A proper Manchester United captain should lead by example. Ashley Young is no captain material, even though I like his heart.
He absolutely leads by example and did so again tonight. He chased every ball, never shied out of a single tackle and put in 100%. That’s what the captain must do first and foremostly. He doesn’t have to be the most talented.

He must be competent in the position he plays firstly. He was an atrocious RB in the first half and contributed to our shambles at the back. We need a better captain than that.

Who would you pick as captain. I don't think there's anyone who stands out as captain material in the squad.

We don't have a Keane, a Terry or a Ramos style character. So Jose turns to experience and those who, while not always the best, always go for it, always fight.

If Jose makes it through the season, and I hope he does (because it means he's got us back on track) then I hope in the summer he can add a leader, or better yet, find one in the current crop.

Today, the second half showed that we have players who can lead by example.

Old Trafford singing Jose Mourinho made me cringe. It's like they haven't seen the football they're paying for.
Yeah it's almost as if the match going fans actually support their team through good times and bad. What a bunch of cnuts.

Far better to whine and moan about everything like a spoiled entitled brat just because United are going through tough times.

None of the outfield players is reliable enough to be captain. So I would rather De Gea get it for now. I was among the first on here to advocate for Pogba being captain. I was wrong, badly.

I had a birtday party and checked the score.. 2-0 down. Ive never stopped watching a United game before it ended but i was kinda glad i didnt have to endure watching a 2-0 down with another 45 minutes hoping for a comeback but seeing that hope being crushed (like last week) all while watching terrible football.

And exactly this game there is actually a Fergie style comeback and i miss it... :(

    Birthdayparty was alright though.

Better to sing about the players who actually made the difference instead of the manager who will never be able to have us playing good football, and didn't do so yesterday either.

We were extremely lucky we got away with a win at home against a bottom team with his team selections and tactics hampering us.

Sorry to puncture your illusions but it's not spoiled to want to see good football.

If you're just turning up and applauding, no matter what happens on the pitch, you're hurting the club rather than helping it.

It's good to see the players are still trying for him. If we keep playing like that then all the doubters will get behind him and the toxicity will stop.

Why though? Until the technical players turned up the notch, we were heading towards a similar ending like in the last few matches we have had.
It was the “thrown players under the bus” like Mata, Martial, Pogba...he’s done no such thing...

How many times has Martial started and done nothing...how many times has Pogba looked like he can’t be bothered...

    It’s just lazy rhetoric
