Does a draw v Wolfsburg get us through on the head to head, or does it go to goal difference ?
If we draw and PSV win We'll have 9 points and Wolfsburg and PSV would have 10. If we lose then PSV only need to draw to go through on the head to head against us.

We either need to win or hope for a favor off of CSKA.

That was a fecking disgraceful half of football

Rooney, Blind and Smalling the only ones who go away from that with any bit of dignity.
First half decent, second pathetic. All in all, poor as.
That was so robotic and lifeless, jesus christ
That was our worst half of football all season.

    Shocking stuff.
Here here to all of the above

First half we had a decent start, I don't know what the feck that second half was...

    No one showing
    No one moving
Even with the ball just standing still, absolute joke, you can't even call that shit robotic

Why did schniederlin play the 90 he was particularly shocking

2s and 3s all round, don't know how the average rating it at a five, smalling ddg might get away with a 6 as there wasn't really much they could do, lingard for his first half maybe

Worst half of football I can recall by a mile

End of the line here i guess.
With a performance like that plus pressure/nerves we'll get smashed at Wolfsburg. 1 home-point from PSV and that's it.

I doubt we will get smashed, we are defensively sound. The biggest issue we've got is we aren't creating chances to win football matches.

Martial isn't a striker, he's a wide attacker and it shows in and around the penalty area. Regarding the two midfielders, I don't think we need the two holding players in Europe.

The most sickening thing is that today we celebrate the memory of one of the Best players that ever been in football, who could light up the stadium with his magic and on a day like that Manchester United looked totally flat and clueless in attack. Completely inept with players hardly able to beat their man. It's just so so sad. You know i would have taken a 3-3, even 2-3 which would be worse in terms of points but at least we would have seen a proper football.

It looks like the players have over trained at times this season. To run out of energy that early in the second half is amazing. As someone mentioned, it looks like they have run a marathon before the game. I think the lack of energy leads to the lack of quality. The same team with the same tactics on another day will play a heck of a lot better - we've seen it already.

You just don't know this season whether the team are going to turn up with enough energy and desire to win a game, because the quality is there and I don't think they are being hampered by tactics, despite what anyone thinks of the Fellaini substitution. Going forward, I think a fit team will beat Leicester this weekend and go and do the job away at Wolfsburg.

Gave up when Fellaini came on.
Killed the game. Cocu out done LVG twice now, it was so obvious that VG would resort to Fellaini and all he had to do to nullify him was bring on another defender. Taking off Bastian was the same as shooting yourself in the foot and Rooney - don't even let me go there. My patience with VG is running thin. Right now I'd take any manager who'd prioritise getting rid of Rooney and Fellaini then any manager with the highest pedigree. What ever happened to the UTD that relied on movement, this team is some robotic and static its unbelievable, having watched Arsenal play yesterday, were an average team at best.

Feck it, if the players and manager don't give a shit why should we?
Players, managers, even owners and directors are coming and going. It's the fans who always stay. You take any club, fans are the only real constant, they are like an essence of the football club. So "United till i die" is the only way.

Rooney was not good, but he was way better than Depay, Martial and Lingard.

    There's only one United!
Unfortunately we were too SLOW and it was easy for PSV to contain us.

To top it all Martial is playing as a lone striker with no help at all from anyone - again it's easy for opposition to mark Martial in that way.

The thing is we are nearly unable to score 2 or 3 goals in a match. Wolfsburg at home means attack attak attack, they will at least score one.

    vibrant attacking football
If I see it correctly, there are nine possible combinations of outcomes from the two remaining matches in the group.

United goes through with 6 out of 9 possible combinations, those 6 being
    1. MUFC win / PSV win
    2. MUFC win / PSV draw
    3. MUFC win / PSV loss
    4. MUFC draw / PSV draw
    5. MUFC draw / PSV loss
    6. MUFC loss / PSV loss
Wolfsburg OTOH only goes out if you win and PSV too.

As a neutral spectator, I have to admit I love groups in which the decision who's making into which competition is up to the very last match day.

Nah, Lingard was better for me. Rooney had an ok 1st half, but as soon as BFS was taken off, Rooney was given the reins. Thats when we went to shit. As well as him and every other player going forward. So he wasn't worse than anyone today, but his wages suggest that he should be the one making the difference on days like these.

Dog shit of a second half that and not particularly good in the first. If we end up in Europa after such an average CL group then really van Gaal will need to do something special for the rest of the season to keep his job imo. We could still go to Wolfsburg and thump them but I highly doubt it.
It was another great example of LvG being tactically out done. The Fellaini substitution and then playing him deep in midfield was an awful decision. Our whole game went to shit once that happened and the actually effective (in 1st half) Schneiderlin proceeded to have a mare along with most others. Our finishing also sucks balls to be fair so the combination of that and van Gaals lack of ideas will result in many more frustrating draws.
I think however the likes of PSV are our level right now, its hard to hear but we are miles away from being in the A list of European football, we are probably C list.
I think we will really need our scoring boots on Saturday as I don't see us keeping Leicester from scoring.

You really do wonder why we play so static and slow. No movement off the ball whatsoever, no attacking plan.

He played the no.10 and as a captain he has more pressure to deliver than one of the junior players
I wasn't happy with the performance either but he was probably our best player along with Smalling on the night and his criticism is OOT. Less of the 'fanboy' crap....Are you 12?

Best player after Smalling? You must have been watching a different game, as Blind and probably even Rojo were better.
How many chances did he create? How many times was he in a dangerious situation? How many times did he something meaningful? (and by that I dont mean some diagonal passes out wide)

Of course if Rooney must create chances for other, score himself without any decent help from team mates and also control the game in the middle, then he'll fail. But the sad reality is our game plan was broken, when Rooney was involved he did okay. He created one of the best chance in game, for it only to be squandered by team mates. How many chances exactly Lingard and Martial created in the whole game. That would be zero. And that is the core of problem.
We lacked structured and trained attacking play. It impedes Rooney as much as Martial or anybody else in the attack.
