinez has been a monster. Quality on the ball and always aware of the danger.

We need to try and keep the ball more, we can't sit back and hope for 45 min. Someone will feck up, inevitably.

The only negative for me now is no one is going to want Ronaldo seeing how much he effects a teams pressing ability

Can't fault the commitment, we just need to take care of the ball a little better because we started to turn it over to them too easily, hopefully we can keep this level of effort up and we don't drop off a cliff in the second half, subs will be important.

If Van Dijk has the half Martinez just had, Tyler, Carragher and Neville are on their knees in the centre circle waiting to take turns licking his arsehole.

    Haven't even mentioned Martinez.
Carragher said right before HT that he was having a really good game.

1-0 up against Liverpool and people calling for half-time subs. I can see some players haven't been quite as good as others, but we're 1-0 up, not sure we should be resorting to anything that could impact the momentum and mood of the players. Keep them going.

Liverpool will come out like a tonne of bricks in the second half. Id be bringing on Martial for Rashford.

Still though very promising first half hour. But i think this ends in a draw.

How is Rashford? I only saw a few minutes and he was the same as before. How can he let VVD beat him for pace? Then at the corner flag he tried to dribble past two players and lost it as usual.
