For all the Elanga hate in here, at least he created chances and beat his man regularly. The last pass was often poor but all dangerous chances we created came through him.
Think he was our best offensive player.
Eriksen and the defence did well too.

People here are a bit harsh. We've controlled the game completely, but we have a lot of players who haven't played together before, including our 3 forward line. There's an expected lack of chemistry but all in all we're in control. Only negative for me is Fred's final ball, we can't afford his poor passing. Bruno coming in the second half would improve us a lot.
    Good summary.

Fred is capable of making wonderful killer passes into the box, just not at the right end of the pitch.

Eriksen and Dalot been decent enough.

    Elanga some tidy moments.

    Bit shit though really.

Oh, so you think people shouldn't expect more from an elite DM who won the CL 5 times with Real Madrid, a 100M winger, a 30M/year striker etc.? The best player on the pitch is a guy you had for free after a heart attack (no pun intended towards Eriksen, I love the guy). Some expectations here are very low.
Casemiro has looked good for me for his first start at the club.

It’s the same in every match day thread. We could be winning 5-0 and it would still be 90% negative.

No intensity in our play. Ronaldo and fred have pretty much ended all attacks. Elanga and Antony decent.
Fred needs a few games to get his touch. I know he’s been scrappy, but God, you lot are harsh.
Ronaldo looks poor though. I think he has just had his day.
Elanga is fast but not very talented.
I hope ETH brings a couple of youngsters on.

Ok surely ETH will hook Fred at HT. The experiment of having Fred at 10, as I’m sure all of us would have already known is a disaster, needs to stop now.
Still confuses me to this day that he’s a player for Man United.
He can’t pass, or tackle, or defend or shoot? Why does he keep getting games?

Elanga definately our best player. So many off the pace though. Fred is the worst Brazillian since Stevie Wonder shaved his wife's twat.

5 players getting minutes who haven’t really featured at all this season, some of them playing for the first time in a new system also so no surprise we’re lacking intensity. Need to up the energy levels in the second half.

Zidane should replace Fred, then move Erickson to 10 with Zidane partnering Case.

We have dominated and played well. Created enough to score just need to be more lethal up front. Our front four needs to show more. Feel like Haaland would have had a hattrick by now…
People are a bit overly critical today. We are the better team. Can we play better ? Absolutely but If this was last year, we’d be seeing a very different United. Our pressing has improved immensely. Fred is having a stinker in that number 10 position though.
Yeah I know it's the match thread but strange reactions here.

    1. Pressing a Spanish side well and forcing them to go long is always a good barometer of how good your pressing game is and we've been pretty good today.

    2. Lots of line breaking passes to the right areas due to good build up from the back. Not just goal kicks, more generally on transitions we're finding Fred at #10 and he keeps doing stupid shit.

    3. They generated no threat at goal at all. Total defensive control.

    4. Interesting experiment to have Casemiro deep and Eriksen in the McT role. Think this will be the template for the future but he has the same tendency as McT to hide behind opponents during build up.

We've been shite. This an awful low intensity, disjointed affair. Reminiscent it the nonsense we served up most of last year.

Not having ads rammed down my throat on a service I pay for is pretty nice honestly. I'd take this chill music over Audi reminding me I'll never afford a brand new car.
Absolutely. That was a lovely few minutes without Ray Winstone shouting at me to make a bet on Bet365. People will find any reason to be outraged/exhasperated at the death of the Queen. It'll be flavour of the month for a while.

I thought we've been decent. Lacked that final ball through a poor decision or bad pass at times. Particularly Fred who's been very poor. Elanga has been wasteful too, although he's at least looked threatening.

I was hoping that Antony would impose himself a bit more considering that Sociedad is not a top team. Eriksen class. Fred poor.

Some poor play but as some have said, the players aren't match sharp and it shows.

If Fred plays the whole game, watch him have a barnstormer of a second half. He usually does.

About what I expected. Disjointed attack but controlling the game. Dalot, Eriksen, Malacia all look quality. Casemiro and Antony solid. Fred horrific on the ball, and Elanga is poor technically but taking his man on well. Antony also looks dangerous but needs to look to create a bit more since we won’t get it through the middle.

I agree. The Malacia, Eriksen and Elanga left side looks good. They seem to work well together.

Why is there a blackout here on BT? I mean, not being unsympathetic but...
I think because it happened a few hours ago, BT really dont know how to respond with this game. I kind of get that to be honest. Plus maybe the pundits werent really in the mood, some of them have probably met the Queen numerous times.

If only someone could reverse Ronnie's proprioception. And bring back his perfect touch!

Honestly watching the game and reading this thread at the same time, I feel like I must be watching a completely different game. Some of the expectations here are beyond hopeless.
To think I rely on match day threads when I can’t watch football. We look in complete control of this game. Elanga already created 2 good opportunities. It hasn’t clicked for Antony yet but hopefully we will see a different outcome in the second half. Overall we are doing okay. Just final third cutting edge missing.

Why would anyone fault our back line in this game? They didn’t even concede a single chance

i mean how many of these players truly would even be bothered by the queen dying? Seems just more a collection of players who havent played much and dont know how to play together in a way that ETH wants
I do think that this is part of it, but you'd be surprised how many people are posting tributes, sharing things on social media and so on. It's wall to wall on Facebook, etc. I do get it as somebody important has died, so...it's awkward as hell to be playing a game/sport.

Not concerned at all. A bit more quality on the second half will dispatch the visitors comfortably.
